0-2, 2 on, 2 out pitch to Matt Kemp last night...

I don't want to fault a pitcher-catcher duo for calling for a high out of the zone fastball to strike a batter out, but really? Matt Kemp? Jair had been missing high all night, continuing to do so afterward (see the 10 hits), and Matt Kemp is one of the best fastball hitters in baseball. Trying to sneak a fastball by him when you have and 0-2 count, in a scoreless game, where if you miss at all the entire complexion of the game changes (as it did) is ridiculous.  What reasoning do Bobby or Mac have for calling that pitch, and how is it justifiable? Thoughts appreciated.

Tarvaris v. Brett, the #'s don't lie

Favre:

Last 4 Games 4   53.3 75 132 56.8 764 191.0 5.8 2 8

Jackson:

Last 4 Games 4   115.4 57 89 64.0 740 185.0 8.3 8 1

I'll casually break that down into something readable:

QB Rating: 115.4 to 53.3

Completion %: 56.8 to 64.0

TD to INT Ratio: 1/4 to 8/1

All in favor of a young Tarvaris Jackson...say "I"?

Quarterbacks, especially very young and very old, are usually judged going into the next season on the way they handle themselves at the end of the previous regular season.

Those last 4 games of the regular season, Tarvaris was nearly flawless in his execution. Everyone has been calling the TJACK "experiment" a failure, solely because he was eaten alive by a ravenous eagles defense that did worse to Tony Romo the week before. Not neglecting the fact that he was overmatched, our coaches hung Tarvaris out to dry in the second half of that eagles game with no huddle fly routes that had him looking like a high schooler, creating this wonderful amnesia affect that has some "Vikings" fans clamoring for a quarterback that will retire (at some point) WITH THE PACKERS. I should be able to argue this on ethics alone!!!

The idea that it would be wonderful to beat the Packers with their own guy is ludacris.  Yea, that's fine when its Ryan Longwell, but Favre is the face of that franchise, and is selfish enough to want to play for a rival to the franchise he plans to retire with.  That fact doesn't even begin to address how selfish the guy is.  But I guess a pair of Wranglers means he's just a regular guy who likes to toss the ball around with the guys.

My head is clouded with fury, so i'll stop.  Just refer to the beginning. Thanks. Good/sad day to all of us.

Tampering with Favre?

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8351554/Sources:-Packers-say-Vikings-tampered-with-Favre

"In the latest twist, the Packers have filed tampering charges with the league office against the Minnesota Vikings for alleged communication with Favre, still technically a member of Green Bay, FOXSports.com has learned. The league, according to a source, is currently in information-gathering mode, speaking to members of both teams."

This is a bit troubling...What are you thoughts?

Shaun Livingston?

It looks like the Clippers just lost Brand, haha suckers.  And now they have Baron at the point with Brevin Knight as his backup.

That said, do you think they'll still give up on Shaun Livingston?  To retain him they'd have to pay around 5 mil i think for the season, and I hear that they'd rather cut him loose because theyre wary about paying him so much if he can't contribute right away.

If they don't, I really think that the suns should go hard for this kid, really get in the mix to give him a one year minimum deal to prove himself again.  It would be a move with huge upside potential, and put the Suns in a position to fill a drastic need with a play-making pg.

This is obviously a hypothetical in terms of feasibility at the moment, but he passed his recent physical and has been cleared to play, and i'm really excited about this guy.  What do you think?  Any other ideas for a backup pg?  I'm really not happy about this tyronne lue idea - being shaq's friend doesn't make you good at your job.

Let's dooo it!

Eric Frampton

We picked him up off waivers from the Lions last year, and he was an EXCELLENT special teams player for the second half of the season (if anyone was paying attention).  But with the addition of Boulware, Tyrell, and even Sapp, we're probably not going to be able to keep him on board.

R.I.P. to the third member of the special teams triumvirate

Farwell, Ciurciu, and.... ?

Who will we call upon to replace this man's selective brilliance?...!!

Barbosa and the philosophy change...

If we keep him, which looks fairly likely at this point, how do you think he's going to respond to the regime change?

A lot was made of his nurturing relationship with Dan Dantoni over the season last year (I think he's been coddled too much, but that's up for debate i guess).  What will be the effect of his mentor's departure?

It's always been love/hate for me with him, but i can't pick a side - should we be optimistic or pessimistic about him this year

Can we call the hawks and sign and trade for Childress with an Acie Law toss in? Or at least call them back about Joe...we may be needing him around Christmas time.
