Am I Missing Something?
Nene for $13.4 per year? What the hell were we doing offering Jordan $11 per year when all it would have taken was $14.5-15 to get Nene?
What the hell is going on here?
I would have definitely used my amnesty on Biedrins to bring in Nene for that cheap.

GSW Fan Here
Sup guys, I had a question for you. How is DeAndre Jordan valued by your club? Do you guys view him as a must re-sign type player or would you be alright without him? How do you guys view Kaman also?
From our side, Jordan is a total beast and Kaman is totally overrated. A lot of us are hoping the W's go after Jordan hard. How much do you think it'll take to sign him? I know he's restricted so what are you guys comfortable paying him to have him stay? I thought he would get a $10-12 mil/year contract.
I'd also like to hear a break down of the current GSW roster from an outside club's perspective.
On a side note, thought you guys would ball last year. Big disappointment.
CP3 to GSW Scenario - John Hollinger ESPN
Hollinger shows a scenario where the W's empty the roster for CP3... There were about 7 other scenarios around the league so take it for what it's worth. Insider article so I cut and pasted: ----------------------- Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza and Jarrett Jack to Golden State for Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis, Klay Thompson, Ekpe Udoh and Dorell Wright. Would CP consider Golden State? The Bay Area is the nation's fourth-largest market and has drawn huge crowds to see awful teams for the past two decades. He'd get to play with a great pick-and-roll finisher in David Lee and stay with his best buddy Jack, and he joins some solid role players on a franchise that is both willing to spend and in a good financial position to do so. Sadly, including Udoh in the deal means we'll never get to see how many times a game CP could hit him in the head with a pass. This deal would leave the Warriors a bit shorthanded on the wings, especially if Reggie Williams walks. But using the amnesty on either Charlie Bell or Andris Biedrins and topping it off with the "under-cap" MLE should allow them to fill those spots relatively easily; they won't be lacking for volunteers to play with CP, that's for sure. From New Orleans' end, what's nice about this deal is that it's not a "give-up" strategy -- the Hornets would still have a real team, and a fairly young one at that. The only drawback is that the Warriors can't put any enticing draft picks into the deal because they already owe a future first to New Jersey from the horrendous Marcus Williams trade a couple years ago. Their past two first-rounders -- Thompson and Udoh -- are the best they can do.
The West
Following up on JustSomeName's recent Fanshot.......I doubt we'll have a legit shot at making the playoffs this year, although not out of the question. Taking it easy now and waiting to get in the sweepstakes for CP3/DERON/HOWARD is very risky in itself. Ask yourself honestly, what is the chance of one of them WANTING to come play in Oakland? That's what it's going to take and I just don't see that happening.
With our 3 biggest and longest term contracts in Lee, Ellis and Biedrins....the reality is most fans want 2 of the 3 if not all 3 players gone....NOW. I think we need to be active in upgrading our team by any means possible. If that means dealing Ellis or amnesying Lee or Biedrins to bring in an upgrade at any of those positions, I think we need to do it because the reality is, CP3, Howard and Deron most likely would never willingly come and play in Oakland.
Back to the title of this post....I was looking at the West and how teams stacked up. Here's my breakdown.
1. Lakers - They're gonna be healthy and nasty
2. OKC - Young and only getting better.
3. Dallas - A lot depends on their FA's in Chandler and Butler, but they should still be up there.
4. SA - I think they take a significant step back this year. All their players are on the decline. By significant step back, I mean 4th seed
5. This is where it gets tricky because the rest of the teams are so close and so much depends on FA starting 12/9 but I would go....Memphis
6. NO
7. Portland
8. Denver
9. LAC
10. Phoenix
11. GSW
12. Houston
13. Utah
14. Sac
15. Minnesota
Now, I can easily see spots 6-12 really playing musical chairs and it being a close race for the final spots. Denver might fall off the map losing Nene, and potentially JR Smith and others to FA/China. I think Utah is in big trouble. Houston doesn't scare me. Phoenix is solid but old. Clippers are an anomoly. I thought they'd be good last year, but disappointed in a huge way. I think with a solid FA addition they'll be tough, especially if they resign Jordan. Portland battles injuries every year so I could see them slip. But right now I would put GSW in the 10-11 spot.
I'm curious to see where others view our current roster and what they will do this year?
Gay, Ellis, Amnesty, West, Smith, Nene, Chandler, Jordan....synopsis
Here's my take on everything that's been rumored the past two days:
Nene - I think he's the Warriors main target, but it sounds like he wants to win a championship, which makes me guess we realistically have no chance at signing him.
Chandler - I just heard this today that the Warriors are interested. He wants to leave the Mavs because he won't get paid enough. I'm sorry, is it just me or does there seem to be too much hype around this guy? Paying $16mil for Tyson Chandler seems completely ridiculous. I'm not saying he wouldn't be an upgrade over anyone we've had in a long time, but I wouldn't even entertain the idea of paying him the MAX.
Gay - I guess we can forget about that. Memphis is not interested.
West - I think this is the Warriors doing their due diligence and feeling out everything. Lacob and Guber are smart dudes and I don't see them shelling out a bunch of money for a 31 year old shooting PF coming off knee surgery. I don't see any seriousness to this rumor.
Rondo - I'd love to see us make a play for him. If that means giving up Curry, that's just fine with me. My hunch tells me Curry might want to leave in 2 years anyways and go play closer to home.
Here's what I would like to see:
Gay and Rondo
Anyone hear the Spears interview on KNBR yesterday when he leaked the rumor that one West Coast GM told him that he heard a Monta for Gay rumor?
I would do this in a heartbeat. Even though I think both players are overrated for the amount of money the make related to their contributions to winning, I would still do it.
Then I saw the Rondo rumor. If we could get Gay for Monta, I would offer Curry for Rondo. While Curry can shoot the lights out, Rondo does everything else better. Defend, pass, go to the hole.
Blame the players
Here's the bottom line. 90% of the players in the NBA are uneducated thugs. How do people without a college education become so entitled?
The owners OWN the team....you are part of an organization, the thought of a player earning 50% of an organization is ludacris. They should be earning 25% tops.
What the owners need to do to these greedy b*&&tards is to let them bitch and whine and go play in Europe. Open the league back up to players who actually want to play under their terms. I guarantee you'd have 85% of the players accepting the owners new deal.
The 15% (Kobe, Carmelo, Lebron, Deron Williams, etc) basically all the prima donnas of the league will complain, take their talents to Europe where they can get paid, realize how much it sucks over there and then come home. I'd rather watch players who want to play for the sport than a bunch of Kobe's who want to hold out and be greedy bit*&&s and ruin it for the rest of us.
There's not another organization in the world where employees make even close to 50% of profit sharing. What makes the NBA different?
Am I being emotional or does this make sense to anyone else?

I think I'm disappointed
Don't get me wrong....I "think" I like the draft picks we got yesterday but can someone answer me this? I thought we were supposed to get better defensively. With Kawhi Leonard, Alec Burks, Chris Singleton all on the board at #11, why do we take the kid who plays the worst defense out of all of them? Also, we don't trade Monta? After all that hoopla about a trade, we still have him. Now maybe I'm being impatient, but I hear all these fans talk about what a great draft it was and they love the new "direction" the ownership is moving...... I'm sorry, new "direction"? This seems the exact same as before. Take the best scorer available and we'll worry about the whole defense thing later. I dunno....with Kawhi on the board I was so happy, yet to be let down again. I'm not saying Klay won't be good, but I was hoping for a Monta trade and a drafting of Singleton or Leonard. Time will tell.

Vote: What type of GSOM'er are you?
Around draft time particularly, I find myself scouring websites such as hoopshype, realgm and gsom to an unhealthy degree. I was wondering if my obsessions were in the top 90%, which is my guess. I find myself visiting this website about 3-4 times per day during this time of the year.
But I'm curious, how often do you visit the GSOM website?
Vote on the poll and lets see how obsessive the best fans in the league stack up.
Bigs Available
Ok,
I did some looking around at free agents and compiled a list of bigs who I felt would be good...decent...or basically better than what we currently have in terms of toughness, defense, rebounding and size.
Here they are, in no particular order:
Glen "Big Baby" Davis (U = Unrestricted) - I feel torn on this guy
Joel Pryzbilla (U) - I think we could get him for cheap and he could be of service.
Tyson Chandler (U) - He'll get a big pay day after his perfoemance and will probably re-up with Dallas.
Nene (U) - Would need a sign and trade
Jeff Foster (U) - getting old....iffy
DeAndre Jordan (R = restricted) - Love the way he plays, but probably will cost too much.
Marc Gasol (R) - Will cost too much, would need to do a sign and trade.
Luc Richard Mmmbahmoutayheyhey (R) - Great defender, not much else.
Kris Humphries (U) - Dude put up ridiculous numbers once he started banging Kim Kardashian, but now they're getting married so his incentive might not be as high.
Carl Landry (U) - Undersized, but love the motor
Ronny Turiaf (U) - see above
Chuck Hayes (U) - see above
Greg Oden (R) - risky
Samuel Dalambert (U) - I always feel he is overpaid and overrated.
Reggie Evans (U) - Hate this guy, but he's tough.
AK-47 (U) - Not really a big, but a great defender
Of those, I feel that Kris Humphries, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Ronny Turiaf, Joel Pryzbilla, Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes might be the ones that we could get for $3-5 mill/year and would help the most given we probably can't sign anyone else.
DeAndre Jordan would be #1 on my list.
What are your thoughts on Oden? I feel torn whether or not we should take a risk on him. Wait, Jerry West said we need to take risks....is this what he meant?
Now, I might have made a mistake here or there with player options, other technicalities, etc etc. But this is a rough list of some bigs this summer who might be up for a signing.
Your thoughts?
Rondo available for right offer?
1:10PM ET
Boston CelticsUPDATE No. 2: Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated tweeted this Tuesday night: "I think Rondo is available for the right (big) offer."
So while Grousbeck has spoken otherwise, the whispers remain.
---
UPDATE: Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck was a guest on WEEI on May 25 and according to CSNNE.com, he said he doesn't think Garnett, Pierce, Allen or Rondo will be traded.
"I love the Big 3, the Big 4. I love those guys," said Grousbeck. "I think the fans love seeing them together. I haven't heard anything from Doc [Rivers] or Danny [Ainge] or anybody else about anything we're planning to do."
Grousbeck also said, "We ought to look to keep these guys together, and add two or three more pieces if we can, aggressively."
-- Nick Borges
----
In his Wednesday chat, ESPN's Chad Ford noted this about whether Boston will do any deals this summer.
"Yes, I think Danny Ainge will shake things up this summer," he wrote. "I think Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce are safe. Not sure about anyone else on the roster."
While it may sound a little nuts that Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett aren't on Ford's "safe" list, remember that Ainge did pull the trigger on trading Kendrick Perkins at the deadline -- a popular player and leader in the locker room.
As such, any deal that could improve the roster for the future involving Garnett or Allen might not be entirely out of the question this offseason.
---------------------------
Seems a bit contradictory from the title, but if this is the case, Warriors, please offer Curry and filler (Udoh most likely) for Rondo. Then trade Monta for Iggy.Rondo
Iggy
Wright
Lee
Biedrins (hopefully sign DeAndre Jordan)SICK!!!
Ellis will be traded
I think we can all agree on one thing.
Social media is OUT OF CONTROL. They blog, tweet and report on things that aren't even there. But here's a question for all Warrior fans?
When was the last time you remember this much publicity about one of our players getting traded?
It's been a while.
If this many sources are reporting it, my gut tells me that they're not all lying. You hear sources saying things all over the field from:
He's the 3rd best SG in the league!
What else is he going to say? "Yeah, I want to trade him for Iggy or Rudy, but it probably won't happen so we'll make the best with what we have?" That's not a grown man move. To...
This angle makes me laugh. Social media can sway message boards very easily. On first reports a week ago that the W's were going to trade Monta for Iggy, this site blew up and, in the majority, was all for it. Most of the media was saying how stupid Philly was for offering that.
Then, reports came out saying how Monta is not going to be traded, we want more, he's the 3rd best SG in the league, now we want Gay, Granger or Noah is laughable. After hearing all those, now the W's are all set against trading Monta? What's changed? Nothing...Iggy not only (still) makes our team better, but he takes us in the direction we want to go. Defense! Yet after hearing that, GSOM has swayed back to wanting to keep Ellis, "because he's worth more than Iggy, or because he's the 3rd best SG in the league."
Make the jump to see what is going to happen. (imo)
Swag...and other thoughts
Sure seems that all of the action surrounding the W's the past month has centered around swag. Bringing in people highly respected and/or those with a lot confidence, ones people listen to. I say we go one step further and hire a man who has more swag than anyone. I have no idea what he's up to or if it's possible. I'm talking about.... Gary Payton Bring him in as an assistant. If you want to change the culture of the team to winners who are defensive minded and will do whatever it takes to get the job done, then no better to have someone like "The Glove" on your staff. Btw, I love everything the dubs have done this past month. I hope the Iguodala trade goes through and I have no doubt in my mind that these Klay Thompson rumors are a smoke screen. I think they will target Singleton, Faried, or I'd actually love to see them trade down and pick bpa.

Nolan Smith......
I think the Warriors should target Nolan Smith in the draft. There's no big man who is worthy trading up for or taking at 11, actually, there's no big man period. I really like Nolan Smith's game. He doesn't wow you, but I think he'll be a solid NBA player for the next 12-15 years. I think of him as a Shane Battier type. A solid role player at the least with the potential to be an NBA starter. It doesn't look like he's worth the #11 pick so I say we trade back into the mid/late 1st round and take him. Our priority should be to dump Biedrins for anything possible. a future 2nd or lottery protected 1st if we could swing that, doubt it though. With Monta and Steph logging so many minutes, we need a quality back up PG/SG to help out. Acie Law is NOT the answer. Thoughts?
Poll: Are you still watching the games?
Personally, I've completely lost interested in watching the games. This is the first season in my life that I've ever said this. I'm wondering why?
I think my expectations are higher this year than they've been in a long long time. Even though they were out of the playoff hunt by the All-Star break in the past, I still watched our D-Leaguers ball it up. This year however, I'm just over it. Where is everyone else at?
Can someone explain what this trade does for us?
I don't quite understand what this trade actually does for us? Why would we trade for him and then buy him out? What is the benefit of that? We will immediately have 2 less players on our roster. Is ownership basically saying we're going to dump salary now, as opposed to two months from now and we would rather have D leaguer's on our roster than Troy Murphy? Financially, is there a benefit to buying him out now as opposed to allowing his contract to end in April? The way I take this is..... Playing Troy Murphy would actually "hurt" our team, so we'd rather pay you your money, get nothing out of you, than see if you could help us on the floor. Seems like an odd move. B. Wright and Gadz could help (a bit). I guess this is all about acquiring a 2nd round pick? Anyways, does anyone have a firm grasp on all of the moving parts to this deal?

Fitz is an idiot....Interview with Spears.
Skip to a little past half way for W's talk.
Wow, I don't know if anyone else found that painful to listen to, but I feel that Spears was arguing with our most biased GSOM 13 year old fan.
Fitz's evaluation of the W's is way off.
And when you have a guest on your show, you shouldn't whine, complain, call him crazy and constantly interrupt him.
I feel like I'm hearing a crazed fan and a respected journalist go head to head. Silly.

What our expirings and trading Monta can do for us.....
This might seem like a lot, but in theory, I think we could do something like this to really strengthen our overall team and especially the defense. Not only that, but we would be a BIG team rather than the Nellieball that we've been used to for the past 5 years.
I think most importantly, if something like this could go down and we could get rid of Monta's contract, we would be in a good place financially.
Warriors Interested in Iguodala
It sure seems that Philly might be willing to deal Iggy for expirings. If so, we could steal him.
If this all went down, depth chart would look like this:
PG - Curry/Douglas
SG - Iguodala/Reggie
SF - Wallace/Wright
PF - Lee/Udoh/Amundson
C - Biedrins/Udoh/Curry
The only way this would happen is if Philly and Charlotte are willing to cut salary. It sure sounds like Philly might be willing to, not so sure about Charlotte. The other thing about this is, we're taking on salaries that are only for 2 or 3 years in Iguodala and Wallace. I'm willing to gamble that.
If ownership could pull this off, we would be a tough team to beat.
My Venting Session
Ok, During the Clippers and Hornets games, I turned the game off, first time I can ever remember doing that. I don't know if it's because my expectations are higher than they've been in a while or because they have such fundamental flaws that seem to get worse before they get better.
I'm going to list the things that are driving me crazy starting with the "most" going to the "least".
#1 - Biedrins - Where do I begin? I actually like the guy. I think he’s a nice kid with good tools, but he’s regressing much faster than he should be progressing. The thing that makes me yell at the TV most and explain to my fiancée why I think he might actually be mildly retarded is his defense, or lack thereof. The whole jumping with the hands up in the air while players CONTINUALLY jump into his body and draw fouls boggles my mind. What also perplexes me is why no one seems to talk about it.
If he could learn how to avoid contact and just contest shots he would be able to stay on the court and be a value to us. We’ve all seen his 20+ rebound games, it’s great. He’s active, he’s confident, he’s valuable. Right now, I could argue that the team plays better with Gadzuric or Udoh on the court.
For someone who’s been in the league, what 7 years? He should understand that this league has turned into an actor’s league. Paul Pierce, Dwayne Wade, C. Paul. MANU GINOBILI, Corey Maggette. These are all players that “act” their way to the line and the must lick their chops when they see Biedrins standing there with his hands up in the air. Please change this Biedrins.
And what’s up with his new, facing the player on a box out and wrapping them up, thus disabling your ability to grab a rebound. Has anyone else noticed this? Where in the world did you learn that Andris? Stick to throwing your butt into someone with your hands extended, preventing them from getting around you.
#2 - On The Ball Defense – Monta and Steph….ay ay ay. You two are amazing on offense, but holy swiss cheese, you guys seem indifferent when guarding the opposition. You cannot allow players to get around you as easily as they do. This is the root to our defensive woes. When players get around you at will, you’re basically relying on Lee and Biedrins to help out. Not necessarily intimidating defenders. Lee, opponents know you can get your shot off against him, and Biedrins, they know they can draw a foul.
In my opinion, it’s a switch you can flip on and off, and they just don’t seem to want to switch it on. Example: you see players like D. Wright, Artest, C. Paul get feisty, get low to the ground and you can tell all they want to do is stop their opponent. You actually saw it in Monta when he and Kobe were going at it in the 4th quarter the other week. It needs to be like that all the time.
#3 - Smart’s Rotations – What is the most glaring hole with this team? I would argue low post offense and overall defense. What players on this team give you the best shot at filling those voids? I would say Udoh and B. Wright. Don’t get me wrong, I understand B. Wright isn’t a great on the ball defender, but he’s a great weak side helper. So my question is….why do they sit? And not only sit, but sit the entire game? Game after game after game? It sure would make sense to me to play both of them 5-10 minutes per night. Enough said.
#4 - Curry’s tendencies – Please tell me I’m not the only one who notices these two things and whom it bugs. Offense – Have you noticed how Curry nonchalantly dribbles the ball up the court. Kind of half assed, kind of swaggery, kind of sloppily? He kind of slaps the ball, takes a few steps before dribbling. Every time I see it I think the ref is gonna blow the whistle on him, but it’s the NBA. He’s so fundamentally sound, but it’s like he forces himself to take every inch of sloppiness the NBA will allow him to take. I don’t know if it’s a mixture of wanting to look cool or what. You NEVER see the player whom I think he has the potential to be a lot alike, Steve Nash do this. You NEVER see Chris Paul do this. You never saw John Stockton do it. I think it carries even further when you see his one handed passes or behind the back out of bounds. Please, take every possession very seriously and stick to the fundamentals.
Defense – I remember this summer when he was on Team USA and I saw an interview where he stated he wanted to take pride in his defense, that that was the thing he was working on the most. I do think he tries to take pride in his defense, but that’s the problem sometimes. I think he gets so set in stopping someone, that he forgets about situations. Like letting Collinson beat him, and then foul him with 4 seconds to go, putting him on the line and tying the game. He gets so set on stopping someone, that even when he’s beat, he still tries to reach or block the shot, when he needs to just let it go and focus on staying in front of his man. I guess he’ll learn with time (unlike Biedrins).
Well I guess that’s it. Other than that I hope they completely shake things up. I like where our cap is this summer. I like all the money coming off the books, but I think we need to go in a defensive direction. I know how much people in the Bay Area enjoy basketball, especially when it’s played the right way. This is what I want to see more than anything. Warriors I love you, but I had to let loose here.

Trade for Teague
Looks like Teague is falling out of the rotation in Atlanta. The W's should trade B. Wright for him. Do you think Atlanta would take that? I am not sold on Acie Law getting double digit minutes each game. I think we need an upgrade and more depth.
Here's what needs to happen...(IMO)
I've been reading a lot of blogs and fan posts lately. There seems to be a divide, two sets of fans:
1. Those who think Monta is a "superstar", an all-star, whatever you want to call it that puts him in that elite category.
2. Those who think Monta is a great player, undoubtedly our best and most exciting player, but one who has inflated numbers on a mediocre team. A player who puts up ridiculous numbers, but doesn't REALLY help the team win that much. A player who has deficiencies and if he is your number 1 player, you'll never go deep in the playoffs.
I fall into the 2nd category. Here's what I'd like to see...
My message to Lacob and Guber is, SHAKE THINGS UP!! It sounds like that's what they want to do and I'm hoping for it soon.
Lets face it, the Warriors aren't going to be a top 5 team with their current roster. 4 players out of their starting 5 are average to below average defensively. D. Wright being a bit above average.
Curry, Monta and D. Wright's stocks are probably at an all time high. I think Curry will be very good, but I don't know about great. He might be and he's the riskiest player to trade, but hear me out.
I don't know exactly how this would go down, but I'd like to see Monta, Curry, Biedrins and maybe even Lee in addition to expirings shipped out for:
C. Paul, Iguodala, Z. Randolph and Deandre Jordan.
Complete overhaul.
I think we could potentially get New Orleans' ear if we offered Curry and Biedrins or Curry and a few expirings for Paul. Maybe even Curry, Biedrins and VladRad. Some combination of that sort.
I think we could easily do a straight up trade for Monta and Iguodala, if not straight through Philly, then maybe a 3 team trade. I think we could even get a draft pick or a decent role player in addition. Maybe Iggy and Speights for Monta and an expiring.
I think we could easily get Z. Randolph straight up for Lee, again, maybe a 3rd team is needed.
And I think we should target DeAndre Jordan heavily this offseason.
It might seem like we are getting the raw end on a few of these deals, but look at it in totality.
PG - C. Paul
SG - Iguodala
SF - D. Wright
PF - Z. Randolph
C- D. Jordan
All of a sudden we have 3 things we haven't had for a long long time.
1. 4 out of 5 starters are above average defenders, two possibly considered "lock down" in Paul and Iggy.
2. We have one weakness on defense, Randolph, but he gives us another thing we've been lacking, a low post scoring presence. When was the last time we had that? Webber?
3. A TRUE floor general, a true leader at point. I was hoping Curry was going to make the jump from last year and be that guy who averages 8-8.5 assists this year. He's averaging 5.9. I think he has it in him to do better, but for some reason we're just not seeing it.
Anyways, it's a total shake up, but in my opinion, it's exactly what we need.
If Lacob is true to his word, then paying over the luxury isn't an issue and we could feasibly pull this off.
Thoughts?
Thoughts about the Portland game.
Well that was depressing.
There were a few things that I just did not understand from the Portland game and I hate point fingers, but I am, and it's directed towards Coach Smart.
In my opinion, the few minutes when the W's looked the best were when Gadzuric, Amundson and Wright were all playing together. The W's weren't hitting shots the entire game, but at least during that short stretch, they were crashing the glass, playing gritty D, coming up with second and third chances.
Granted, they looked terrible while doing this, but at least it wasn't one shot and out, and they were staying competitive.
What really didn't make sense to me was that Portland was banged up. They had Oden, Camby and Pryzbilla all out. When we went with Lou and Gadz, it showed that we could have had a huge advantage all night long in the frontcourt positions. However, Smart played Amundsun, Gadz and Udoh, 15, 10 and 0 minutes respectively.
That made absolutely no sense to me.
Secondly, Acie Law is a waste. I would rather see Lin or Bell in there than him. He for some reason, has this swagger about him, but why? He's terrible? He looks decent against terrible competition, but he looks really bad against anyone who plays solid defense. He can't shoot and commits stupid fouls on D.
Lastly, I hate to say it, because Monta is our best player, but we need to trade him. I feel he is going to be a perennial 25ppg type player who never makes the playoffs. He's a padded stats guy who on a good team would average 17 ppg. Do you really think Popovich would allow him to chuck 23 shots per game in the one-on-one fashion that he does? He would be benched so quick.
I'm happy with Curry, Lee and Biedrins. While Biedrins has his limitations, he is a very solid role player, with a lot of room to grow. We haven't seen the health Lee yet and when we do, I think he'll produce more than he is right now. Curry, I think we can all agree is our favorite and the future of our franchise.
Therefore, that leaves the 2 and 3 positions open. D. Wright, I'd feel just fine giving him the 6th man role. If we could get someone like Iggy, I think D. Wright would be a great role player. But we need an impact player at either the 2 or 3 positions.
I think what's going to happen is the W's might make one small move, nothing worthy of getting excited about, but this summer, they will be actively seeking a top 20 player with Monta, Biedrins and all of our expirings. I hope it's Iggy or someone of that calibur.
What I can tell from the box scores....
Alls I know is that it's B.S. that Warriors aren't televising any of their pre-season games. But through the box scores, I've picked up on a few things.
1. David Lee is going to help this team so much. All the Randolph lovers out there will come full circle to this trade. He is articulate, fundamental, positive, and most of all, he plays the game the right way. Bay Area fans are drawn to this quality and he will quickly become a fan favorite.
2. Dorrell Wright is doing too much. I really don't like what I see from his lines each night. 2-11, 4-14, and 5 3 pt attempts per game. Those aren't exact, but it sure seems to be this type of night. I would love to see him go 4-6 with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. I want to see him do all the small things that don't show up in a box score, but he seems to be trying to fill it. I'll have to wait to see in person, but so far, I don't like his role.
3. They will be much better on D and much worse on O. We'll see how Smart deals with a lot less firepower than him and the fans are used to.
4. Curry is turning the ball over at an alarming rate!?!? Nash, Kidd, Paul all turn the ball over a lot, so it might not be saying too much, but again....we'll see how he looks on tv.
5. I'm so happy to have brought in character guys and players who want to be part of a team. Everything I've read from a chemistry standpoint makes me really optimistic. When I think of Amundson, Udoh, Bell, Carney, Lin, Adrien it makes me so much happier than thinking of Randolph and Maggette (I will miss Morrow, Buike and Turiaf tho).
6. I think they can make a big splash this year with a trade or free agency this summer with all the expiring contracts and maybe they can get rid of Monta, bring in a bonafide 2 and/or 3, we are set.
Gonna enjoy my luxury box seat next Wednesday when we take down the Rockets.
GO WARRIORS!!!

Why Randolph will not get better/Grading Riley?
First off, let me just say how sick I am hearing about all these whiners on this site talking about how stupid this trade is and how they're gonna miss Randolph. My guess is, everyone in favor of this trade is a15yr+ fan of the Warriors and everyone against this trade is 25 year old and under. The generation of NBA Live, where a highlight dunk is more valuable than fundamentals, and winning.
IMO, there are a few reasons Randolph won't develop into that All-Star stud everyone has been hoping he would.
1. He's going from one coach, Nelson, who plays the wrong type of basketball, free and rule free and still, he found a way to not get minutes, to another coach, D'Antoni, who will not teach him the fundamentals and will let him run up and down the court doing whatever he pleases.
2. He's not smart and he doesn't have the fundamentals (for some reason, people love to overlook these two things). If you don't coach this kid, my guess is he's not going to figure it out on his own. Get ready for some of the best highlight reels in the NBA next year with Randolph wearing a Knicks jersey, but another one of your 20 mpg, 10 ppg, 5 rpg lines. While on the other hand, we'll have Lee, 20/10/4.
3. Lastly, he's behind Amare Stoudamire, who is predominantly a PF. Two things Randolph is not, a Small Forward and a Center. No way he gets 40 minutes per game anytime soon.
I feel weird saying this, but, good job Riley this summer.
Your thoughts? A's, B's, C's?
It's clear that, to at least reach the playoffs and be successful, you need at least 1, if not 2 A's on your team.
Go up and down every playoff team from the West last year. At least 1, if not 2 or 3 A's on each team.
Laker - Kobe, Gasol, Artest, Bynum, Odom (2 A's, 3 B's)
Phoenix - Nash, Amare, JRich (2 A's, 1 B)
Spurs - Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, Jefferson (maybe 3 A's, 1 B)
OKC - Durant, Green, Westbrook (1 A, 2 B's)
Dallas - Dirk Digler, Terry, Butler, Haywood (1 A, 2-3 B's)
Utah - D. Williams, Boozer, Milsap, Okur, AK47 (2 A's, 1-3B's)
Houston - K Mart, Ariza, Scola, Yao, Battier (maybe 5 B's)
Portland - Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Miller (1 A, 2-3 B's)
Now lets look at our WARRIORS (last year)
Monta, arguably our best player last year? I would give him a solid B. Great on O, not so great on D.
Curry, I would give him a solid B as well. A lot of growth took place last year, but got better and better.
Biedrins, a D. Two years ago, B.
Maggette, C. He scored, but that's about it. He ruined team flow, cohesion, and fundamental play.
Those are probably the only 4 worth mentioning because the rest is just C or lower. Randolph didn't play, and when he did, he was a C. Morrow was a C as well.
NEXT YEAR.
Curry - I think it's arguable that he's on his way to being an A. I'll put him as an A- next year (hoping no sophomore slump.)
Monta - No reason to think he'll change. B
Lee - A, B+ at the very least.
Biedrins - Hoping for a rebound and a solid B.
That puts us at 2 A's and 2 B's. If Monta can accept his role as second fiddle, he might be able to mature into an A. However, doubtful.
Any way you slice it, this team is supremely upgraded over last year. Health is always the wild card, but we now have legitimate pieces at 4 positions. And still a solid bench.
How would you grade our team as perceived by the rest of the league?
Lookin forward to next year!!
With A Weak Overall Draft - Gamble!!
That being said.....draft either Demar DeRozan or Brandon Jennings.
Here's my breakdown of our potential draftees:
Johnny Flynn - Will be a serviceable NBA PG for years to come, but never being anything more than serviceable (CJ Watson is serviceable enough). Role Player at best.
Jrue Holiday - Come on, he averaged 8 pts/game in college, just think of what he'll do in the NBA. He can play D, which will help, but I don't see him coming in and playing more than 10 mins/game. Upside - marginal. Role Player at best.
Jordan Hill - Upside - marginal. I see him being an upscale Mikki Moore type, maybe averaging 10 pts, 8 reb's per game in the near future, 15/10 - maxed upside. Probably, a Role Player, potential #3 option?
Tyreke Evans - I'm torn on him. I think he has the potential to be pretty decent for years to come. Nothing special, but I also didn't think Paul Pierce was anything special coming out of college, but there's something about him that makes him special. I think Evans might have that same knack for the game. Potential #2 or #3 option.
Terence Williams - I actually like this pick more than any of the above 4 with the exception of maybe Evans. I think this kid athletically is off the charts, awesome defender, great leaper, good passer and rebounder for his size. However, for the same reason I like Evans (heady player) it is exactly why I don't like Williams. I've watched a handful of his games and he just floats, gets lost, you don't hear his name for minutes, then in a flury, you hear his name all over the place. I think he'll be a solid NBA'er for years to come, but never a star. If we're going to draft for need. I've said it before, we need either a pass first PG or a shut down defender. So out of these 5, I say Williams or Flynn, neither of whom I'm that excited about.
Ok, on to Jennings and DeRozan:
Jennings - Hit or miss. Small, weak, not a good defender. Potential - off the charts. With the first 5 mentioned, I see their ceilings totally limited, none of those players will be a star. Jennings has an outside shot at being special. Plus, he fits the a need we have. In 5 years, Jennings might be great, but he might be out of the league, back in Europe :) My guess is Flynn and Holiday will be coming off the bench in 5 years. If they're starting they're the 4th or 5th options on their team. Add a really good Brandon Jennings with Ellis, Randolph and Biedrins and the Warriors are in Business!
DeRozan - Hit or miss. Poor handles, inconsistent shot, athletic abilitiy off the charts. Sounds like Vince Carter after 1 year at UNC. In 5 years, he might be great, and if he is, imagine that with Monta Ellis, Anthony Randolph, and Andris Biedrins. If DeRozean ends up being great, that's 4 VERY solid players on the Warriors. You add Flynn, Holiday, Evans, Williams or Hill to Ellis, Randolph and Biedrins, you know you will only have 3 very solid players.Worst case scenario, we experiment for 3 years and it doesn't pan out, but we have a glut of 2's and 3's on our roster. Azubuike, Belinelli, Maggette, Morrow can all pick up the slack.
My advice, since the draft overall is weak, gamble on something great, if it doesn't pan out, our bench has to be one of the deepest in the league, they will pick up the slack, we won't fall off that much.
