Grew up in Alaska, living in Reno, attending University of Nevada grad school. I'm a big Diamondbacks, Mariners, St. Louis Rams, Oregon State Beavers, Nevada Wolf Pack and hockey (in general) fan.
Teams seems random, but I have my reasons.

Yet another guy giving out draft grades

Jason Cole from Yahoo! Sports dished out grades according to his opinion. Grade: A Analysis: "While there are medical concerns about Quinn, he was a great value at No. 14 overall and gives the Rams another speed rusher who should also help DE Chris Long(notes). The really sound moves came in the second, third and fourth rounds when the Rams got Kendricks, Pettis and Salas. This is what a team should do when it drafts a quarterback at No. 1 overall; get him support right away. All three of those players should help QB Sam Bradford(notes), who did a great job of making the most out of very little around him last season. In fact, the Rams were so mediocre last season that Kendricks, Pettis and Salas could easily end up on the field at least 60 percent of the time this season if they’re just OK." Note: If you go to the Atlanta Falcons' analysis, Cole says: "The selection of Rodgers in the fifth round could be one of the steals of the draft." Does everyone know how I feel about that trade? ....Ok, good!

Take a break from baseball, I just graduated college!!! That's my girlfriend and I, and some girl in the picture, just kidding. There's a new geologist on the block from the University of Alaska Anchorage, who will draft me?!

Your Madden '12 cover winner

Peyton Hillis!! He beat out Mike Vick to be on the cover of the next Madden NFL video game. And I mean, he smoked Vick: 66% to 34%

Mike Stutes, the 25th former Beaver in the majors.

"Former Oregon State pitcher Mike Stutes threw one scoreless inning in Philadelphia's 4-0 loss at Arizona on Monday night. The right-hander became the 25th former OSU player to play at the Major League Baseball level. Stutes was called up by the Phillies from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday when they placed Jose Contreras on the 15-day disabled list. He entered the game in relief for Cliff Lee in the eighth and struck out one in facing three batters. Prior to being selected by the Phillies, Stutes had appeared in seven games at the Triple-A level, accumulating a 2-1 record and 1.80 ERA with one save in 10 innings. He had 14 strikeouts." Earlier this year, Darwin Barney won a position with the Cubs, and is having a pretty good season. Stutes is a part of a great Phillies team, that has one of the best rotations in the history of the league (yet my DBacks beat them 2 straight games :-) ).

Bargain Backs in the Draft

Just saw this article posted on BuildingTheDam.com, a little something about my boy Quizz, "Jacquizz Rodgers – Oregon State Quizz Rodgers, like Lewis, is a pint sized back. He measures at 5’7″ and 191 pounds. There aren’t many opportunities for 5’7″ guys who run 4.64 40s. However, as previously mentioned it isn’t always about the measurables. Rodgers has been as productive as any back in the nation over the past three years having racked up over 3,800 yards and 46 touchdowns. He also had over 150 receptions and 1,000 yards receiving. And, he does have power for his 5’7″ frame. If given the chance, Jacquizz could possibly make an instant impact on special teams. I see him as a poor man’s Darren Sproles." His 40 time isn't his impressive aspect, and I'm pretty sure he has better game speed. Honestly, the slow 40-time was not a big surprise to any Beavers fan out there.

Funny OSN Story on the 49ers

"San Francisco's newly minted general manager, former scout Trent Baalke... said he would consider trading the seventh pick in the first round to any team who could offer him a set of beanbag chairs. "If we have to get an athlete, I'm thinking maybe a power forward. We don't have one of those right now." ....NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to deny the request, saying the last time he allowed San Francisco to use a draft pick for non-football player purposes they wasted them on Utah's Alex Smith."

Arizona State and Nike have designed a new logo, to update the old Sun Devil. Some writers think that the logo will be used by gangs. Either way, ASU has a new logo, I guess it's better than that happy Disney character-looking one. Oregon State updated their logo to the Angry Beaver and has used since 2001.

Beavers 2011 Football Season

I just took one of my finals; don’t have anything do today, might as well write my first BTD piece!  I’ve been dying to see/talk some football, and have football on my mind, one idea is to run...

Madden '12 Cover Finals

[Note by 3k, 4:30pm ET] What a pair. Andrew Sharp's take was on the money as usual for the mothership. The #3 seeded Michael Vick takes on the underdog #10 Peyton Hillis. Hillis beat-out Aaron Rodgers with 61% of the vote in the semi-finals, and Vick beat Adrian Peterson with 59% of the vote. So, who do you want to be cursed?

Fake TST mock draft #25 (damn you, JordansDad)

Since JordansDad decided to take Locker with the 15th pick to the Miami Dolphins (which I don't think will happen), my write-up is useless...unless I post it anyways, so I didn't waste time writing...

Quick Fantasy Baseball question

I have a quick question, just to see what your thoughts are. In a league I have Gordon Beckham and Kelly Johnson (both were keepers), I only have 1 closer (Axford), want another one. This guy...

OSU Makes the Worst "Championship" Games List

2008 Sun Bowl, OSU Beavers destroyed Pitt Panthers 3-0. THERE WERE 20 PUNTS IN THIS GAME. The teams were a combined 5-for-32 on fourth-down conversion attempts. Oregon State quarterback Lyle Moevao attempted 42 passes, ensuring the 60 minutes of game clock would eat up plenty of time on the civilian clock. OSU and Pitt managed 2.7 and 2.4 yards per carry, respectively. HOWEVER!!! It was not the lowest scoring Sun Bowl of all time, there was a 0–0 tie between Arizona State and The Catholic University of America on Jan. 1, 1940.

Beaver Nation -- Welcome Josh Williams

Head football coach Mike Riley announced late Tuesday that linebacker Josh Williams from Salesian High School in Los Angeles has been admitted to Oregon State University and will begin practicing Wednesday. Williams, a 6-0, 218-pound linebacker, had 110 tackles as a senior in 2009. He earned Los Angeles Wave Northeast Division First Team and helped the Mustangs advance to the Southern Section semifinals, the deepest run in the 51-year history of the program. He was a Rivals 4-star recruit and helped the basketball team to the state title. Oregon State resumes practice Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and will hold its first "scrum" of the spring practice session Friday.

O State Ballaz, Yes We Ballin

I'm super pumped about the baseball season, so I'm just gonna post it. O State Ballaz, Yes We Ballin, O State Ballaz, Yes We Ballin O State, O State, Baaallaz. O State, O State, Baaallaz.

Breaking down Quizz Rodgers vs USC

"Today, I'll go back to the Oregon St.-USC game from November, a lopsided game which drew a poor outing (trying to be nice to the USC fans here) from QB Matt Barkley before being sidelined by an ankle injury. For the Beavers, Jacquizz Rodgers put together an impressive game: 128 yards rushing with a TD and 43 yards receiving, all coming on the night he passed St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson on OSU's all-time rushing leaders list to move up to 3rd."

DBacks' bullpen catcher will eat anything for $$$

"They'd be like, 'Hey, how about I pay you to eat this, drink this or let me whip you with that? I'll give you $400.' And I'm like, 'Okay!'"

Paea to have private Pro Day

Stephen Paea will have a private pro day workout with teams on March 31st at Noon in Corvallis. I'm assuming it is because he was not ready during the OSU pro day earlier this month (due to a knee injury). Word.

Stephen Paea to have private Pro Day

According to Twitter: March 31st at Noon in Corvallis, Stephen Paea will have a private Pro Day for the scouts

Biggest fallers on draft boards after the combine

"That's where most of the questions are actually answered, though the usefulness of combine drills varies per position and per player. Here are eight players who, for whatever reason, got back on the planes to their hometowns with a fall in several draft boards, and lot to work on before their Pro Days." One ofthe people listed is my beloved JacQuizz Rodgers. He has a lot to work on prior to his pro day.

Quizz on the list of draft board fallers after the combine

Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Oregon State - Rodgers has always been a dynamic player; his size (5-foot-6, 196 pounds) is less a concern than you might think once you watch him play. But for the people wondering if he might be the next Dexter McCluster, Rodgers' 4.64 40-yard dash raised a lot of red flags as to his speed, and his 33-inch vertical jump will make some wonder if he's explosive enough to hold up in the pros. I think he needs to have a great pro day. WE (BtD) know pretty damn well about his "game speed" and his cuts, but what do the scouts think and how will his stock change by draft day?

Best Combine performances

Saw this slide show of the best performances. You tell me how much it means for your pro career

2011 Draft features a lot of good DTs

Saw this article, from the Rams website, talking about how deep the draft is with Defensive Tackles.

Video: Stephen Paea breaks NFL Scouting Combine record

Oregon State's DT Stephen Paea shows why he is a beast, by bench pressing 225 lbs 49 times (that's 11,025 lbs.)

Quizz, SJax and the NFL Combine

The main author for TurfShowTimes (St Louis Rams SBN) got credentials from SB Nation to go to the Combine, and since I constantly bring up Quizz and Paea, he's been watching them for me. He wrote another piece for the Blog on Quizz Rodgers. OSU articles on TST: 2, Other NCAA Schools: 0. You're welcome, America.

TST does a piece on the Beavers to enter the Draft

"Several Beavers will be on display this week at the Combine, with varying levels of exposure for each one. Fans and draftniks will be eager to see these Beavers. The St. Louis Rams would be wise to keep an eye on all three of these Beavers since each one potentially fills a big need. ... "

Mock Draft - Paea to Rams?!

Yet another of the numerous NFL mock drafts, and there will be a crap-load more to come. However, this one projects Stephen Paea to get drafted by the Rams in the first round. Despite his surgery, his stock apparently rose: "14. St. Louis Rams: Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State. With the top two receivers off the board, the Rams may look to trade down - that's the clear biggest need. Paea, however, would be a great fit in Steve Spagnuolo's defense, but teams will need to make sure that his surgically repaired meniscus won't keep him out of training camp." I'd be happy with another Beaver on a Rams squad.

Stephen Paea Hurts Knee at Senior Bowl Practice

Ted Miller has bad news about Oregon St.'s Stephen Paea, who has injured his knee in preparations for the Senior Bowl. It sounds like it isn't a disaster, and Paea may still draft high, assuming a full recovery. But the bench press record at the combine may survive, and Paea might slide some spots on draft day. If he does drop to the 2nd round, I believe he'll be a steal...doubt he'll fall enough for the Rams to get him in the 2nd round, but would be awesome. He's a stud.

Vote Sam for Rookie of the Year

Let's make a push and vote for Sam Bradford as Pepsi Rookie of the Year. Once I vote, I refresh the page and vote again. So keep voting till you're bored!

I thought this was funny anyway.
