It's all over but the bitter recriminations, as FLJhawk emerges from the fray, flying up into the sky, ever higher, the Pac-12 Championship Trophy clenched in his jaws. He blazes like a second sun, far beyond the grasp of his shadowy nemesis tequilaprophet, who curses Louisville for only being able to win twice more.
The people of America will sing of this victory one day, as they eat their Wheat Thins. They will look up to the sky, hearts brimming with gratitude, crumbs flying as they proclaim: Hail FLJhawk! Hail FLJhawk! He won by at least 5 points!

We're going to spice this contest up a bit. As part of our 'Warden Bracket Challenge 2012', Northwestern Mutual has offered to award a prize pack to the our winner here at RCT if I just let you know about another contest they are doing on their Facebook page.
The Northwestern Mutual Lifelong Fan contest on Facebook, runs from now until March 21st. Here's what it's all about:

- Four randomly selected winners will have their photo posted on a Times Square billboard and will also receive a $100 VISA debit card
- The following week, Facebook users will be encouraged to vote for one of the Final Four® photos to decide who is the grand prize winner
- The grand prize winner will receive a $500 VISA debit card
- Fans can enter at the Northwestern Mutual Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/northwesternmutual
And again, the winner here will get a Northwestern Mutual March Madness prize pack, so check it out and get your picks in ASAP.
Full rules and description of Warden's(now Sax Solo's) Bracket Challenge 2012 after the jump.
Major conference KenPom pyth scores over the last 9.5 seasons. I made this to show the strange track of the Pac-10/Pac-12 --- but look at that 2008 season! The team that finished on top that season must have been pretty good, yep.
Here's a little chart that gives a different view of the KU three point defense. This chart shows how many more (or fewer points) KU opponents would have scored in a game if they "shot their average" from the 3, still taking the same number of shots.
For example, UCLA shot 14 3-pointers against KU in Maui. With UCLA's 30% 3P% they'd expect on average to sink 4.2 of them for 12.6 points. Instead, they sank 8 for 24 points, resulting in 11.4 points more than they "should have" scored.
My lazy-ass guesstimate is that, luck aside, our defense is spotting tournament-caliber teams one made 3 per game.
Mizzou basketball coach Frank Haith tied to massive Miami scandal
If there were any Tigers who thought Haith was a good hire before, there should be even fewer now.

A chart showing the excellent shooting of the 2011 Jayhawks in comparison to the not-too-shabby 2010 and 2008 teams.
You might not guess it from a couple recent games, but this year's Jayhawks have been an outstandingly, historically good shooting team.
Big 12 Team Stats, This Year vs. Last Year
Since the dawn of time, Man has known that life is too short to watch Nebraska basketball. Man barely has time to watch the Big 12 teams he actually cares about, and so to discuss the rest Man must turn to statistics. However, those statistics are skewed and untrustworthy due to all the blowout games against the Coppin States, Longwoods, Presbyterians, and Arkansas Pine Bluffs of the world. What is Man to do?
One way to get around the problem (a little bit) is to compare this season's inflated statistics to last season's inflated statistics. For example, Nebraska has the 8th best defense in the country, according to Ken Pomeroy's computer. Does that mean they're going to exit the Big 12 with a defensive bang, leaving behind them only the sound of opponent's basketballs not going into the basket? I think probably not.
So, armed with statsheet, kenpom, and a slim amount of basketball knowledge, I'll look at the points per possession stats of the Big 12 teams to try to get a sense of where they are now and what lies ahead, in terms of what we saw last year.
WARNING, this is not so much a serious analysis as a chance to squint at some graphs and make broad generalizations about the Big 12 teams.

Despite a late challenge to his tournament-long lead, KCSince88 held on to become the winner of Warden's Bracket Challenge for the 2010 tournament. All hail his ability to pick the woefully underseeded!
