Ricky Rubio | 2009 NBA Draft

Ricky Rubio | 2009 NBA Draft

I know we've already got a battle for the PG position going on, but I cannot forget what I saw this kid do in Beijing. The chemistry he and Rudy had far surpassed what we see between Sergio and Rudy. They forced a crazy number of turnovers with their tandem defense attacks. I am not suggesting we replace Sergio with Ricky, but rather supplement one with the other.

Regardless of how much potential we see in Bayless, I don't think we need to try and turn a shoot-first comboG into the pass-first PG we need. We have enough scorers on this team. We need one of those rare magical playmakers like Rudy at the PG spot. And regardless of how hardworking Blake is, I don't know of anybody who actually envisions him to be the PG of our upcoming championship years.

So... How about some 2009 Draft Day Magic from KP, sending Blake + Bayless in exchange for the draft rights to Ricky Rubio?? What better way to help this kid adapt his game to the NBA, then to play under Sergio, and along side Rudy.

Besides, I've had this nightmare in my head of Ricky ending up on the L*kers, throwing lob after lob to Pau Gasol night after night. We CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN!!

What do you guys think??

Is there anybody downtown who wants to grab some grub before heading to the Rose Garden tonight?? I'm working down in Old Town (right off the MAX line), so if anybody is hungry... let us eat now, so we're not doubling the cost of our tickets by eating at the Garden. Call me. 971.219.2116

Also, did everyone catch the Oden article on the front page of NBA.com. HE HAS ARRIVED!!!

So, where are we all gathering to watch the opening night double-header? Cleveland at Boston @ 5:00pm, then Portland at L.A. L*kers @ 7:30pm.

I chec

ked out Fire on the Mountain on E Burnside, and they've only got two HDTVs that can't be any bigger than 40", and they've got the games muted, so we'd miss out on the comedic commentary of Sir Charles Barkley... it will be great to hear him finally recognize the Trailblazers for the upcoming championship contenders that they are.

I've heard good things about Grand Central, but I am not sure I want the sound of bowling overwhelming the ambience.

So... where? Let me here your suggestions, and lets actually try to decide on where we can do this... If not in our own living rooms.

I got an email this morning from the Blazer ticket office, and season tickets are being shipped this week via Fedex!

I've got a question for all of you experienced season ticket holders. I've heard that some people leave their ticket sheets intact in order to preserve the collector's value of the tickets; but how does that work? Do you re-print your tickets at home via your blazers.com account?

I'd appreciate any insights...

So, I quickly made a little Rudy highlight video from Saturday night's game between Spain and USA. I only had twenty minutes to make it, so don't be too harsh on the editing, etc...

For those of you who wanted to see more than just "the dunk"... here ya go.

UPDATE: I've replaced the big quicktime file with a divx file. This is a fraction of the file size. If you can't view it, you can download the codec at http://www.divx.com

UPDATE: I've uploaded to google. Let's see how long it stays before it's pulled by NBC...

The Scouting Report.

This was taken from the USABasketball.com website. To read the full USA vs. Spain preview report, here is the link.

Tony Ronzone, Director of International Player Personnel

What about Spain makes them dangerous?

One is there continuity. Some of these guys have been together since 1999 when Spain won the Junior World Championship in Portugal. Six of those guys are on this 2008 Olympic Team. That's pretty impressive. They could close their eyes, and they could still find their guys on the floor. They are very mature, experienced basketball team. The best domestic foreign league is in Spain, and the athletic talent in that country is unbelievable. They have a lot of confidence and zero fear. The players that do play in the NBA are all succesful, from Gasol to Calderon to Garbojosa, they have all had success in our league. So when they play against us they think they can beat us, and it shows in their confidence on the floor. And they have a guard named Rudy Fernandez, who will play for Portland next year, that is playing unbelievalbe -- just none stop high energy.
