Canal Street Chronicles Sharper eyeing opportunity with Jets

Dan Parr, ProFootballWeekly.com Mar 12, 7:37 pm EST

There is an opening at free safety in New York following the Jets’ decision to trade Kerry Rhodes(notes) to the Cardinals for two draft picks, and free-agent Darren Sharper(notes) said he’s interested in filling the void. Sharper, who became an unrestricted free agent March 5, has yet to visit with any team as he’s recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, but he told PFW correspondent Mike Triplett, who covers the Saints for the New Orleans Times-Picayune, that he knows he would be a good fit with the Jets. The 34-year-old did not say whether the Jets have shown interest in him; he appears to be interested in speaking with any team that he deems a good fit, so the Jets are just one of several potential landing spots for Sharper. New York’s Eric Smith(notes) sits atop the depth chart at free safety for now, but the Jets are expected to bring in competition for him through free agency or the draft.

Canal Street Chronicles And So It Begins

The Saints have wreaked havoc on the last two quarterbacks that they've faced. Indy's O line is good, but nothing spectacular, yet the so called experts are saying the Saints D wont get to Manning. All four experts on the yahoo superbowl page pick the Colts to win. They dont take into account that we have the leagues top scoring offense, lead the league in take aways, and the Colts are 32nd in the league in rushing? First they swing off of Favres n*tsack, now its Mannings.

Canal Street Chronicles Go vote for the Saints O-Line

go and vote for our O-line!  vote here

and in case you're interested in who the "experts" are picking, here's a couple of links

espn picks

nfl playbook picks

i was surprised to see how many of them picked the saints, as it seemed that every time i turned on the nfl network or espn, someone was saying that the vikings would beat the saints. there's a drop down box on the espn picks so you can choose the divisional round picks also, and see which of them picked against us lol.

Deuce is back!

Dave Cohen Reporting

The New Orleans Saints have signed former Black and Gold running back Deuce McAllister.

Sources confirm McAllister is back on the team after more than a year away from football.

During the offseason, the Saints released McAllister who had been struggling with multiple knee injuries.

We are awaiting details on McAllister's planned role with the Saints as they prepare for a divisional playoff game with the Cardinals.  So far, officails are only saying he is on the "active roster."

Stay tuned to WWL AM & FM and WWL.com for the latest.

Canal Street Chronicles lol@this

Team: Arizona Cardinals (10-6)

Scouting report on the Saints.

The New Orleans Saints are undoubtedly a good team, but one reason they've had so much success is because of the lack of competition they've played. The only three teams they beat with winning records in 09 were the Eagles, Jets and Patriots. The Eagles and Patriots were embarrassingly knocked out of the playoffs last week, and Mark Sanchez was not playing as good then, as he is now. I can also confidently say the Saints defense has yet to face an offense like the Cardinals this year.

I guess he forgot about the Giants, two wins against Atlanta and one against Carolina who was 8-8, i believe that gives us SEVEN wins against teams with winning records. Meanwhile, if you go look at Arizonas schedule, the only wins they have against teams .500 or better are Houston(9-7), Giants(8-8), and Minnesota(12-4)! That only looks like THREE wins to me, as compared to our SEVEN. THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE, hahahahaha!

Canal Street Chronicles Carolina Game

So what does everyone think payton will do? It's the last game of the season, and with so many injuries, how long do you think he'll play the starters? Will he start Greer and risk re-injuring his groin? Same question goes for Shockey, we're going to really need him in the post season. While they may need to shake off some rust, Carolina is a physical team, should payton risk starting some of these players that are just coming off injury?

Poll
Should Payton continue to rest the players just coming off injury, or play them for at least the first half to shake off the rust?
rest them, dont risk re-injury

Canal Street Chronicles What Ever Happened to.....

Willie Jackson? He had such a good game in the playoffs when hakim dropped the ball, 3 td's if i remember correctly. I just looked him up on wikipedia for the hell of it, he's playing for Team Forida of the All American Football League, lmao! Anyone remember why the saints let him go? I think he signed with the Dirty Birds after he left the Saints but i'm not sure. I was looking at the all time Saints Team picks and he popped into my head for some reason, i was just curious as to what ever became of him.

Canal Street Chronicles Credibility?

The other night on NFL Network, Sterling Sharpe stated that the Saints need this win for credibility. I guess being 10-0 and having beaten the likes of Philly, the Giants when they were hot, the Jets when they were rolling and had beaten the Pats, Atlanta, Carolina and Miami doesn't give the Saints credibility. If it were the Giants or the Pats at 10-0 having played the same schedule, they'd be anointing them as one of the greatest teams ever. This kind of crap gets me P.O.'d.

Canal Street Chronicles Still under the radar?

On ESPN, Roger Staubach was asked for his superbowl prediction. He stated that he thought the Nfc is up for grabs between the Vikings, Cowboys, Eagles and Giants, and if he had to pick right now, he'd pick Vikings vs Patriots. Even though the Saints are 8-0, and have beaten both philly and the giants, he didnt even mention them in the convo....amazing. I guess he isnt aware of Romo's inability to play in the playoffs.

Canal Street Chronicles Jenkins is signed!

If he does get playing time and he does well, i think that will say alot about his football intelligence, hopefully he'll be great...im looking forward to seeing what happens.
