Brotherly Game Why, Nowak, why?

Last November 4th, Union fans woke with the hangover of a 3-1 aggregate playoff loss to the Houston Dynamo. Laced in our morning coffee that day was the hope that the club could build on a great second season and that the third might be that bridge to a Cup(s). Fast forward to the end of May 2012, a mere 6 months elapsed, and the Union are nothing less than a disaster.

How could this happen? Better yet, why did it happen? Let's discuss after the jump:

Brotherly Game An Open Letter to the Union F.O.

To Whom It May Concern,

Wow, what a difference a year makes. Do you remember the excitement last year? From the SuperDraft to First Kick and all season long? And now this year we have a winning product on the field, perhaps not yet showing verve and creativity, but winning on the field nonetheless.

Now here's my issue, we're not winning in the Front Office (if you're expecting a well-reasoned discussion who should be targeted for the next transfer window, best move along). Last night, in what should have been an amazing feeling beating a rival NY team, I left so pissed off at how the Union is running their off-field operation I discussed giving up my season tix.

With my season tickets (4), I was invited in your mailings to attend to Stadium Club post-game, a nice way to miss the traffic and kick back with a drink? Sounds "inviting", doesn't it? At the end of the game, a similar announcement was made, "Season Ticket holders, be sure to join us...etc etc". Perfect, I thought, lets allow the other 19000 fans to roll, and we'll have snacks. Come on kids! Except for one thing, you can't get there from here.

Brotherly Game What's the Long Term Strategy?

We're an expansion team. We're loaded with very young players and a sprinkling of MLS vets. This year will be a long slog through the schedule (not that I won't enjoy every minute) as we pay our dues. So it looks like the course for Year 1 is:

1 Be as competitive as possible with Le Toux and Moreno

2 Continue to get minutes for the young guys to develop them quickly  - McInerny and Torres

Now the question with strategies is, when do you adjust?

Poll
How patient should we be? What are your expectations for the Union in 2010? 2011?
I'm prepared for a lot of growing pains, even if it means 1-29

There's always room for improvement, and if they picked up a DP after the World Cup I'm for it.

If we don't win soon, I want to see more Mwanga, Salinas, Okugo. Let's see what they can do.

Brotherly Game US Cup game

Will the RBNY game be televised on Tuesday? Anyone planning on watching it? Let's get some silverware!!

Nowak has stated that he plans on playing his starters. I'd like to see Arrieta out wide again, he seemed to do a good job settling the middle against RBNY, but in TOR really helped build the attack. Califf will be back. Mwanga and McInerny looked hungry (think Jack replayed that missed header over and over in his sleep?) and Moreno and Le Toux are really developing chemistry.
