Semi - OT: The Holiday Thread
Holidays are upon us! And because we live in a commercial society that has almost completely forgotten the reason why we go out and shop like crazy around this time what do you guys/gals want for Christmas? I got my present on November 1st, yet that present needs many new accessories! Ordered the new eight dvd set the other day. Also, if we can get a good young SS in the next draft, that would be really nice.
Revisiting "A letter to Giants fans"
jctGamer made this awesome video after we lost another game to the Padres at home and were in a midst of a three game losing streak that saw us fall 6.5 games back of the Padres. After every big win I would come back and watch this video. I kept the faith. I have learned to always keep the faith. The original post:
Tegami is the Japanese word for "letter." This is the story of a young girl, unable to cope with the pain of living in the present, sends a letter to her future self. The future self reads the letter, and replies to her younger self, telling her to hold on, keep her chin up, and press on because there is no running away from sorrow.
In a sense, that's what every Giants fan can relate to. I am 34 years old this year, I moved to San Francisco in 1990, and has been following the Giants ever since. I never saw Mays, McCovey, or Juan Marichal play. I never felt the pain 1989, or 1962. Yet, with one swing of the bat from Troy Glaus, I understood what it feels like. With one ground ball to Cody Random, I can now relate.
It is now my duty to pass it onto the next generation of Giants fans. Maybe this is the year, maybe it isn't. Maybe this season adds to the pain and sorrow, the heart break, and the quest for the parade continues. It doesn't matter. It is part of being a Giants fan, and as bad as it feels to lose to the Padres this weekend, it is but another chapter in the long history of the San Francisco Giants.
Keep pressing on, and keep the faith, my fellow Giants fans.

Green Tarp Invades Park.
I didn't catch much of the game, only the last couple innings, and I wasn't in the game day threads, so can someone explain, what was up with the Green Tarp out in the left field view reserved. (behind the foulpole)?
BLACK OUT!
NLCS Tickets
Hey guys.
So tomorrow the NLCS tickets come out and a couple of my buddies and I are set to get them. We were wondering how it works if the Giants don't make it that far (I'm not trying to jinx or anything). Do they just put back money on the credit card or something?
Anyway to get to 75: NLWEST CHAMPS. NLWEST CHAMPS. NLWEST CHAMPS. NLWEST CHAMPS. First time since I was ten. Holy shit.
Fuck Yeah.
*updated quality*
"If I was being paid thirty-thousand dollars a year, the very least I could do was hit .400."
Ted Williams.
This is how we are going to beat the Padres.
So in Greece, a bunch of soccer fans dug up the pitch at their rivals stadium so the game had to be moved.

So therefore, I propose that we grab some shovels and go down to San Diego before the Giants-Padres four game set and dig up the field to make it unplayable, and have the game moved to Anaheim or Arizona. That way, we actually have a shot at winning.
Manager Rankings
Steve Phillips ranks baseball GM's. Bochy ranked 14th, right ahead of McCoven's favorite Charlie Manuel.
July 23: Backstabbers night in Augusta
"The Augusta GreenJackets are uniquely attuned to the havoc that can be wreaked by megalomaniacal athletes, having staged a derisive "Brett Favre Night" in 2008. On Friday, they're turning their teeming insect eyes to LeBron James, staging a "Backstabbers Night" in his honor. Anyone with an Ohio ID receives free admission, 2-for-1 drinks, and a seat in a special section staffed with grief counselors. Meanwhile, "King James" will be inducted into the "Backstabbers Hall of Fame," a heretofore unknown institution that also includes Brutus, Judas, Benedict Arnold, Nick Saban and Roger Clemens. Prior to the game, GreenJackets manager Dave Machemer will make a decision of his own, announcing to a live TV audience where he plans to eat dinner following the game."
OT: McCovey Fantasy Football League
So for the multi sport fans here who just happen to like playing fantasy football out of their moms basements, I was wondering if you guys would be interested in having a McCoven league. Do a live draft in August and then trash talk both inside the league and on game day threads. So post if you are interested and then a preference of where to play. I usually play on ESPN but NFL.com has apparently in game highlights which is a cool feature.
OT: Any USF Alums out here?
I'm thinking about applying there and I was wondering what the school is like, how modern it is, general life like, rec sports or not, financial aid, just the general dip doo dee info stuff. How are the teachers? And what is the general transportation like to and from downtown? And dorm rooms, those are important too.
Jesse Foppert went there. I think.
#Rays appear to be getting serious about #Brewers' Corey Hart. TB has pitching to trade with Futures starter Jeremy Hellickson ready.
UPDATE: Got a little information for you. The Giants would love to have Hart in their outfield, but the Brewers have not decided whether to trade him or not. Therefore, it would seem, talks are not far along at all.

Lewis on pace to tie MLB Doubles Record
LOLOffense.
Well, look on the bright side, his doubles would have gone to waste in San Fran as noone knows how to drive runners in that are on second with none out. So we are not missing much, right?
Have a Nice Day Velez
He's a goner. Again.
Giants could pair up to buy the Warriors
Interesting read, and personally, I think it would be pretty cool if that was to happen. Thoughts?
ESPN Voters NL Manager of the Year
Note who Jon Miller voted for.

Top Plays of the Giants Season so far
While watching Rentaria trot around the bases after his Grand Slam, I wondered where would it rank on the Giants plays this season. So, I give you the 10 plays, and YOU, get to vote on which ones you like the best. Top 5 will be revealed on Tuesday.
LETS DO THIS!
Giants vs Rockies. The Battle Comes to the Bay.
So, we are gonna continue our dominance of the D'Backs (7-3) vs them on the year, and continue our stellar play at home and sweep the D'Backs. The Rockies, coming to San Francisco after a tough and grueling series vs the Dodgers will come to the city to put the nail in the coffin.
Lincecum. Zito. Cain.
Downloading Highlights
Anyone know how to download highlights from the top plays archive on sfgiants.com? I'm trying to make a first-half highlights music video. Thanks guys. And as always, Vote Panda.

Buy One, Get One Free for MILB
Got an email from MiLB with their new offer for Buy One, Get One Free for any Minor League Baseball.
http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/events/kraft_landing.jsp
So, just wanted to pass it along. Go buy some Kraft singles for your BBQ and then go out and support you local Giants affiliate! Personally, I'm gonna go check out the San Jose Giants, I just don't know which Tuesday. Go see your future stars!
Do you Believe?
Do you believe that the Giants are a legit contender. According to Colin Cowherd's (ESPN) 3-pitcher system, where if a team has two really good pitchers and a closer, than they will succeed in the playoffs, than the Giants are. I think that behind the Phillies and the Dodgers, we are up there with the Cardinals, the Brewers, and even the Mets. I believe that with the grind it out style we play, and with our pitching, we can get a run at it. While a trade is mandatory, and it might not happen, I believe that Bumgarner would get called up in September for the stretch run. I think that we should make black and orange "We Believe" shirts, because the Giants are 5 games above .500 for the first time since 2004. So, do you Believe?
Frandsen wants out?
Reading Andrew Baggerly's blog and interesting quote by Frandsen: "The Giants don’t see me as an everyday player, but I see myself differently," Frandsen was quoted as saying. "At a certain point, you realize a lot more teams need help, no matter how much my heart is set on this team."
Personally, I think that he can be packaged with someone to get a good bat, maybe a Dan Uggla or a Paul Konerko?
