Native San Diegan, die hard Padres fan, huge nerd. Uhhh, think that covers it.
Given the plague of injuries that Padres pitching has suffered, I thought this might be an interesting read for any of us wondering why this keeps happening.
I kind of had a gut feeling something like this would happen, the Friars taking a flyer on someone like Vasquez or Garcia. Maybe the Padres can pay him in sweet, stinky weed.
Cue the "Price is Wrong" theme
The hot stove is an exciting time in baseball, where anything can happen! Of course, you know, if you're a Padre fan and the majority of your free agent signings are bench players,...
So it looks like the Padres have decided to re-sign Jason Marquis to a $3M contract. Despite the cynical tone of the title, I'm fairly ambivalent about the announcement. Last year was a bad year...
Tyson Ross and another dude are on their way to San Diego. Andy & Andrew are on their way out.
As you've probably read/heard/seen/sensed, Mat Latos had strong words for his ex-teammates. Basically, he wanted to reiterate that he is in the playoffs while they weren't, and that they could...
Why can't more umpires be like him? He owns up to his mistakes, and he saves people's lives.
Nepotism in action, or is this A New Hope?
I know there are some anti-Jake people on this blog, but this is a pretty cool story about him. I remember reading how happy Peavy was to work with both Balsley and Akerfelds, and I'm glad to see that he kept that friendship despite switching teams. It's also nice to read something about a former Padre that doesn't involve "Matt F-cking Bush!!!"
The plot thickens... Who is the Dark Knight, who is the White Knight? Which is the hero we need? Which is the one we deserve? Or is one Bane? OH NO!!!
This man deserves an award for asshattery.
"He's someone who will come up to me and not beat around the bush -- but actually go into the bush." --Yonder Alonso on his love of Mark Kotsay
He is back and his NAME. IS. WIIIILLLLIIIIAAAM!!!! (William Dion Venable rocks your face off!)
He's now rockin' a Tin Cap for Fort Wayne. Not the best of debuts, but he managed a walk. Also, Rymer Liriano is really showing why he's a legitimate prospect. He is fast, hits for power, and gets on base. I'm wondering if a promotion is in his near future...
Also, Spanky is getting high praise for being awesome.
Set your DVRs, folks, 'cause this is going to be hilarious...
He's BAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK.
He's not Will Venable, Cameron Maybin, or Kyle Blanks, or even a Padre, but props to Dan on his kickass game. Based on his celebratory gestures, perhaps he should be called "Shooter McGavin"...
Shamefully shoplifting shirts
It's going to be a looooooooooooooooooooong day until the Padres play the Hurr-Durrs tonight. I figured I'd toss a post up to talk about the goings on inside and outside the baseball games. For...
A career profile by John Sickels
Another Fuson guy bites the dust...
Since the Padres are enjoying a well-earned day off (don't eat the Panda Express, Cameron, and don't eat the St. Louis Crabs, Heath), I figured I'd toss a post up for anyone who wants to talk...
