Cliff Harris: …that was my job as a safety when I played, I analyze quarterbacks, and I’m telling you Tony Romo is one of the most talented quarterbacks I have ever seen, ever analyzed, ever thought about. He does things, subtle things, that the normal guy sitting in the stands wouldn’t see, or even the sportscasters wouldn’t see; I see it, and I think he’s incredible. Now it’s an attitude thing, and I am glad to see him taking it serious, because he can take this team to the Superbowl.

Miles Austin as #1 Receiver?

MJC121 wants to discuss a certain Cowboys wide receiver: Mr. Mosley, I want to know the role of WR Miles Austin this season. He showed signs of greatness last year. Is he going to be a major target for [Tony] Romo this year? And if he is, what kind of impact does he bring to an already diverse offense?

Mosley: At this point, Austin's actually Romo's favorite receiver. I'm serious. The two bonded big time in last year's training camp, and Romo has a lot of confidence in him. Romo and Roy Williams still don't appear to be on the same page in the OTAs I've observed. And Williams' insistence on talking about how Romo and him have "broken down boundaries" is sort of embarrassing. There's a chance that Austin is one of the Beast's breakout stars in '09. I had a chance to talk to him for a little while Friday. Everyone keeps asking him if he's going to be the No. 2 receiver. And you can tell it sort of frustrates him. In his mind, he has a chance to be the No. 1 receiver.

Westbrook to have surgery on injured ankle - Bleeding Green Nation

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook will have surgery to clean up some bone spurs in his right ankle, according to his agent, Todd France.

France had no timetable for Westbrook's return but characterized the procedure as minor. Another source, however, said the surgery could sideline Westbrook well into training camp.

Nothing new here but a basic summary of the Cowboy's off-season, with this conclusion:

"For now, though, I think the lack of headlines is progress enough. They've signed low-key guys who can contribute, I liked their volume approach to drafting, and they've done it all without being flashy or bringing distractions upon themselves.

"Progress: Personnel-wise, the improvements are subtle, but should be effective. More than anything else, I think everyone in the organization can benefit from a big deep breath and a sense of calm.

"Plus 1 game. 9-7 last year, 10-6 this year."

Isaiah Stanback to have knee surgery

From the DMN blog:

Wide receiver Isaiah Stanback will undergo surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee.

Stanback suffered the injury in Tuesday's workout at Standridge Stadium but attempted to practice Wednesday without much success.

He is expected to be ready for training camp that starts on July 28.

Stanback has been troubled by injury since the Cowboys took him in the fourth round in 2007. He has had shoulder surgeries in each of the last two off-seasons after suffering a foot injury as a senior at Washington.

Stanback is competing for one of the final wide receiver spots and his absence will put him behind entering camp.

Cowboys' indoor facility collapses during practice

The afternoon practice ended in horrifying fashion when the Cowboys' indoor facility collapsed.

While a violent thunderstorm pounded rain down on the roof, the lights started shaking back and forth. Then chaos broke out, as the facility collapsed and players, coaches, reporters and team personnel scrambled for safety.

Several people were trapped under the wreckage. Police and emergency personnel have arrived on the scene.

More to come.

God I hope nobody is seriously injured. Scary...

UPDATE: According to a Cowboys spokesman, at least four members of the team’s support staff are being taken to the hospital. All players and coaches are believed to be safe. Rescue personnel is still searching through the debris.

UPDATE: Main thread has more updates. Fox News is covering it extensively now too.

Good Cowboys draft analysis from Goose Gosselin. (Where i think they go off at the end is asking about team leadership and then not recognizing that the Cowboys just drafted a bunch of noted high character guys, team leaders and several captains. After that we decided to play a game of Madden this was the final game I had to win. Of course I picked the Cowboys, did minor roster changes made myself the starter and so on. Lmao. It picked the Giants because it said a bunch of aliens it knew played for them. I didn't even bother asking. Anyways I won 42 to 3 I had 200 yards recieving and 2 tds, Witten had 136 yards 3 tds I love throwing to the TE and Jay Ratliff returned a fumble for a td. That was the game.
