Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry sustains life-threatening injuries in auto accident.

This sounds serious. Please pray for him.

Updating a previous item, the Charlotte Observer reports that Bengals WR Chris Henry suffered "life-threatening" injuries when he fell out of the back of a pickup truck in Charlotte (NC) Wednesday.
Henry reportedly "came out" of the truck during a domestic dispute with his fiancee, a Charlotte native. He is currently being treated at the Carolinas Medical Center, where he was transported by paramedics. As Henry's fiancee was driving away in the pickup, he allegedly jumped into the bed and ultimately fell or was forced out. Henry was in Charlotte to finalize wedding plans. The nature of his injuries is unknown, but police say Henry is still alive

If the New Orleans Saints are going to have a perfect regular season, there’s a growing chance they’ll have to wait several hours longer.

Multiple sources around the NFC South and the NFL say there is a strong chance the Saints’ final regular-season game, which is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Carolina, could be "flexed’’ to a Sunday night game, which will be the final game of the season for the entire NFL because there is no Monday night game that week.

Currently, the Giants and Redskins are scheduled for the Sunday night time slot. But the sources say the league is looking strongly at putting the Saints in prime time, if they remain undefeated. The league rules about flexing allow a six-day window for changing the final game. Some exploration into the logistics into a change already has been done. In other weeks, decisions about flexing a game must be made at least 12 days out.

The exception for Week 17 means the league could wait to see if the Saints make it to 15-0 before making a decision.

Awesome! But, what if Payton decides to rest some starters that night? This would certainly bring some added pressure we may not desire. Oh screw it! How many times have we had this chance and how many more times will we get it? None and probably none.

Charlie Kurtz, proprietor of Charlie's Saints Corner, remembered the day Jerry The Rat, a regular at his watering hole, put his Budweiser aside and began singing, "It's Cryin' Time Again in Ol' New Orleans." It was Pearl Harbor Day, December 7.

Jerry The Rat had just watched a member of the San Francisco 49ers kick a field goal in overtime to defeat the New Orleans Saints 38-35.

The Saints led at halftime 35-7. They led 20-2 in first downs and 324-21 in total yards.

But miraculously, as their record dropped to 0-14, they had again found a way to lose a game that was then the greatest comeback in NFL history.

"We used to party here past midnight," moaned Kurtz. "Now we're closing at 7 o'clock. That shouldn't happen, not in this city. But that's how depressed people are."

This is a great read!

Tracy Porter returns to practice

As reported by the Times-Pic Saints injury report, he returned on a limited basis and is doubtful to play this Sunday.

Cornerback Tracy Porter returned to the practice field on a limited basis Friday for the first time in four weeks since spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He's still listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at Atlanta, but it was a good sign that he should be back in plenty of time for the Saints' playoff run.

Other injury report notables:

Tailback Mike Bell is listed as questionable for Sunday's game after missing practice Thursday and Friday. Both he and Coach Sean Payton said Bell just had some soreness following last Sunday's game at Washington, so he hasn't been ruled in or out for this week.

Receiver Lance Moore is also listed as questionable after practicing on a limited basis throughout the week with ankle and hamstring injuries.

Knowing Porter is at least able to practice on a limited basis sure does make me feel better about the playoffs. I say hold him out until the Panthers game. Let that knee fully heal and get him some work then, if he needs it. I doubt he will though. Actually, it may be best for him to play in the Bucs game the week before, if he is able. That way he'd get some time on the Superdome turf where most of the postseason games will be played. Hopefully, no more CBs will get injured before then, which might cause them to rush him back too early.

Sounds like a bunch of Colts homers over there. I agree that Manning is having an MVP type season, but the way some dismiss Brees as an MVP candidate makes little sense.

New Orleans Saints win spells doom for fan's flat-screen HD television - ESPN

NEW ORLEANS -- A Louisiana man who bet against the New Orleans Saints has lost his 60-inch high-definition, flat-screen TV to a backyard firing squad, but he also became an Internet star.

Wayne A. Spring told his friends that if New Orleans beat the Washington Redskins on Sunday, anyone who wanted could come to his house and shoot his television.

"I was a Saints fan, but used to be they never could win and I admit I was a fair-weather fan," Spring said on Thursday. "And there was all that 'Who-Datting' going on, online, so I just decided to go against the grain."

Things were looking good until the Saints tied the game and sent it into overtime.

Spring, a nurse who owns a medical staffing company, said as soon as the undefeated Saints kicked the winning field goal, his phone started ringing.

About a dozen Saints fans, toting firearms and a case of beer, showed up at his home in Albany, some 50 miles northwest of New Orleans, and shot up his TV in the back yard.

Spring put the video on YouTube and says it has had over 145,000 hits in three days.

OMFG! This redneck insanity is actually being reported by the Associated Press and ESPN! I've just lost all respect for both. Come on, man!

Greer could be back in time for the regular season finale at Carolina if the Saints want to get him some live work, but more likely he will remain sidelined until their playoff opener.
