Canes Country Tell me all about Bryan Allen

Hey Canes Country,

The best thing about SB Nation is being able to talk to fans who actually watch all the other teams. Some other commenter on some other site said that, but it really is true.

Well, I'm working on an article for Pension Plan Puppets, looking at possible D men the team could acquire for next season. Basically, the Leafs need to bring in a defenseman next year. A real defensively solid, big minutes, tough opposition kind of guy, ideally one who form the top pairing with Dion Phaneuf.

As per his twitter, Mike Zigomanis has resigned with the Toronto Maple Leafs. No contract details as of yet. Appreciate Zigomanis in the comments.

Pension Plan Puppets On Keeping Tomas Kaberle

First, a preamble:

There has been a lot of talk recently about the Leafs being in major trade discussions. One of the players suspected of having pretty high trade value is our trusty veteran Dman Francois Beauchemin. Now, it has been often discussed and pretty conclusively proven here on this site that (1) Beauchemin logs the toughest minutes of the Dcorp and (2) barring something like Phaneuf or Komisarek drastically improving their game, or Schenn reaching his potential overnight, it looks there is noone on this team who can replace those minutes. In other words, as bad as things are right now, trading Beauchemin may actually make things even worse (depending, of course, on the return).

~~~
If we trade Beauchemin (and Versteeg, Grabovski etc) then I believe it is a sign that Burke is going to begin a more traditional rebuild, passing on guys like Brad Richards and Alex Semin this summer and looking forward to high picks in 2012. Of course, not signing the sexy free agents will leave us with cap space. How does that relate to Kaberle you ask? Well, first lets take a look at what our fancy, expensive D Corp actually costs.
Five For Howling Whats the deal with Glendale?
All the information i've gotten about the Coyotes situation over the past few years has been second hand. so if you guys can correct me where I am wrong I'll appreciate it. But from all that i've read (and that includes reading between the lines), i have come up with this:
Stanley Cup of Chowder Leafs fan with question
If you guys could give me a serious explanation of this id appreciate it. Why do Bruins fans hate Kessel so much? He didnt go to Montreal, he played well (as far as I know) while he was in Boston, and he was traded for a kings ransom (im mean its probably gonna be 2nd overall this year).
Was he unpopular while he was a Bruin? do leaf fans underestimate that locker-room-cancer stuff? It just seems that they REALLY hate him ( i heard that people even booed him when he was selected for team USA)
Pension Plan Puppets The Leafs in 5 Years
The youth movement is now in full swing. We got a pretty decent collection of young players and the quest is to develop those kids to their peak potential. Question is, what is that potential? So here's an interesting little exercise that may help to relieve some of the depression at having to hear about the Leafs giving away their top pick this year which is probably gonna be a lottery pick (YOU STILL CHEER THE LAFFS? DID YOU KNOW THE LAFFS TRADED THE FIRST OVRALL PICK FOR PHIL NOLAN WHO HAS LIKE ONLY 10 GOALS ZOMG LAFFS SUCK TAYLOR HALL TAYLOR HALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)...
