Sactown Royalty Thinking out loud...

I am a third year student at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and it has been rough for me to be out of town during this whole relocation saga.  I have done all I can while being out of town, by promoting the events through twitter and facebook as well as writing numerous letters to the relocation committee.  In my Leadership class, one of our students became diagnosed with cancer, and we decided to hold a benefit concert to raise proceeds for cancer research in his name.  This got me thinking, what if the city of Sacramento had a benefit concert for a new arena?  I know it wouldn't fund the whole arena, but it would be fun, and every little bit helps right?

Niners Nation 49ers Madden Help?

Hey Niners Nation,
I don't post here too much, but the site is definitely on my most viewed site list.  I am writing to you guys out of frustration.  No I am not writing about our disappointing 0-3 start, I am writing about my recent struggles with the 49ers on Madden 11.  In Madden 10, I won tournaments, and had a 80% win percentage online, because I had mastered how to play with our San Francisco 49ers.  This year I am 5-8 with the inability to stop the pass.  I am asking for advice, hints, tips, or secrets about how you have found that works with our 49ers.  Thanks for your help.
P.S. My gamer ID on Xbox360 is KRAZEExxK and on PS3 is tha49ers4life.

Sactown Royalty 2010 NBA Draft Exam

Apparently, the Warriors read my post about Wesley Johnson, because rumors around the league are declaring that the Warriors trading Anthony Randolph and the 6th pick to Minnesota for the 4th pick to nab Johnson. Various sources are insisting that the deal will only take place if Johnson is on the board at #4. The most intriguing part of the rumor seems that Minnesota is the one seeking to move back, after openly expressing excessive interest for moving up to #2 for Evan Turner. This could mean two things: 1. Nothing but a smoke screen  or 2. It's time to speculate how this new information affects us on draft day. For the sake of providing a FanPost worthy of being read, let's stick with option 2.

Sactown Royalty Not a 4 Player Draft Anymore!

When the Sacramento Kings received the 4th overall pick in the 2009 draft when we contained the best chances of obtaining Blake Griffin with the first pick, I felt cheated and cursed the David Stern and the NBA. With hindsight, it remains apparent that receinving the #4 pick was a blessing in disguise that resulted in the 2009 Rookie of the Year and arguably the best player in the draft.  When the Sacramento Kings received this year's 5th overall pick in what was supposedly a "four player draft," I felt screwed again, but as I continued my research, I found that this guy makes me feel lucky for containing a top 5 pick.

That's right, I am drooling over the thought of Wesley Johnson in a Sacramento Kings jersey as Tyreke's running mate.  After the jump I will share some of the research that I have found.

Sactown Royalty Why Demarcus Cousins will be the next Sacramento King!

Last night, my friends and I threw a huge birthday bash for our friend's 21st birthday. It started off with extensive drinking and continued with a 250 pound man breaking the basketball hoop on an alley-oop. Throughout the night, people mockingly acted as if he were Demarcus Cousins. When asked where he wanted to be drafted, he said he "wants to be a Sacramento King with his boy Tyreke Evans." While I was very drunk, it led to my theory as to why Demarcus Cousins will be a Sacramento King next season. The following theory consists of two aspects: a) Why Demarcus Cousins will be available at the 5th overall pick and b) Why Geoff Petrie will select Cousins with the 5th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Hayward already has workouts scheduled with the Kings, Warriors, Clippers, Jazz and Pacers, who are all in the top 10.

If Petrie drafts the NBA version of Hayward-Bay at #5, I'll never forgive him!

Sactown Royalty Sifting Through the 2010 Free Agent Class

During this years trade deadline, Geoff Petrie dumped Kevin Martin's long term contract in what seems to be an attempt to lure a big name free agent this off-season. With nearly $20 million to spend in free agency (after paying our first round draft pick) the Kings have enough money to sign almost any player, including Lebron James. Although unlikely to be in the Lebron sweepatakes, let's take a look at the list of NBA superstars and all stars that will become free agents after the 2009-2010 season, analyzing who would want to play for the Kings that we could obtain financially.

Sactown Royalty Missing Person Report!

Dear Sac-Town Royalty,

I am writing you in great distress and as a last hope to recover my lost loved one, who has been missing since late December. I have called the police and every radio station in the greater Sacramento area as well as posted ads in the newspaper and milk cartons (which I will post below). I have done all I can, but I need your help to figure out how to bring back the one who means the most to me.

I was hesitant to bring old wounds up, but his claim that the league puts bigger market teams in better positions to win is what I have been saying for a while. Good view unless you are not over those days yet. Proceed with caution.

This is my first fanshot, so I hope I do it right. I can't read a single word on this page, but it's obvious that this is an Israelian website solely made to get Casspi into the Allstar Game! If T-Mac & A.I. can make it without doing anything all season, Casspi deserves it. So let's blow up this site!

Sactown Royalty The Man Who is Going to Save Sacramento

As the Sacramento Kings were enduring their worst season in franchise history, I turned some of my attention to the rest of the NBA for an actual display of exciting basketball. While watching the Bulls battle the Celtics in arguably the greatest playoff series of all-time, I couldn't help but be jealous of how one man by the name of Derek Rose could turn a team in the cellar of the Eastern Conference into a great team, in ONE season. About half of the teams that made the playoffs last year were led by their young franchise player acquired in the draft, including Deron Williams' Jazz, Lebron James' Cavs, Dwayne Wade's Heat, Dwight Howard's Magic, and Chris Paul's Hornets. I remember questioning my brother, "Why couldn't the Kings have a franchise player like that? If we ever get one, how many more seasons of terrible Basketball would I have to stomache before we had a player that would bring back Arco thunder?" Well thanks to Geoff Petrie's genius, he found that player with the 4th pick in this years draft. It's tough to figure this guy out. He's not extremely fast. He's not super athletic. He's not an amazing shooter. He's not an exceptional passer. But he IS an amazing basketball player and the savior Sacramento has been waiting for. I am going to analyze why Tyreke Evans is the face and the future of the Sacramento Kings.

Sactown Royalty Kings Remain Active in Trade Talks

Good morning STR,
I am so anxious about watching the Battle of the Memphis PGs that I can not sleep.  (Just Kidding. Studying for a Midterm).  But I came across a very interesting article that got me sidetracked a little bit.

Our Good Friend Marc Stein Reports

Sources told ESPN.com that the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings, in considering the feasibility of a Samuel Dalembert-for-Kenny Thomas swap, have discussed expanding that concept with Boston by trying to draw in the Celtics on a potential three-way deal that would land Andres Nocioni with the Celts.

I was very intrigued with the possibilities that this could have become, so I continued reading, and was very disappointed with the details:

But the full deal as it stands, if it eventually gets that far, would send Nocioni to Boston, Kenny Thomas, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine to Philadelphia and Dalembert and J.R. Giddens to Sacramento.

The deal seems like it is being seriously considered by all sides as Stein explains

Sources further stressed over the past 48 hours that this should be classified as an ongoing conversation as the teams involved decide how much they like what’s on the table.

So the talks between New Orleans and Sacramento seems to have stopped, but the Kings continue to show us that they are pushing to improve the team NOW!  I like the message they are sending the fans, but do not necessarily like this deal, especially since Dalembert is making $12 million this year and $13 million next year.  Without an extra pick for us, which I doubt will happen , I stop this trade right now, because we can get ALOT more value for Kenny Thomas AND Nocioni. Stein breaks down the trade from our standpoint:

The Kings have interest in securing another big man to join Spencer Hawes and the fast-developing Jason Thompson in their frontcourt rotation and have pondered the merits of gambling on Dalembert for some time. And trading for Philly’s out-of-favor center certainly makes more sense than a deal for New Orleans’ Emeka Okafor, who has four years and nearly $40 million left on his contract through the 2013-14 season. It’s believed that Sacramento, even if these three-way talks go no further, will continue to field offers for Nocioni, given the Kings’ desire to have cap space in the summer of 2011 and the promising early development of rookie Omri Casspi.

What do you guys think about the trade?

How about the message that the team is sending us?

P.S. Go Kings!

P.P.S. Wish Me Luck on my Midterms Tomorrow!

P.P.P.S. Hope my format (as a New Member) is good enough for Pookey! ;)

Niners Nation Crabtree for Rookie of the Year?!?

I know this may seem a bit bizarre to even ponder this after he missed 6 weeks of action, but it's a question worth asking because well, he's Michael Crabtree.  Can he become Offensive Rookie of the Year?

One game can not win him the award, but I was impressed by his performance on Sunday.  He played nearly every offensive snap, which was more than any other 49er reveiver.  He caught every ball that was thrown to him, except for one.  He ran his routes pretty well and seemed to get open often.  Five catches for 56 yards in his NFL debut is pretty good, but he would have to step it up to get Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, because I believe he has to beat out these following rookies:
Mark Sanchez- New York Jets QB who has 1178 Passing Yards with 6 TD & 10 INT in 7 Games Played
Matthew Stafford- Detroit Lions QB who has 894 Passing Yards with 3 TD & 6 INT in 4 Games Played.
Percy Harvin- Minnesota Vikings WR who has 23 catches for 285 Yards & 2 TD & 2 Kick Return TD in 7 Games Played.

In my opinion, it is not undoable for Michael Crabtree.  He is our best wide receiver on our team, while no other team can say their best WR is a rookie.  He could possibly average 6 catches for 80 yards and a TD with Smith as QB, but I believe that we would have to make the playoffs for him to be crowned R.O.Y.  What do you think he would have to accomplish for the rest of the season? Do you think it is possible?
