Diary of Bonds and Rose....
....IMHO Barry Bonds and his extremely overgrown cranium are about as worthy of cooperstown as a loin cloth from mark macguire. oh wait a minute there are way too many similarities in this conversation.
Where do I even keep myself out of this topic????
People are starting so many unrelative diaries lately that it is completely unbelievable. I completely understand that there is not a whole lot in the area of news at the current moment.. News is on the horizon hopefully.
Tickets for the last series.
I was able to borrow a computer to post this real quick.
I am very sorry!
I am sorry to use space for a new diary, but I should apologize for my inappropriate behavior.
2007 Cubs = 2006 Tigers???
I noticed a lot of negativity on the open thread today probably caused by this recent losing streak.
Michael Barrett and why I think he should stay.
Being a catcher growing up from little league through Legion Ball, this is a position that I am passionate about. It is hard for me to comment on his defense this year as I have not been able to "see" him play over here in the desert.
In the words of Colossus I believe..
...NO HITTER, NO HITTER, NO HITTER!
I don't think that it would really jinx a guy playing for another team anyway.
Our good ole boy Maddog is 4 innings through a no-hitter in Cincy.
Not another duplicate diary!
Someone that we haven't talked about lately is Wade Miller.
Today's non-baseball diary.
I hope I set this link up properly as I haven't used this style before.
Tonight I caught this story on Tedy Bruschi and a little boy named Andrew Geracoulis and the Make A Wish Foundation.
Sosa's return to baseball??
I haven't been able to find anything on the internet regarding this. ESPN just reported for the first time at 5:55am local time in the middle east that Sammy Sosa is contemplating a return for the 2007 season.
POSITIVE POST!!!
OK guys, let's try a little something different. I have been just as guilty as the next person but let us try something a little different.
Is the National League Falling Short?
Why is the National League slipping what seems to be further behind the American Leaugue?
Would Florida take Pierre back?
Here is an excerpt from the Marlins' blog: "If management had the wherewithal to trade some prospects for a Barry Zito or a Juan Pierre (wouldn't that be something), the team might just be poised for a run."
A lot of there fans are being pretty optomistic because of their 17-6 run in the last 23 games, but if they started to approach the wild card race; would it be possible to trade JP back to Florida.
Talk of a new manager.
Everyone keeps talking about firing Dusty. As I recently stated, I am now on the bandwagon to fire Dusty Baker...
What Hendry does for the Cubs?
Everyone keeps pointing the finger at Dusty Baker or specific Cubs in general. Sure we are having yet another horrible season and fingers can be pointed in many directions. I am a cub fan that wants to eventually see "next year". I am willing to sit through a couple more "bad years" as we build a contender, but it seems that is never the direction that we are headed. Here are some examples of what our wonderful Jim Hendry has done over the last few years:
2003
This was a good year for Hendry
Traded Mark Bellhorn (and a pitcher) for Jose Hernandez... okay maybe he knew what he was doing because Hernandez ended up being our bait for Aramis and Kenny Lofton.
*Traded Damian Miller to Oakland for a little cash and a player to be named.
*Traded Choi to Florida for Lee.(Great move) *2004
Signed Greg Maddux (still going good)
*Multi-team trade. We get Nomar and Matt Murton (everyone knew Nomar is a huge injury risk, but still not a bad chance)
*Signed Neifi Perez(insert your own comment here)
*Declined option on Moises(a solid player)
*Declined option on Grudzielanek(he has only batted .294 and .321 in the last 2 seasons after batting .314 and .307 for the cubs)
*2005
*Signed Michael Barrett.(Good Move in my book)
*Signed Jeromy Burnitz.
*Traded future prospect for P Steven Randolph then cut him right away.
*Traded Sosa for Hairston, Fontenot, and Crouthers and it cost us cash.(yeah I know "WHO?". anyway it was good to see Sammy go)
*Traded Farnsworth for P Novoa and INF Moore.(Another trade that cost us but at least he was gone)
*Re-signed Rusch for $6M guarantee plus bonuses(After all 2004 was his first year with an ERA below 4.00)
*Traded Remlinger for Olivio Astacio.(This guy is gone from the map, probably bagging groceries by now)
*Signed Jones and Mabry, traded 3 pitchers for Pierre.(Jones would be great if there were no lefties in the majors)
*Signed Wade Miller(somebody has to pay his doctor bills)
*Traded Corey Patterson for INF Spears and P Perez(Both are in Daytona, Spears is batting .221 and Perez is 0-2 with a 6.68 ERA)
What I am trying to get at is the person that needs to go is Jim Hendry. His job has to be that of a salesperson when negotiating with other teams. He goes into these trade talks saying, "I'll trade you this Jaguar for you Toyota!
