The Padres have agreed to terms with first-round pick Allan Dykstra for about $1.4 million. But the first baseman from Rancho Bernardo High and Wake Forest may not be the most expensive amateur the Padres sign this year. The club is deep into talks for foreign talent by the signing date, July 2. For a handful of teenagers abroad, the Padres are prepared to spend close to their draft budget.

Drama is on Chase Headley Strike so I told him I'd help him out even though I hate this HTML editor, it always gives me trouble.

Iguchi will be out for 4-6 weeks so Egone and Stansberry will split time at 2B.

Minor League Report

Portland lost to Sacremento 9-2. Brooks Conrad doubled, drew two walks and scored three runs. The Beavers scored a run in the fifth when Will Venable reached on a one-out double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Nick Hundley’s groundout. Chase Headley smashed an RBI double in the ninth.

The Missions shutout Frisco 2-0. Steve Garrison of the Linebrink trade pitched 5 scoreless. Mike Baxter had both RBIs with a triple.

The Storm beat High Desert 5-4. Take that Phantom! Catcher Mitch Canham had 3 RBIs and Cedric Hunter went 2-4.

Fort Wayne won 11-5. Some guy name Justin Baum went 4-5 with 2 HRs and 7 RBIs while playing 3B.
