Ring of Honor
A 4-11 record, 31 guys on injured reserve, a quarterback of the future who may not have one ... I needed a distraction from all the negativity so started thinking about the Ring of Honor and future honorees. The Ring, as you know, currently has one member, Tony Boselli; I believe that within the next three years it will have six more. See what you think about this schedule.
A Good Laugh
I just returned from a week in Colorado, and obviously 95% of the conversation on sports talk radio was gushing about Tim Tebow. But one show featuring a decidedly anti-Tebow sentiment, and presented an end-of-season scenario that was so outrageously funny I had to share it with you.
You People are Nuts
With all due respect, those of you calling for Luke McCown to be traded/released/benched are wallowing in the post-slaughter humiliation that we're all feeling after this afternoon's travesty. Yeah, the guy had an exceptionally bad game, but the worst thing the Jags could do with now is give up on him at this point in the season and throw Gabbert to the wolves. Here are the reasons.
I Have Questions
I'm not quite as plugged in as many of you and have been out of town for a while, and wondered if y'all would help me out by answering a few easy questions.
A Few Thoughts from a Jags Fan
Troops:
First time posting on another site, hope you don't mind a couple of comments from section 210 at Everbank Field. I was extremely impressed with the Raiders today in a game that could have gone either way. Lots of big plays on both sides, lots of questionable officiating, but what struck me the most was the fact that there are so many similiarities between our teams.

Character Counts
[Note by River City Rage, 11/22/10 5:40 PM EST ]: FP'ed, thoughtful piece.
Gene Smith and Jack Del Rio have given the fans something to cheer about. (via jacksonville.com)
Gene Smith, we all agree, has done a remarkable job of bringing in good football players. Everyone from his two draft classes is contributing to the team, or they were before going on IR. Aaron Kampman, before he got hurt, looked like our best free agent acquisition ever; Osgood is a special teams monster and capable WR back-up; and Torry Holt had a huge impact on the young receivers last year. But the real mark of Smith's genius is in how he has completely transformed the character of this team in less than two years.

Encouraging Signs
Halfway through the first quarter today I thought I was watching a replay of the San Diego game, with the turnovers and the points we gave up off of them. But this was a different Jags team (and yes, a very different opponent), and their resiliency was one of the encouraging signs today ... we have not been a good comeback team in the past, and today we were.
Time to grow up, lads.
I know I'm probably older than anyone who comes to this site regularly, and maybe I should leave and find some adults to play with. But that would disappoint me. I've enjoyed visiting here the past couple of years, the comments and insights, the shared passion for the Jags, and I've appreciated many of you for what I've learned. But BCC has changed, and not for the better.

Mike & Mike
I just got through reading this idiot on Yahoo, talking about how bad a town Jax is, about how is has no identity, all the same old unimaginative crap we've heard so often before.
A few observations from section 210
Someday we are going to learn how to prevent games like this from coming down to the wire; this one had no business being close. But no complaints, a win is a win, and there were a lot of things to like about the way we played today. A few random thoughts:
JDR
Reading Zoltan's post and all the responses I realize how conflicted I am by the issue of Jack Del Rio as our head coach. There are those who believe in him, and those who want him fired tomorrow ... including my buddy's very adamant wife, who I've been tailgating with for 15 years.
Leadership
On the way home from the game on Sunday I heard one of the players talking about Torry Holt's speech to the team before the final drive, and now I see this item at the top of the site. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. Almost as happy as the look on Jerry Jones' face when he lost the inaugural game in his new monument to himself.
I've had about enough of this guy
I used to respect Peter King ... his knowledge, his contacts, his communication skills.
Why we win
It's the week leading up to opening day and hope springs eternal across the league, nowhere more so than Jacksonville.
The Archaic Blackout Policy
I got to the stadium Saturday night very early so I could watch the pre-game warmups. (Been a season ticket holder since day 1 of the franchise, BTW). Probably 50 people max in the stands.
Give Jones a chance to rebound
The Jags would make a mistake by releasing Matt Jones now. Often a major kick in the butt like this arrest is what helps a person wake up, shed the air of entitlement and turn his or her life around. Maybe Jones has hit bottom and recognizes the changes he has to make not only in his personal life, but as a football player as well. He is certainly no hero in Arkansas anymore, and the only way to regain his self respect and his reputation is to show some toughness and be the player and person everyone expected him to be.We've given him several chances as a player, let's give him one more as a person and see what he's really made of.
