At The Hive Check out this trade

I honestly think this would be a great trade for the hornets but unfortunately I know this would never happen :( It would give Indiana the PF they want us youth, the lakers paul, and houston gasol. It also makes the Lakers eat some contract and Patrick P might be a young version of Dwest We'd also gain a lil more salary cap. So take a look and let me know what y'all think.

At The Hive Some Stingers for everybody

[Thanks much to sd3 for the weekend news roundup. Regular Hornets on the Internets and other such service should resume tomorrow. - Rohan]

Since we have not had any new news related links on the hornets, I decided to look some up.  I was also trying to find info on if the hornets were having pre-draft workouts or not.  Follow the jump to the Stingers(a lil corny but it sounded good to me).

Canis Hoopus Trade idea "Revised"

Would you be willing to make this this trade.  I feel like it is pretty fair on your part and helps fill some holes on your team.  What do you guys think?  The trade is a three way deal between the hornets, sixers, and twolves.  You don't have to trade away your picks and you get a some scoring from you bench and a veteran pg.  You guys get JJack and Lou williams Speights and QPon and you give up Tolliver, Flynn, and Randolph Webster.  So what do you all think?

At The Hive Got a trade idea

Andre-iguodala_mediumEmeka-okafor-hornets-jacket1_medium

via i.cdn.turner.com

So this trade is a three team trade that I think would help each team.  Here's the link.  The trade involves the hornets, sixers, and wizards.

Hornets receive Iggy and Mcgee.  They would do this because the hornets still need that number two player to go with CP3, who is also a sg which is a position of need for them.  Mcgee gives them a defensive minded center who is young and cheap, and who is someone that can fly and be the next cp3 chandler connection.

Sixers receive Emeka Okafor and Jordan Crawford.  This gives the Sixers that much needed defensive minded center who can rebound and score a little.  He also scores on the inside which is a good compliment to brand who scores from the inside and out but more from outside the paint.  It also gives the sixers a young sg who can score and play defense to grab a couple of the minutes that iggy leaving will open up.

The Wizards get Speights and Quincy.  They get a power forward/ center that can score from outside the paint and gets more minutes he can also play with wall since he has decent hands.  It also gives the wiz a SG/SF who is young and can score.  By taking Speights and Quincy they have a young core core to grow with wall, and maybe Speight will finally bloom.

What do you all think?

changed out washington for minny
hornets give up quincy emeka and jack but get a young point in jonny flynn, iggy, and anthony randolph who has the potential to be a great high flyer and if monty can get him to play D he will be great.  While we do take a little back contract wise we still have the space to add another big or two.

Minny gives up randolph, toliver, and jonny flynn and get j jack who can be their starting point guard that they have needed and lou williams who can give them some points off the bench.  It seems to me that they have given up on flynn anyway, toliver is just a bench player at best, and randolph plays the same position as beasley and love.

Sixers give up Lou williams who all sixers fans hate and iggy.  They would do this cuz they get the defensive big they want, a young QPon to take some of the minutes,  save money this year and next year when toviller's contract comes off the books, not to mention like I said before sixers fans hate Lou.

Liberty Ballers Got another trade idea Revised

So this trade is a three team trade that I think would help each team.  Here's the link the .  The trade involves the hornets, sixers, and wizards.

The only bad thing that I see from the Sixers stand point is that Emeka's contract is 4 years meaning it ends after brand's, but do we really think we will be able to lore an all star to sign here?  Maybe but I am not so sure.  What do you all think?

If that doesn't work here here is a revised trade.  I switched out the wiz for minny.
Hornets give up quincy emeka and jack but get a young point in jonny flynn SF in webster and iggy. They save a little but it is not much, they still have the space to add another big or two.

Minny gives up randolph, toliver, webster and jonny flynn and get j jack who can be their starting point guard that they have needed and lou williams QPon and Speights who can give them some points off the bench, since they diidn't have any production from their bench this year.  It seems to me that they have given up on flynn anyway and martell is replaceable with wes and beasley.

Sixers give up Lou williams Speights who all many sixers fans hate believe is lazy and iggy and get Emeka, QPon, and Tolliver and Jonny Flynn.  They would do this cuz they get the defensive big they want, a young Flynn.  They add a little salary in about 300,000 dollars but get a young player who can be a great back up to jrue and may make a nice 3 guard rotation.

The changes to this trade were made after I showed the trade to the Minny blog and got their responses they are definitely willing to do this second trade as is the hornets fans.

What do you think?

At The Hive What would you do, become the GM

Dell-demps-300x180_medium

via www.mymontage.net

Today I am writing to find out what some of you think the hornets should do this off season.  You are the hornets GM and you have the salary that they hornets have which is roughly 42.1 mil locked up in 5 players.

They are

CP3 at 16.4 mil

Emeka 12.5 mil

Ariza 6.8 mil

JJack 5.2 mil

QPon 1.2 mil

You also are basing this on the idea that the new CBA is similar to the old one so the cap is about 58.5 mil and the tax line is around 70.5 mil.

How would you make this team better?  Who should they go after?  What kind of contracts would you be looking to give?  Are there any trades that you might try to make.  Who will you try to resign and who will you give a qualifying offer to?

A list of the free agents is here and here is the salary for the Hornets.

I will put my moves in the comments as well.

Good luck!

Liberty Ballers What if?

Now I know many of you do not like Samuel Dalembert but this is completely off the wall scenario.  What if we were able to sign Sammy this off season to a deal that is less than the deal that he is on.  Would you want the Sixers to do it?  I personally think he would be good in the coach Collins system both defensive and offensive.  I'd like to hear from everyone, just to get your input.

At The Hive What is happening with our team offense and defense

This is new for me so here it goes.  I was looking at stats about the hornets, and I found something interesting that has been happening with our defense over the last couple games.  It is interesting since I was actually looking to find out how many fast break points our team gets per game. We are near the bottom in fast-break points. More after the jump.

At The Hive Brackins trade from a hornets and sixers fan prospective

I think for the sixers they got off with the better value even though they did not need it.  They got a young pf/f with a lot of potential but they did not need it.  The hornets did get one good player in this trade and as most of you can see by now it is jason smith.  He is a player with a great motor that was underappreciated and underutilized in philly.  He can make the 15 foot jumper and plays decent defense.  You will enjoy him off the bench but do not expect a center because he is a better pf.  The one bad part of the trade for the hornets was the getting willie.  He is one of my least favorite players.  He does not play defense, only thinks about shooting, and does not get other players involved.  Not to mention he is a streaky shooter.  I am glad that the hornets will let smith play though he has better potential than brackins because of his engine.

At The Hive Are we overreacting?

Ok so I know and understand how every hornets fan is feeling.  We can't lose the heart of our team, after all with Paul gone we would be left with DW, lil buckets, and DC.  But for some reason I do not believe the hornets would trade paul, at least not this year.  So far the only thing we have heard from Paul is that he is a Hornet but would wants to win, and if the hornets don't show some initiative, then he would be open to a trade.  I definitely understand that, because he has a drive to be a champion and I think that is something we missed with his absence last year.  One of the main reasons why we  will not trade CP3 is because the main reason we lost bower was because he wanted to listen to offers for Paul.  That should tell all of us something about how the owner(s) are thinking.  I think we need to relax until after the meeting between paul and monty/demps.  If not we may end up having a heart attack for all the stress of thinking about losing paul.  Agree, or disagree?  Comments more than welcome.
