I think getting these two players will help us sustain what we are doing here. Its futile to think we are gonna break the bank for Kubel or Quentin. Both players would be upgrade and we can probably get them for Gorkys and C prospect or 2(I am just throwing names out there I don't know what it will actually take to get them).

By no means am I saying Lee is the savior but he is right handed and probably good for about 8 home runs for the rest of the year. Any production at first base is just gravy at this point

at Indy. Get ready ladies and gents, this could become one hell of a ride if he keeps it together and he brings that skill set to Pittsburgh!!!!

I feel like this guy could really be the difference maker on this team for the rest of the season. He has great stuff and his curveball makes people look silly. The only thing he needs to do is throw more strikes because he has been getting wild this season example being the Philles game where he walked 6 guys in 2 innings.

I hope the All-star break gave him the needed rest to produce in the second half.

Bucs Dugout Doumit

What is his story right now?  As in when shall he return or begin his rehab assignment?

Also, is there any chance in hell that this guy could play first base for us when he returns?  I know that is not his natural position but we have a serious need there and I really like what Fort McHenry is doing for us behind the plate.  If Doumit can play there we could dish out at bats pretty evenly amongst GFJ Diaz Pearce and McHenry while dumping Overbay.

Just saying it could be an option instead of giving up too much in a trade.

Bucs Dugout Jose Reyes

Is it at all possible that the pirates could throw their hat into the ring and make a deal for Jose Reyes? I know the Mets are in a pretty tight spot right now but I would have to believe that they would want to trade him for somebody rather then lose him in Free Agency.  I know that he walks after this year so trading for him might seem stupid but I think he would be more valuable to this team this year then Maholm and Doumit would be.  Also if he does sign with another team we will get a high comp pick in next years sandwich round.

So even if you don't think its possible lets have some fun and speculate what it would take to get on the buccos roster.  I'm thinking Maholm/Doumit and a AAA arm maybe more.

Bucs Dugout Next Years Draft

Now that all the top players have been signed including Strasburg, so we know they won't be re-entering the draft next year, what does the draft look like in terms of top talent for next year?  This year there were supposedly 2 top talents in Dustin Ackley and Stephen Strasburg and the next several picks were all about equal.  We all now the pirates drafted Sanchez who some believe in and others don't, but will that be the same thing next year, or will the pirates be able to draft an elite prospect if they some how fall to the 4th pick again next year?

For those in the know, will you please enlighten us.

Bucs Dugout LaRoche Traded

On twitter Perrotto and Dejen both are saying LaDouche has been traded, I was very happy to hear the news that he was gone and I haven't even found out who it was to or who it was for.  I hope we got some decent propects or players back but im not going to hold my breath seeing as he hasn't done much of anything lately and we really are selling low on this guy.  Has anyone else seen these reports?

Bucs Dugout Pedro is batting .366 in July

That is some encouraging news, I didn't see if hes strikeout numbers were down but still this is some good shit.  Also Tabata is on an 11 game hitting streak and Lastings Milledge is tearing the cover off the ball.  Im liking everything im seeing down on the farm, hopefully these guys can improve on their numbers and Help out the Ball Club as soon as possible.

Lets hope the Pirates are getting off on the right foot for the second half of the season with last nights Walk-Off

Bucs Dugout Pedro Alvarez

Im liking what Im seeingTwo more homeruns and 6 RBI last night for the Hillcats, a few more nights like this would really be welcomed by all of us im sure  http://www.piratesreport.com/page/content.detail/id/500887/Hillcats-split-with-Myrtle-Beach.html?nav=5027

On a side note, does any one really think that Adam Laroche i worth anything on the trading block?  I just think he is a complete bum and will be happy to get anything for him at the deadline.

Bucs Dugout I think the pirates should work things out with jack

and just resign him for next year, with a club option for like 2 million or so a year.  He is worth more to this team than he would be with anyone else and he really can pick it better than anyone else in the league.  I don't think he is going to the savior but he will be a nice stop gap before Sano(cross your fingers) or Mercer/D'arnaud get here.

Happy draft day to all.

Bucs Dugout If we were to trade jack...

Who is the most likely candidate?  The only team I can think of is Boston and I really can't see them giving us anybody that we would need even if we threw in another prospect.  Does anyone have any insight into this?  I get the feeling that he is definitely going to be moved by the end of the season I just don't know what to expect in return.  Do you think jack could land us a decent return or am I just dreaming?
