Talking Chop Braves trivia game app - UPDATE

UPDATE:

The app is now up, if you have an android phone go to the marketplace to download it or just get it from the website: https://market.android.com/details?id=sam.gibbs.CS406.BravesTriviaGame&feature=search_result

Hi all, I'm a computer science major and a senior who will be graduating in may (only 8 more weeks!). One of my courses I'm taking this spring is Android development. Our last assignment before we went on spring break was to develop a trivia game on a subject of our choice. I naturally chose the braves, and wrapped up what was required for the app last week and turned it in.

For the assignment we only needed 10 questions in the app, and we weren't required to put it up on the market. So... my spring break project is to increase the number of questions (anywhere from 50-100), iron out some kinks,  add a few small things (like sound) and put it up on the market.

What would be awesome to have from you guys is some input in the form of trivia questions. One of my app's features will provide a way to email in new questions, but if you guys could help me build up the initial set that would be awesome. Here's an example questions I have in the game right now:

<question>Starting in the 90's, how many consecutive years did the Braves win division titles?</question>
<answer1>Ten</answer1>
<answer2>Twelve</answer2>
<answer3>Fourteen</answer3>
<answer4>Sixteen</answer4>
<correctanswer>Fourteen</correctanswer>
<comment>The Braves streak of 14 consecutive division titles is a major league record.</comment>

So, if you have any questions of your own to add, feel feel to reply. You can put the xml tags (the <question> stuff) if you want, or I'll just do that for you. Also, unless you state otherwise, I'll include your name in the comment bit. (I.e. "submitted by bravesfan123 from talkingchop.com"). Trivia questions can range from easy to hard...if i already have the question in my bank i'll let you know. Any other comments/ideas would be appreciated as well.

When the app is up on the market I'll let you know and if you have an android phone you can download it. The app will definitely be free.

Thanks!

Talking Chop Braves posters

So I'm making my Christmas wish list for my family, and really want to get a Braves poster for my room. Anyone know a site/place that sells them? I'm looking for picture/print type posters, not some photoshop garbage - something like this: http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Tommy-Hanson-2010-Posters_i6559776_.htm but that its actually regular poster size (I think standard is 22" x 28"). I've searched all over online but haven't had much success.

Any ideas?

Its interesting that both Melky and Yunel make the list here. Hey, at least we managed to get rid of one of the 20 worst players in 2010?

Talking Chop Hudson, Bullpen Dominate in 3-1 win over Natinals

Tim_20hudson_medium

Note: Since mvhsball said he wouldn't be around to post the recap immediately, I figured I'd give this whole recap thing a shot since I have nothing else better to do tonight.

The game tonight was similar in a lot of ways to last night's game, except this time things went the Braves way. Tim Hudson, like Tommy Hanson last night, dominated for most of the game, going 7.2 innings while allowing 7 hits, 1 base on balls, and 1 earned run while racking up 7 K's and (his usual) 12 groundballs. And, for all you sabermetric lovers out there, Hudson had an amazing .418 WPA.

One of the few moments where Hudson was under pressure came in the bottom of the 3rd, with runners on the corners with one out. The next batter, Adam Kennedy, promptly grounded straight to Troy Glaus, allowing a beautiful 3-6-3 double play to get Hudson out of the jam.

After Hudson allowed his only walk of the game in the top of the eighth, Venters made a seven pitch appearance against Adam Dunn with Ryan Zimmerman on first to get the last out of the eighth inning. Finally, Billy Wagner returned to form to close out the game. Wagner managed one strike out and two fly outs to Melky Cabrera to stop the Braves' recent losing streak.

Talking Chop A Brave Proposition

Kenshin Kawakami's dismal outing on Wednesday night ended with an 0-9 record and a 4.42 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP. The game portrayed the perfect picture of Kenshin's season so far this year. He pitches good enough, allowing an average of four runs on each outing, but the Braves are never there to help him, leaving high numbers of players on base.

Still, the blame must ultimately lie with the pitcher, and while the Braves currently enjoy 1st place, the Phillies will wake up eventually and the Mets are surprising many with their good play. Either way, the fight for NL East dominance will clearly continue for the rest of the season.

With that in mind, the Braves have to explore other options for the starting rotation.

Jon Heyman published an early trade rumors report earlier in the week, and in the process highlighted the top seven teams he thought would look at trading for Roy Oswalt or Cliff Lee. Much to my surprise, the Braves were third on his list, with the following notes: "They've been mentioned as a possibility, but their starting pitching is already very strong. And as one competing executive points out, "They don't spend at midseason, that's just not their style." My initial reaction was a smirk and then I ignored the story and moved on. Later though, it hit me.

This is Bobby Cox's last year! More than likely, it'll be the same for Chipper. The Braves have not been to the postseason in five years and have a golden opportunity to send Bobby out as a winner. But...Kenshin Kawakami has underproduced, Jair Jurrjens has been non-existant, and arguably the second best pitcher on staff this year has been Kris Medlen. How long will the patchwork rotation last without significantly hurting the Braves' postseason chances?

A bold move to sign Cliff Lee would be the perfect solution. A rotation of Lee, Hudson, Hanson, Lowe, and Medlen (later Jurrjens) would be extremely talented and deep. The rotation would also practically guarantee a spot in the playoffs and beyond! The trade off could be losing several valuable prospects, but with such a deep farm, the gain would outweigh the loss. The Braves would then have an excellent shot to make the playoffs and be strong candidates. Fittingly, all in the last years for Jones and Cox

What better way to send out the pillars of Braves baseball over the last twenty years?
