CelticsBlog New York vs. Boston: Rivalry Thread

Both sides are welcome here. P&T and The Celtics Blog can both discuss our rivalry with each others cities. It can be a cool way to see each others perspectives in our rivalries between each others cities'. The Yankees vs. Red Sox. The Giants/Jets vs. Patriots, Rangers vs. Bruins, and Knicks vs. Celtics!

We can all share our greatest memories between the two rivalries. Maybe some of you remember the early 90's for the Knicks and most of Boston remembers yesterday. :/ The good and bad is up for discussion.

Also of you participate lets not get into a fight. This is meant for fun.

Posting and Toasting Jeff Fan Gundy

Jeff Fan Van Gundy. The movement seems to have been brewing oh i dont know.. for about the time the knicks have been 3-7 smh.  Very pre mature.. im talkin short looks at you and you bust one off mature. But at the least, I entertained the idea for a minute and saw this and this. Now I didnt go and jump ship just yet..b/c I for a long time have been a supporter of Da chips mon. But recently da chips have been badgerd (badger the chips? sounds like a scary thing girls do to scrotes)

And I've been fighting the urge to whip my tv's ass after a knicks timeout.  But yea, i stay sane, and try to give him MORE TIME. At the beginning of the season it was supposed to be the START of his tenure. I gave him a pass for 2 years b/c of the shit that was on the roster. But it seems that those 2 years have somehow started to mold up some of the chips from da chips mon..and his real package has become the some of what he's been around for the past seasons.  Living and dying off the 3, and thats it. No variations of it.  How can you really expect to consistently win that way w/o making adjustments to what other teams are doing to us.   Anyways tho.. i got one quick question that I can answer easily..but have yet to make a decision to officialy answer.

things i noticed:

Pat is funny..and him and landry fields of dreams are probably the closest of friends on the team

Stat is by far the clear number 1 leader..everything got quiet when he was on the camera.

Gallo sings more than we know...lol

bookie can walk

and this team is really a ..."team" at least off the court already.

take a look... kudos to TKB

Posting and Toasting what the hell is this

we might as well just strap house arrest ankelts on these guys to see if there pulse rises too high when they get upset at a call.  Technical fouls are now: (via real gm)

When players *demonstratively throw their hands in the air or demonstrate how he was fouled by hitting his own arm*, a technical will be issued.

*Even if a player excessively asks about a call in a civilized*, referees are instructed to issue a technical foul.

this is some bull shit forreal. I mean..im all for trying to control the players from whining like babies..but making everyone play like wilson chandler is not the way to go. Next up the leage is gonna T up guys for demonstratively throwing their hands in the air in excitement after a huge play

Posting and Toasting Raymond Felton Radio inteview

Some good stuff from Myles at TKB.

Things that i liked when i listened to this 11 minute but very informative interview:

Expectations to be a leader, by example.

Amare's mentality to bring it everyday..starting the day he entered the training facility.

What he thinks about the Bashing of the team by the Media when we lose.

How defense is what wins games.

How Larry Brown effected his growth in Charlotte (some of us, including yours truly hit this on the head)

And touches base on bringing back some of tha Knicks tenacious grit that us knick fans havent seen in a long time.

Overall its a pretty good listen.  Im not upset I dedicated 11 minutes of my life to it.

Posting and Toasting How about some Raymond Felton

Ok pahtoasters.. Im not gonna wow you with fonts or formatting....nor give you smilies to google at.

Ive been seeing a hell of a lot about my Devin the dude listening partner Anthony Randolph. Which is ok with me. But I think a more important piece of this team should be analyzed, fanalized, and pokerized about. Raymond Felton. I know we've said this thru posts and small toasts, but we need a page to yap n tap about this guy some more.

Its fair to say that Gallo's progression,  Amare's ability to dominate, or AR's chance to explode..(or implode) the garden is vital to the success of this coming season. But in a true POP (Pringles) offense..the ball will be and mostly will go through the point in almost every occassion possible. Rayray(for now) has been through hell, literally.

The demon coach has put him thru some terrible offense.. but I think I am actually happy for that. Being there has shown him to be selective in his decisions..making sure to eliminate mistakes and take better shots. Last season was evidence of that, going from 2 seasons of 28% 3pt shooting to 38% last year.  But good shot taking is what he will generate on this knicks team. - with du du runnin the show.. other knicks for forced create their own shot every possesion..resulting in ill-advised shots. With ray ray at the point.. players will be open after kick-0outs and timely dishes from a pg that is capable of taking it to the rim or stoppin and poppin the mid range.

I had no idea this guy was aggresive as this youtube clip shows..maybe its the effect of "youtube" or maybe he really does bring it like this...any way you see it you cant convince me that he cant do this in a game.

I havent yet made an alias for him.. Im thinkin on Speedy Gonzalez..or just speedy, but i want to see him ball wit the knicks uni on before I make that decision.

And to keep yall intertained like the intern does.

"smiley art dunks on other smiley art in heat uniform" goes here

bring on the felton hype!!

I had to put this in the post....Props for WSD for this find:

Posting and Toasting incentives of espn press releason from lebron

ESPN might have exclusive rights to the biggest sports story in years, but they paid a hefty price - or won't be able to charge a hefty price.

LeBron's crew had some restrictions for ESPN as part of their arraingement.

  • First, ESPN does not know what the decision will be and won't know before hand.  The location also has not been released, but something tells me it will be in Bristol, CT where ESPN is located.
  • Secondly, ESPN is NOT allowed to sell advertising for the 1-hour Primetime event.  Instead, LeBron's marketing company - LRMR I suppose - can sell sponsorships with all proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Posting and Toasting Skip 2 NY

Aiight P&T... I had an epiphany just now at work. So in the mean time of not working at work, I will share it with you all...

Skip to my lou in NY?  What ever happened to that 34 yr old guy who led the nelson-less Orlando magic all the way to the NBA Finals?  Yea i know, hes been with the heat and nets respectively.. and hasnt really "skipped" his way to headlines like he did with that run in Orlando. But with a supposed stronger lineup (however it will be acheived) I think he would fit well here in the Garden.

He is obviously a pass first guard

He can run uptemp all game

Isnt that what we need? To add wouldnt he come cheap and also fill a veteran spot on the rost that could school the ever-so hard working Toney D on his game?  I mean, I want TD to be the future here, he showed a lot of promise last year as a late season minute clocker. And getting a pg who is experianced and compliments TD pretty well would be a good move in my eyes.. (and I has the 20/20)

Anyways.. whats your opinion with another weak pg FA class and draft among us?? I dont want Toney Parker, not saying he isnt good, but isnt worth making a splash for(trading players i want to keep-bully,chandler,currys contract, or Dlee)

There are other guys yea, felton, farmar ugh, ridnour,  and Master P.  But in the idea that TD young, talented, and is a piece that has the potential to be pretty daym good given the minutes over a season..I'd get him a vet to groom him and also be a pretty good starter in a system that is meant to run.

Comments?

Thanks for coming out, God bless you, Good night.

Posting and Toasting Interesting evaluation

I saw on the dream shake a post on evaluating Chuck Hayes' post defense. It provides an interesting compartison in post attemps, shot percentage, turnover ratio and so forth.. and the milkmans stats are not great at all. Actually, they are terrible.

From fansposts before i remember rob currensy saying lee needs to first get position so he isnt left with defending so deep into the paint. Well, the stats there show Lee has the number one amount of post defense attempts smh.. If we believe David lee can improve defensively, then Oakley(hopefully) has a hell of a job in front of him.

anyways..check out the link and lets talk about what you see

my bad, I forgot to add the link smh. here it is

Posting and Toasting If i were Donnie Walsh

ok..im writing this from my phone so if spacingand formatting is wrong...then oh well.

anyway, im watching this cleve boston game five and im wsatching the undervalued ray allen hit some clutch shots in this game.  i remember curren$y saying that he would go for ray allen this FA, and i am on that tune now too.  I know we all have our own ideal lineups, and with 30+ million to spend I'm gonna put my measly two centsout there for yall to shred.

my targets...hwsnbn'd / ray allen / and haywood.ii havent crunched #'s ,but those pickups would put us in the best position to win games, and make a postseason run. ohh, and keepp david lee.  like i said tho, i havent crunched numbeers and this idea probably wont work.  but it sounded good when i thought of it so i made a post.  and to add, if haywood is too exppensive..id be down with grabbing frye and keeping dlee.    but haywood is the only available big tht can play w/ howard.  we all seen what horford did against howard...yea, nothing at all.

Posting and Toasting Chis Paul question

Ok, ive recently heard some rumblings on CP. Nothing crazy.. just some rumors that NO has interest in the MilkMan.

Without doing any # crunching, I immediately thought of sending fatback with David Lee for Paul....right, not happening.(although they would be seaking financial relief)

So how about Dlee along with Chyll-Will? I know i know, the hornets have David west. But im not speculating on their interest right now.

With a sign and trade, maybe lee goes for a 11-12M deal.  - - ok just chk'd CP's salary, he makes 13+.  ChyllW makes like 2 something.. that would mean we break even on salaray swaps right? ....so assuming the only reason why CP is being shopped is for salary purposes, the deal for Chandler/Lee wouldnt make sense. Would that mean fatback would have to join?

David lee, chandler, and fat back for Chris paul?  what do yall think.

If this went down, it would basically put us all in for this years' FA class and eliminate 2011's (melo).

But with

CP/TD

??/bully Walker

Gallo//??

??/??

??/Red Barron

We would have the cap for two max guys and also be set at PG.  But then meeting the minimum roster count of 13(12?) would be impossible.  Unless we shoot for one max (nameless man). and shoot for Tryus at the PF and Camby or Haywood at C.

starting 5 of CP- HWSNBN- Gallo- TT- Camby would be viscious. And should work $ wise.

Of course..I am a knick fan, so slap me if im dreaming

Posting and Toasting 2010-11 League cap is set

Ok ok.. we just got a little bit more space to work with. Which COULD come in really handy when it comes to signing the extra guy who wants 1-2 million more or so.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5099980

To sum up the link, Stern just proposed that the cap is going to be 56.1M this year.

So after TD/Cock/Chyll-Will/Bully/and some useless back fat, we have approximately 40M to go and sign whomever (actually 39.525M)

So IF we do go for two max guys. Assuming 16 each. We would have about 7 Mill to round out the rest of the roster.

Sweet Chariot...

Although it isnt the same surgery as last season...its the same ankle. And the recovery should come early before training camp.. but i just smh at this b/c I was really interested in seeing Will next season coming off a entire summer of training, not rehabbing.

Making the fanpost limit with this sentence... welll.. ok, now i think its met the requirement.

Posting and Toasting Two scenarios for HWSNBN

Ok, my first attempt at a fan post.

Didnt know where else to put this so here it is.. watching NBA TV the other night I listened to the man from akron aka HWSNBN aka oldyoung man aka BK Mascot aka ....ok ok.. im starting to sound like Chris Rock off the Blackout album (red & meth yall).

Anyway, he was asked a few question by Kenny the Jet Smith. If the cavs win the title, why. And if the cavs lose in route, why. Winning it, he said something about desire and team play.. and he noted that his desire wouldnt end until he won it all.

Losing , he said would be because of trust. Being that there are new pieces to the team he said that players would have to trust in one another to play within as a team and have guys believe in there own skills.( I took that as not giving it to bron every play and standing back.)

But yea...back to the scenarious.  After listening to this a question lit up my bulb in the cranium. Would you see HWSNBN (although i mentioned him earlier) leaving the cavs if they had a very surprising early first round exit? or second round bust?  Or do you think he would be more prone to leaving if they won the champoinship?

If the cavs lost, I believe he would have to look elsewhere. The team players that he is high on right now are not young by any means(Shaq/jamison) and you have to assume that if he signs a lucrative contract 5-6 years..that seeing those guys age would not be a good selling point for him to consider.  Yes they have JJ Hickson and mo williams..but is that enough? Delonte west....meh.----on the other hand if the Cavs won it all, do you think he would feel more comfortable leaving his hometown behind with a championship to thank him for?

Whats your thoughts on this. And dont hit me with the "HWSNBN is not going to NY so stop waiting your time" all this is hypothetically speaking of course.
