Oh, look. Kentucky fans got their feelwins hurt.
It's all a part of the anti-UK conspiracy, apparently.
Sometimes it seems like a lot of UK fans are bigger fans of themselves than of the team. All of the ones I've talked to are more interested in telling me about the "Blue Mist" than their starting lineup.
Cuonzo Martin said he couldn't help but notice the scores of blue-clad Kentucky fans in Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday.
"Yeah, it concerns you,'' Tennessee's men's basketball coach, who had a handful of Kentucky fans sitting behind his team's bench, said Monday at media day. "We see 21,000 there, but we'd like to see the 21,000-plus in orange, especially when you say you're going up against a rival.''
The Vols' 65-62 loss to the No. 2-ranked Wildcats represented UT's first sellout crowd of the season, with 21,678 packed into the arena.
"If the upper bowl is not packed (with orange), it's one thing,'' Martin said. "But you have the lower bowl ...
"There was not a lot of red in that lower bowl when Indiana came to the gym at Purdue.''
Martin played at Purdue 1991-95 and coached there as an assistant 2000-08.
Transcript of Coach Martin's press briefing (12/12/11)
I like everything he is saying; I also think he is the type of guy who can get these guys to buy into it.
Awwwww.... isn't this cute?
Since it looks like there's not going to be a season for the NBA this year, it sure would've been nice to have this guy around for another year.

Maybe the Phillie fans are getting just a bit carried away with the success of their team?
The summerization:
"Simply put, the expectation for a top-tier football team is wholly different than in baseball -- the expectation is that the team will win all games. When the top-tier football team loses, something went wrong. In baseball, when the team loses, that's just a fact of life.
But what I've perceived over the past month for the Phillies is a complete change in perception. We fans, and to some extent the team, have morphed our perception of the team into that of a top-tier football team. When the Phillies lose, it's a shock. Charlie Manuel is second-guessed. The roster is re-analyzed. The world's alignment just seems off.
The expectation we have now is not simply that the team is going to win a really high percentage of its games. The expectation now is that the team is going to win every game.
That's just not possible in baseball. But, given how amazing this team is playing this year and particularly right now, that's where we find ourselves.
In other words, this franchise and this team have completely altered the basic principles of this sport and being a fan of a team in this sport."
Who is the best-looking?
A humorous and very scientific look at which position on the field has the best looking guys (using this year's All-Stars).
So, do you want Placido Polanco to be the All-Star 3rd Baseman?
If not, get busy voting for your Braves for All-Star. Also, even though Posey is out, he's leading in votes for catcher. This must change.

Repeat posting of great article about Sea Bass
I know this was linked here last year, but we have a lot of new readers. This story reinforces my belief that you should always realize that everyone has a lot going on in their life, and if given the choice, be kind.
Looks like Hamels has this pitching thing all figured out...
"However, according to Hamels, the difference was when Gonzalez and Freeman hit homers.
'What hurt today was the homers," Hamels astutely pointed out. "If they were doubles or base hits, I don't think as many guys would've scored.' "
Need ticket/seating advice
I'm going to be in Cincinnati for the game against the Braves on Sunday, July 24, and I want to go ahead and purchase tickets. I've never been to GABP, and was wondering if there are any seats which are in the shade. Shaded for the entire game would be great, but info on any areas that are in the shade at least part of the game would be much appreciated.
How are the "View Level Box Seats"?
I looked over the posts with information for visitors, but didn't see anything specific about certain sections / shade / etc. Any info about what you think are "good" seats will be very helpful -- also info about where you buy your tickets.
I'm really looking forward to my visit; your park looks beautiful on TV!
Awesome story about special Braves fans in Boston
This really makes me wish I could go to a Braves vs Sox game in Fenway and meet these fans.
Any schools out there looking to boost their Fulmer Cup potential?
These could be the recruits for you!
I need some input, guys!
I'm able to take part in a "Final Four" contest with a relatively small number of contestants. The winner gets an iPad.
Here are the rules:
On or about 04/04/2011, the Sponsor will determine a single winner by the following criteria
- 1. Record in three game pick-off
- 2. Total points scored in NCAA Championship game without regard to being over or under the final number of points.
- 3. After items 1 & 2, if a tie remains, XXXXX will conduct a random drawing of those participants who tied for first place.
Will you tell me who you would pick in the three games and total points? I would like to make use of the wisdom of many.
THANKS!

I don't think this is Scotty, either!
Go Vote For Scotty!
Poster boy!
Somebody at MLB Network is on crack.
MLB Network has been unveiling, 20 at a time, their "Top 100 Players in Baseball Right Now". Keep in mind the words "right now". If you haven't seen any of it you might me interested in where some of our Braves rank, especially compared to other players. I don't have the list at my disposal right now, but I would just like some reactions to the rankings of 3 players:
Jason Heyward: #68
Brian McCann: #41
Buster Posey: #16
Discuss amongst yourselves......

It was previously only on CSS, I think. Wonder why ESPN wants another of our games? Some new time lines to showcase, perhaps?

Heartbreaking story..
As Gary says, if you pray, please pray for this little girl and her brother.
Coach Pearl lays down the law...
I think it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out in games.
"Another Crushing Screen"....
I have to say, this was awesome. I loved the UConn crowd reaction. They do realize that's not a foul, don't they?
Another possible NCAA violation?
I'm sorry, I just think this is ridiculous. Give me a break.
