Blogging The Boys Sources: McNabb headed to Washington

ESPN reports that McNabb is on his was to Washington.

The two sides still must finalize language, but McNabb is now headed to Washington. Sources said the deal involved the Redskins' second-round pick in the 2010 draft and either a third- or fourth-round pick next year, depending on several factors.

Pesonally I think it is the best of both worlds. Kolb is the starter in Philly and McNabb, who I think has his best days behind him, now plays behind an even worse O-line.

Thoughts?

Blogging The Boys The Maturation of Jason Garrett

There has been a lot of talk recently about Jason Garrett and his vastly improved play-calling. While watching the game Saturday night I noticed a play that I felt obliged to bring up that I feel highlights the value of the red headed genius. (I paused the game and forced my wife to re-watch the play and explained the brilliance to her, she was not as impressed as I was, so I figured I'd try my luck with you guys).

This is the play line from NFL.com

3-8-DAL 47 (15:00) (Shotgun) 9-T.Romo pass short middle to 19-M.Austin to PHI 41 for 12 yards (21-J.Hanson). Pass complete on a slant.

Here is the youtube video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAVybgDGXi0  Now this isn't the greatest because it doesn't show everything leading up to the snap, but you can catch the end of what I am talking about. It is the first play of the high-light at the 00:14 mark.

At the start of the video you can see Crayton talking his place at the top of your screen and Sheldon Brown lining up on him. The Cowboys come out of the huddle with Crayton in the backfield Austin in the slot being covered by Sheldon Brown and Joselio Hanson inside of Brown with responsibility for Crayton. As the Romo starts barking signals Crayton motions out wide and this is where the play is made. Brown moves out wide to take Crayton and Hanson slides over to take Austin. Dallas just went from having the Eagles' best corner (IMO) on our best receiver to having their 3rd corner on Austin. Austin makes a quick move outside, then back up the field and Romo hits him down the seam for 12 yards on 3 & 8.

The play was designed perfectly by Garrett and Romo and Austin executed it to perfection, this was one of the many 3rd down conversations that aided Dallas in winning this ball game. If Garrett can continue to draw up plays that match our strength against the defenses weakness we will go a very long way this post season.

Daily Norseman Hawgz, Bugz, and FilthyFowl Hater

Please ignore any comments made by this guy, who is perpetrating as a Cowboys fan. He does nothing but try to stir up dumb arguments with the most idiotic comments that have basis in actual thought or reason. I think the Cowboys will win this weekend, but it has nothing to do with "Fear the Star" or any other of his crap. I am sure many of you have already come across this guy and know what I am talking about, but you will do good for your sanity to ignore any and all of his comments.

This is not a representation of Blogging the Boys, so if you wish to engage in some great football discussions about my team, feel free to visit us at BTB, but the guy is an idiot.

Blogging The Boys BTB Observations

I have been noticing a trend on our beloved blog over the last two weeks. Everyone who reads this web-site knows that there are some posters who are a part of every conversation, every topic, and quite frankly are (almost) as important to this blog as the writers, who by the way are the best around. I post some, not as often as a lot of those guys, but what I have noticed is an influx of new posters over the last two weeks and what they have had to say has been overwhelmingly negative. People who want to fire Wade, cut Romo, get ride of Garrett, be-head Jerry (maybe an exaggeration, but you get the point). Now there have been many people who have been around for a long time and post constantly who also have these feelings, but the inundation of new posters with these feelings has been overwhelming.

My point in bringing this up is that it is very easy for a fan to be critical and demand all sorts of change and claim that Romo sucks, and Wade is a bum, and Jerry is an idiot, because you are putting yourself in a win-win situation. If the team suffers because of the individuals that you call out then you were right all along and the team should be listening to you, someone sign that guy up. If on the other hand the teams wins with these players, well you are a fan of the team and all you really want in the end is a W anyway, so we are good to go.

I think that the positive and glass half-full posters on this site are getting a bad rap, labeled as homers and there is starting to be a significant lean towards the negative, chicken little posts. Let's not all take the easy way out and say that the team stinks and should can everyone, because I am sure each and everyone of you would be right there cheering the team along when (if for you guys) the team makes their run in the playoffs.

Let's Go Cowboys!!!

and Romo and Wade and Garrett and Jerry and apparently Crayton sucks now (or so says Chicken Little), so let's go Crayton

Blogging The Boys Maybe Camp Cupcake isn't so bad afterall...

I just read on ESPN.com that Stewart Bradely, one of Philadelphia's starting linebackers will miss the whole season with a torn ACL. My first reaction was that this is a big blow for the Eagles and a tough break. Then I read on further to see that is appears as if he was injured in a pile up at practice.

This lead me to think about all the ridicule the Cowboys have taken over not tackling in TC because Wade wants to protect his players, and now it appears as if one of our rival's starters has been lost for the year because of training camp tackling.

I never really had that big of a problem with the no tackling, but for those of you who did, does this change your mind? Would you rather have us not tackle or risk losing Demarcus Ware for the year in a training camp pile-up?

Just some food for thought.

Bradely out for year

I just wanted to clarify that I do not buy into the "Camp Cupcake" idea, it was the best way I could think to broach the subject.

I came across this while on Bleeding Green Nation earlier today. I know the ads are random, but this one is perfect for those miserable Iggles fans. They probably need it.

Blogging The Boys Classic Eli face

So I was on "the network which will remain unnamed" (for those of you who are boycotting) and watched a tape of the game review. It had this great picture of the classic Eli face in it, I mean priceless so I got a screenshot of it for everyone to take a look at. Normally you get to see this after the play is over, but this is even better, in the grasp of Demarcus Ware. I hope you all enjoy it.

Blogging The Boys I need this win!

I need this win in week 11!!! I know that the Dallas Cowboys need it, for their season, for their confidence, to have a chance of making it to the playoffs they need this win. I get all of that, but my point is that I, personally, need this win!

I know that most everyone one this blog lives in enemy territory, and knows how tough it can be. I live in Redskins country though, and let me tell you, with them having a good year and beat us at out place it is especially tough. Giants fans know it will be tougher the next time they play us, we put on an offensive clinic against the Eagles, but we lost, at home, to the Redskins and that is hard to deal with here.

But it is not just the fans. I listen to sports talk radio all the time, I can't even remember if my car has FM or not. The problem is that as bad as ESPN is, it is all I get except Redskins Radio. So I grin and bear it a lot, listen to the love-hate fest that network has with us until about 3 pm when the worst local sports talk guy in the country comes on. He is horrible (not even a Skins fan, a Rams fan) I have not met anyone who likes to listen to this guy, but yet he has been on the air for over 15 years. So to stop this insanity I tune into the Redskins talk show to entertain myself.

They have in the past done a pretty decent job of being fair and unbiased in recent years. I guess that was only because the Redskins were just barely above a bottom rung team, even on playoff years for them they just squeaked in so it was too bad to listen to, But now, now that they think they are Gods of the NFL I can't do it anymore, I can listen to them talk about how great they are (barely, but I can tolerate that because they are playing decent) but what I can't stand is that the only other thing that do is bash the Boys! Even when we aren't part of their conversation they come up with a way to bash us, be it a TO blowing up the team comment, or Pacman is a thug, or Tank is a thug, or Jerry is the coach of the team.

The reason I decided to rant about this is because of what I heard today. They were talking calls about any Skins topic and someone called in who was at the Monday night game and was horrified about the number of Steelers fans who were at the game, it almost seemed like the games was being played at Hines Field. After ranting about it for a second the host makes the comment that he can already feel the same thing happening for our games, that these IDIOTS (in reference to Cowboys fans--which I assume he knows all of us and our intelligence levels) will be there in full force. His co-host then went on to bash Cowboys fans saying we wouldn't even take a bus fare to an away game, let alone a flight up to FedEx and that we were the most fair-weathered fans in football. I probably missed the next 5 minutes of talk because I was screaming at my radio and telling John Thompson, the host, exactly what I thought of him and his opinions.

Bottom line, is that I hear nothing from Redskins radio and fans about how we are 1-2 in the last three because the team in falling apart, or is blowing up (not that we are decimated by injuries), or imploding and that they can count us out and our season is over that I need this win. To show my face to work on Tuesday (I will be making the 4 hour drive to the game Sunday night and taking Monday to bask in the glory of victory) I need the Dallas Cowboys to step up and win. Now I have not been talking trash to anyone, I have been quiet and just responded to heckling, we'll find out in a couple weeks when we get healthy--just make sure I can find you at the end of the season ok? So I need this win, I am sure they are more of me out there in Redskin country who feel the same way as me, but I NEED THIS WIN!!!!

Blogging The Boys T-New

Just saw an article from the Dallas Morning News where it looks like Terence Newman is close to signing a contract extension. I know there has been a lot of talk about this, and whether he would demand too much from us or if we could a hometown discount. It looks as though he wants to stay here and get a deal done soon. All I can say is good for Jerry and Steven! This is huge in my estimation, we need to lock this guy up because I am in the camp that believes he is a top 5 corner in this league.

Now just waiting to hear more about the two no-shows at OTAs. We need to the Barbarian re-signed along with Hamlin. I just hope we aren't overlooking these guys while they are working on T-News deal. That could breed some bad blood.

Blogging The Boys Adam Jones

I know it has been mentioned before, but I would like to put out a formal petition here on Blogging the Boys that we refer to our newly acquired cornerback with a troubled past only as Adam Jones and leave the nickname, that he was formerly known, by back in Tennessee.

I think the new start in a new place should come along with forgetting about that stupid nickname that he used when got in so much trouble. A new start for #21 for the Dallas Cowboys, Adam Jones.

Poll
What do you think about forever forgetting "Pacman" and only recognizing Adam Jones on BTB?
I like it, Pacman was left in Tennesse, it's Adam now.

That is stupid, he will always be Pacman Jones

You can call him Xena Warrior Princess for all I care, as long as he stays out of trouble and preforms well in Big D

Blogging The Boys NFL Owners Meeting

I just saw on the Bottom Line on ESPN that the Owners are discussing changing playoff seeding for the upcoming season. The change would be that when a Wildcard team has a better record than a division winner, that team will get to play a home game. Perfect example this year would have been the Giants (10-6) playing at the Bucs (9-7) this year.

Blogging The Boys Farve to Retire

Its a sad day for football. This is a surprise to me after the kind of year he had this past season. Football will miss greatly, as in my opinon was one of the all-time greats.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that according to Favre's agent, Buss Cook, Favre informed Packers coach Mike McCarthy of his decision Monday night.

Blogging The Boys Scheme

This time of year, as it has been referred to as the "silly season" is all about players. We are concentrating on free agency and the draft has consumed us all. So I wanted to start this diary about scheme. What sort of things do you look for the Cowboys to do more of next year, with the players we currently have. No talking about draft picks or free agents, only what do you want to see more or less of this upcoming season.

Blogging The Boys Asante Samuel

Looks like the Eagles have signed the former New England Cheatriot. The article says 6 years, i heard it was supposed to be around 60 million, quite a big price tag for the man that could have won the Superbowl and choked.

They also are now supposedly shopping either Lito Shepard or Sheldon Brown, both of whom I wouldn't mind playing with a star on their helmet. I think the Iggles will probably as too much for our liking though.

Blogging The Boys Skip Bayless

Holy Crap I think the universe as we know it just came to an end. I am watching 1st and 10 and Skip Bayless not only picked the Cowboys, after admitting that he was trying to find a way to pick the Giants. But then he proceeded to admit that the TO-Primetime interview that TO sounded very confident and not overly cocky, but was truly ready to go and was going to toast the Giants secondary. He actually said "Get your popcorn ready"

I think the world as we know it is ending, things just turned upside down and I am not sure that I like Skip Clueless picking us to win....

Blogging The Boys MBIII

Living in Redskins country can be quite trying at times. I end up listening to Redskins Radio, owned and operated by Mr. Daniel Synder, and thinking about how bad they analyze the team and the league. Today I heard something that got me really jacked up and excited about our show down. I know it is many weeks off, and it is looking really far ahead, but I couldn't help but be giddy over it. Clinton Portis was talking about how great their defense is, and how hard Sean Taylor and the rest of the team hit people. And I had the crazy thought, the hair raising exciting thought of MBIII lowering his head and running Sean Taylor right over. I can't wait!!! I can just see it now, imagine the Archuleta hit, but better and MBIII goes right over him and romps in for a touchdown.

I know we have several big games before that point, most notably the Patriots next week, and I hate to look ahead in the schedule. But this just got me excited. Maybe we will see a preview next week when he runs the steroid user over! I love how hard this kid runs!!!!

Blogging The Boys Top 25 Receivers Today

I just saw this list on SI.com, and was somewhat surprised to see someone in the media give T.O. credit for his pro-bowl calliber season last year (although he is a former NFL receiver himself). What was more surprising was the absence of Terry Glenn. I believe there at very least 10 receivers on that list that I would take Glenn over in a heart beat. For example Calvin Johnson, no offense Grizz, hasn't even played a down in pre-season let alone an actual game and although I think he will turn out to be one of the all-time greats, no way does he belong on that list just yet. I think he belongs no lower than 18 on this list and there are a few higher up that I do not think belong there, like Plaxico or Lee Evans. Definately a top 20 IMO.

Blogging The Boys Reuben Droughns to Giants

According to ESPN the New York Giants acquire RB Reuben Droughns through a trade with the Cleveland Browns for WR Tim Carter.

This is an intresting move to replace Tiki Barber considering Droughns is a very similar back to Brandon Jacobs and flamed out this past year in Cleveland.
