MCM Fantasy Focus Week 4

Don't have time for the full article this week as I am away, but here is the consolidated version. With shorter explanantions to why I am making these suggestons.

Start Em'

QB - C. Palmer (vs the Browns, nuff said)

RB - G. Coffee (no real backup so will see 100% of the workload vs Rams, expect 20+ touches)

WR -Mike Sims-Walker (was 1 yard away from paydirt last week when he got hit out of bounds, faces banged up, and not very effective, titans secondary)

TE -V. Davis (looks liek the go-to-guy in SF, yeah I got two 49ers on my start em, don't laugh)

D - Bengals

Sit Em'

QB - E. Manning (giants will run the ball all day down the Chiefs throat)

RB - C. Portis (no real backup so will see 100% of the workload vs Rams, expect 20+ touches)

WR -TJ Houshmanzadeh (Should remain on fantasy benches for the time being, especially with Hasselbeck out)

TE - Z. Miller (hard to put up good #s when your QB cant throw a complete pass)

D - Jets (did not look overly impressive last week and face a tough task this week with the saints)

MCM Fantasy Football Focus - Week 3

Last weeks post had some good suggestions, and also some that did not exactly work out the way I was hoping.

If some of you took my advice to sit DeSean Jackson, it didn't take long to bite you in the ass, as Jackson took an 80 yard reception to the house in the first quarter.

Don't fret, there were also some great calls such as starting Trent Edwards, Fred Jackson and the trio suggestion at TE of Dallas Clark, Todd Heap, and Dustin Keller.

If you payed attention to the "Waiver Wire Watch" you may have picked up some gems WR's like Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, Percy Harvin, Nate Washington, Laurent Robinson.

Check out this weeks start em, sit em after the jump. Also, use the comments section to post your own fantasy dilemma's and give each other advice.

Start Em

QB – Trent Edwards (vs. NO) – Sticking with my boy Edwards again here. He has impressed thus far this season and faces what is sure to be another shootout with the offensive juggernaut that is the Saints. Look for big numbers this week from Edwards.

Runners Up: Eli Manning, David Gerrard

RB – LeSean McCoy (vs. KC) – Facing a bad defence in KC, i see big things for McCoy this week. Westbrook is hurt but even if he plays McCoy will get enough touches to produce this week. If Westbrook is not able to go than McCoy becomes a MUST START in all league formats.

Runner Up: Fred Jackson, Felix Jones

WR – Mario Manningham and Steve Smith (vs. TB) – I love me some Giants this week, with a great match-up against the Bucs both starting receivers will produce good numbers. The giants are having trouble running the ball this season and have let Eli Manning's arm loose which has done nothing but put smiles on the owners of these Giants receivers.

Runners Up: Jerrico Cotchery, Braylon Edwards

TE – Dustin Keller (vs. TEN) – The Titans pass defence has looked very suspect this year, and rookie QB Mark Sanchez has seemed to develop a nice chemistry with his young tight end. If the Titans decide to bring the heat and pressure Sanchez he may be looking for his safety blanket early and often. Oh, and i really hope im wrong about this prediction.

Runners Up: Jermichael Finley, Jeremy Shokey

D – Broncos – Wow... never thought I would actually be writing this but the Broncos D has impressed thus far and face a great Match-up this week with the Raiders. Jemarcus Russel has been terrible this season with a remarkably terrible 35% completion percentage.

Runners Up: Bengals

SIT EM

QB – Joe Flacco – We all know that the Ravens like to run, and even though they have been putting up points with the best of em this year, they have still been committed to the run. Baltimore once again is up near the top in rushing attempts per game and face a terrible run D this week with the Browns. I look for the Ravens to run the ball, run it again, and run it some more this week and don't think Flacco will have to do much in the air in a lopsided victory for the Ravens. Not so Wacko for Flacco this week.

Runner Up: Matt Cassel

RB – Thomas Jones – We all know that the Titans Run D has been stellar this season with opponents averaging under 2 YPC. I don't see Thomas Jones being a problem for the Titans this week. Leon Washington will be a much more effective back facing the Titans and may even see more touches in this game than Thomas Jones will. I'd keep Jones on fantasy benched this week.

Runner Up: Willie Parker

WR – Brandon Marshall – Remember when this guy was putting up massive numbers? Well those days seem to be over, at least until he leaves town. For a multitude of reasons I just don't see Marshall putting up productive fantasy numbers in Denver anytime soon.

Runner Up: TJ Houshmandzadeh, Roy Williams

TE – Ben Watson – Watson had a huge game in week one but I don't foresee him being a long term solution at tight end for any fantasy roster. The WR corps in New England is just too talented and Tom Brady has never been such a good friend to his tight ends.

D – Miami Dolphins – This defence did not look good last week getting picked apart by Peyton Manning, and it wont get much easier. Phillip Rivers and the Chargers are on the sched this week and they have showed explosivness on offence all year. Look for a big day from Rivers, Jackson, Sproles and co.

MCM Fantasy Football Focus - Week 2

This will be the first installment of a weekly piece that will appear on the site every Saturday written by yours truly. The new Fantasy Football Guru of MCM. I hope this weekly article can help some of you guys win your fantasy leagues. Keep in mind that I do accept donations.... haha, just kidding, I just want you guys to win. Check out the first instalment after the jump!

Start Em

QB – Ben Rothlisberger (vs. CHI) – Big Ben is coming off a strong performance in Tennessee where the Steelers have realized that they do not have a running game. Expect Tomlin and company to let Big Ben’s arm loose again this week against a Bears Defense that is banged up with starters Urlacher, Vasher and Tinoisamoa out this week.

Prediction: 330 Yards, 2 TDs

Runners Up: J. Campbell (vs. STL), T. Edwards (vs. TB)

RB – Darren McFadden (vs. KC) – Any RB is a good match up against the lowly Chiefs run defense. Fans of the Titans know this as last year vs the Chiefs both Smash and Dash busted off 80+ yard runs for TDs. Last year against the Chiefs McFadden posted the best game of his career with 164 yards and a touchdown. McFadden looked good last week against the Chargers and looks like a dual threat option to run the ball AND catch it (both out of the backfield and in the slot). Look for a big game from “RUN DMC”.

Prediction: 22 Attempts, 95 Yards, 1 TD, 3 Receptions, 30 Yards

Runner Up: F. Jackson (vs. TB)

WR – Santana Moss (vs. STL) – This is probably the biggest risk I’m going to take in this column. Moss is by no means a consistent fantasy contributor but I think that this week he will have success against the Rams. Jason Campbell has got to throw to someone, and it shouldn’t be hard to do against the Rams. Moss would be the guy most likely to get the most production of the Skins wideouts. You can find a safer play in the runners up below, but Moss is a high-risk high-reward WR this week that may even be a free agent in shallow leagues.

Prediction: 6 Receptions, 90 Yards, 1 TD

Runners Up: J. Gage (vs. HOU), N. Burleson (vs. SF), S. Holmes

TE – Dallas Clark (vs. MIA) – Someone is going to have to pick up the slack and the production of the recently injured Anthony Gonzalez. My bet is that the ol’trusty TE in Indi will be that guy. Look for Clark’s production to increase not only for this week but also for the duration of Gonzalez’s injury.

Prediction: 7 Receptions, 85 Yards

Runners Up: T. Heap (vs. SD), D. Keller (vs. NE)

D – Redskins – They are playing the Rams. Enough said. Oh… and Big Al will be eating Steven Jackson and Marc Bulger for lunch on Sunday afternoon.

Runners Up: Falcons (vs. CAR), Packers (vs. CIN)

SIT EM

QB – Carson Palmer – Palmer did not look good last week against a less than average defense in Denver. This week he faces what looks to be a much improved defence in GB that forced Jay “the savior” Cutler into the worst game of his career last week by intercepting him 4 times.

Runner Up: B. Favre (vs. DET)

RB – Steven Jackson – My original choice for this spot was LT, but he has now been ruled out for week 2. So now I turn to a talented guy on a terrible team. Jackson will have a hard time finding success this week against the Redskins run defense that is much improved by default after adding the big cog in the middle Albert Haynesworth.

Runner Up: R. Bush (vs. PHI)

WR – DeSean Jackson – Feel more confident about this one than any. With Kevin Kolb at the helm this week for the Eagles you will see more of the short dink and dunk passes. This style does not suit Jackson well so I expect little production from him this week.

Runner Up: C. Chambers (vs. MIA), B. Edwards (vs. DEN)

TE – No one stands out here so I’m going to cheat and not name one.

D – Bears – Missing 3 starters (Vasher, Urlacher and Tinoisamoa), and facing a dynamic offense in GB, I would move Bears D to fantasy benches this week to avoid disappointment.

Waiver Wire Watch: Keep an eye on the following guys that may be available in your fantasy league.

QB – Mark Sanchez, Jeff Garcia, Kerry Collins

RB – Cadillac Williams, Mewelde Moore, Fred Taylor, Michael Bush, Kevin Faulk

WR - Legadu Naanee, Justin Gage, Nate Washington, Torry Holt, Percey Harvin, Nate Burleson, Steve Smith (NYG), Mario Manningham, Laurent Robinson, Mark Clayton, Austin Collie, Louis Murphy, Kenny Britt

TE - Todd Heap, Zach Miller, Jared Cook, Vernon Davis

D – Seattle Seahawks

Types of posts like this have not really been floating around this site much, I know its very TMZ-like but some of you may be interested in seeing these links. There's not much credibility to material this site writes, but nonetheless they have done a pretty good job of scowering the social networking world to find some interesting photos of some of the characters involved in the McNair story.

This page seems to have the most photos (sometimes takes a while to load). But if you click on the top topics links on the left you can sift through a lot more.

Take it for what its worth, just wanted to share what i found.

Finally someone in the media actually looks into the situation as opposed to saying "the titans lost haynesworth, so they are going to suck."

Holt Trade with Titans Falls Through.

The Titans were reportedly on the verge of trading for Torry Holt on Thursday before the trade fell apart.

According to the National Football Post's Michael Lombardi, the deal fell through after Holt refused to restructure his contract. Appearing Friday on NFL Network, Lombardi said he suspects the Titans are still the front-runners to land Holt since they were the only team interested in trading for him.

I realize we could have traded up a couple spots to get Sweed in the 2nd round, but here is some not so encouraging news from rotoworld.

Rookie Limas Sweed is currently running as the Steelers' fifth receiver.

He's behind Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Nate Washington, and Dallas Baker. That's a strong statement about a rookie that many expected big things from this season. Sweed will likely be scratched on game days until (and if) he passes Baker.
Not saying he wont turn out to be a good player, but looks like he is not going to make an immediate impact with anyone which is what we need. He would of definately had a better oppurtunity to move up the Depth chart in tennessee as our WRs cant catch a cold, but this little info I just read puts a smile on my face.
