Ladies and Gentleman, for a while I have led the fight to bring hope to our beloved organization known as the Miami Dolphins. It pained me to see them regress from their glory days. I've led this fight, up until today. I think today is the day where it can be said that my fight has been lost. Everything that the pessimists have said is true. Sporano will be gone this week. Once again, we will start from scratch, and find ourselves where Buffalo found themselves for years. I though this would be a good time to start a new segment of mine. I'm going to post a song after every game (what else can I do). Tonights song is by a band called the Gaslight Anthem. I feel the line "We were the magnificent dreamers..." can apply to all of my fellow fighters. And to the pessimists, congrats. You won this one. You were right. I hope you enjoy it.

The Phinsider Sam's Dolphins Flawless 2011 NFL Predictions

Hey guys, as you know I haven't been here in a while. The reasons for my absence concerns none of you, so it shall remain a secret.

Beyond that, I've gotten crazy excited for this upcoming season, and I'm sure all of you losers-who-read-sports-blogs-on-saturday-nights are as well. I've made a few "unique" predictions, and I've decided to share them with all of you.

1. Mike Nolan will lead a top-tier defense this season.

Our young secondary will continue to drastically improve. Reshad Jones will take over as the starting Free Safety, and impress a lot of people. Vontae Davis will also become one of the leagues elites at corner. Karlos Dansby will successfully lead the linebackers, en route to another 90+ tackle season, and Koa Misi will record more than 10 sacks. Cam Wake can speak for himself. Our lineman are the only defensive wild card, being that a lot of their success will depend on the play of the young, unproven Jared Odrick, and another semi-unproven player in Kendall Langford

The best of ZT.

My favorite player of all time, and probably the classiest.

Good to see him retire a Phin.

Oh, and check out the hit at 25 seconds.

Fake Teams Fantasy Baseball Trade Help

Hey guys,

I've been deciding all day on weather to propose a trade or not. I thought you guys should have the final say.

I would trade Alex Rios for Clayton Kershaw

My team lacks pitching, and is very strong in the outfield, so I think it would benfit me.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and I also am wondering if you guys have know any sleeper pitchers that can really breakthrough this year.

Thanks

The Phinsider The Greatest 4 round Mock Draft Ever

Ladies and Gentleman of The Phinsider, you are about to read the greatest Miami Dolphins mock draft ever, because it is written by the greatest writer ever, ME!

1st pick: The Miami Dolphins selcect (drumroll) Earl Thomas, safety out of Texas.

Now that we have a linebacker in Dansby, Free Safety is our biggest need. Thomas has good size (5'10, 195), speed (4.45 40) and he's young (20). He's the best FS in the draft.

2nd Pick: Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE out of TCU

Jason Taylor's aging, and Jerry Hughes would be a nice future replacement for him. He's 6'2, 255 and ran a 4.69 40.

3rd Pick: Terrence Cody or DT from 'Bama, or Jeff Owens, DT Georgia, or Linval Joseph DT East Carolina

The kid is freaking huge (365 pounds) and somehow finished his 40 in 5.20. I would expect a 10.20. He's a great run stopper, and he would fill our DT void. He'd be a nice pick for the 3rd round. Owens (304 lbs) ran a 4.97 40 and benched 44 times. Dudes pretty athletic. Joseph is 6'5 300 lbs. He benched 39 times.

4th Pick: WRs Riley Cooper of Florida, Jeremy Williams of Tulane, or Taylor Price of Ohio.

I don;t wanna take a WR early but these would be good picks a little bit later.

The Phinsider The Word from the Ho-Nerd

Just got back from the great state of Florida! I already miss it. I was lucky enough to get to go to the game, and all i can say is wow. Five lead changes in the fourth quarter? Thats crazy. And when Ronnie busted through the goal line to win the game, i swear the stadium was shaking. But by far, the best part of the game was walking back to the parking lot with 1,000's of screaming dolphin fans singing our fight song, and starting a J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK chant. Freaking awesome.

Okay, so about the game. Henne was flawless, and brought tears to my eyes when he threw that bomb to Ginn. R and R did what we've come to expect from them, and the defense made some nice 3rd down stops (but the special teams blew it on 4th down). The play calling was much better, too. Now for some negatives; special teams sucked. Those fake punts were rediculous. And our secondary had some costly pace interference calls (one of them was a bull call though).

One player I was watching closely was Channing Crowder. He talked a lot coming into this game, but i think he backed it up. He had a bunch of tackles, including a huge 3rd down stop for a loss. He basicly said "shut up fat rex".

So thats my word from the ho-nerd, more next week (maybe).

The Phinsider Chad Pennington: Good Bye

Gentleman, today is a very sad day for me. The Miami Dolphins have placed Chad Pennington on IR, pretty much ending his days as a dolphin, and probably as a football player. I know a lot of you didn't exactly like Chad as our number one QB, but I would like to disagree with you all. Chad did what was thought to be impossible, unimaginable, extraordinary. He was kicked to the curb by the Jets, and snatched up by Mr. Parcells and Co. I was a big doubter of this move. " How is a week armed, injury prone, aging quarterback gonna help the 1-15 dolphins rebuild? I got my answer quickly: he wasn't, he was going to do so much more. After an expected slow start, Chad led us to win, after win, after win. We went into week 17 one win away from the devision championship. Some place no one expected us to be. And best of all, the team we needed to beat was Chad's old NY Jets. That night, I sat in the Medowlands parking lot in the front seat of my car. I listened to every snap on the radio. And at the final whistle, when all dust was cleared, we were devision champions. And at there stood Chad, wearing his dolphin jersey and grey hat. The hero, the leader of the AFC champs. This post is not for a "henne vs. penne" argument. I don't want to hear any hate. Just take time to remember our fallen hero.

We'll miss you Chad. Hope to see you coaching us one day. Good bye.

The Phinsider A Day in The Life of Sam

Hello Phinsiders,

I just got off from work. Being a taxi driver in NY is one of the hardest things you can possibly do. Although, it has it's perks. Like, today I saw a guy with a Jet's hat standing on the curb. I stepped on the gas, and plowed through a puddle, drenching the guy down to his tighty-whitys. I was laughing for the rest of the day. I also drove a Dolphin fan today. Nice guy. Gave him a discount. OK, I'm sure none of you care about that so I'll move on to something a little more interesting. I booked my trip for Miami just now. Flying down to see the Jet game. Staying at Don Shula's hotel! (no, i can't affoard it, my dad's paying for it cuz he's happy I got a job :-) ) If anyone's tailgating at the game, let me know. I'm still trying to think of something useful to say, but nothing's coming to mind. I never been so freaking bored in my life. I'm actualy so bored that I'm watching the Met game.

Ok, I'm done. Sorry for wasting your time. Go read something inteligent now.

The Phinsider My take on our Rookies

We've made it halfway through pre-season. It's time to start evaluating the rookies.

Rankings on a scale of 1-10.

Vontae Davis: 5; Played well last night, locking down his man for most of the game. However, in the 1st game, he made a few bonehead plays, including a stupid fair catch interference.

Pat White: 6; I'm a little biased when it comes to my boy Pat. He was ok on Monday. He was only 2 for 7 with a pick, but the pick was a ball that was tipped by the receiver. He did make things happen with his feet, which is why we brought him in. Nothing to special last night.

Patrick Turner: 7; Has great speed and size. Has the potential to be a great receiver, just needs to avoid dropped balls.

Brian Hartline: 9; Once again, it could be kinda biased. He has good speed, and has been very impressive so far in both games. He's another receiver with potential.

Sean Smith: 9; Very impressive against Jacksonville. Locked down HOF receiver Tory Holt all night, and got a pick in the end zone. Just needs to get well soon!

Thats my point of view. Thoughts?

The Phinsider This Week through the Eyes of SamDaMan

Sunday: David Wright, the only healthy player on the NY Mets gets hit in the head by a 94 mph fastball. He's done for the season, and my interests are turned solely to football.

Monday: GAME TIME! Dolphins beat the Jags, as you all know, and I got through the game without any life-threatening injury's! It was a total win-win for me. Also, the Mets won, but no one really gives a crap anymore.

Tuesday: It's baaaaaaaaaack! My most hated football player not-named Brady, Moss, Sanchez, or T.O. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Farve's an immature 5-year old who just wants attention. I have no respect for him.

Wednesday: Stuck in Brett Farve aftermath. I'm going to sleep through the day, and hopefully when I wake up, Farve will be all gone.

Still three more days to go. What will happen next? Tune in next week to find out!

They need to do something like this now.

The Phinsider The Top 5 Reason why the Dolphins will win the AFC East

1. A new and improved team. I thought the Phins had a very productive off-season and draft. Jake Grove brings a little more experience to a young o-line. Also, the acquisition of Gibril Wilson helps out our secondary, which I think was in need of some help, especially considering the loss of Andre Goodman and Renaldo Hill. Finally of course, Jason Taylor. Still a dominate pass rusher in his latter football days. It'll just be nice to have him there when we win the Super Bowl, Also, the draft. Many "experts" said that the Phins didn't have such a good draft. The addressed many team needs, getting Vontae Davis, Chris Clemons, Pat Turner, and Brian Hartline. Also, they got Pat White, a luxury pick, but he will fit the Dolphins tricky offense very well. I can already hear the wildcat growling!

2. Breakout years from past draft picks. In particular, Ronnie Brown and Teddy Ginn. It finally looks like the Dolphins have a respectable o-line, which is great news for Ronnie. He has showed a great combination of speed and power, and this is the year he makes the leap from good running back to one of the elite running backs. Now for Ted Ginn. In my opinion, his speed makes up for his size. I just have a gut feeling that he's gonna quiet all the people that said he was too small.

3. More experience. Tony Sporano now has a year under his belt as a NFL head coach, which can only work for the better. Chad also has a year of experience with the Dolphins offense. Last year was a "warm up" year. We did great, got to the playoffs, but now it's time for a late playoff run with a more experienced team.

4. Lots of depth on the depth chart. Backing of Chad P. is Chad Henne, a talented, young quarterback. Backing up Ronnie is Ricky Williams, and established vet, and at one time the NFL's leading rusher. I think at receiver we have many talented players, such as Ginn, Pat Turner, Greg Camarilo, Devon Bess, and Ernest Wilford. On defense, it seems that all the depth at linebacker is causing some small problems. The final linebacker spot is being fought over by Matt Roth, Jason Taylor, and Cameron Wake. In football, guys get hurt. That's why it's important to have a reliable second team.

5. A stacked playbook. Last year we saw flea flickers, triple reverses, running back passes, quarterback receptions, and a little something called the wildcat. What will see this year? Only time will tell.
