Can anyone name me a successful baseball player that retired in the prime of his career because he wasn't motivated to play any longer? I know that I know this but I am drawing a blank right now, thanks

I know this is completely OT but I am doing a research paper on glenoid labrum tears in baseball and for some reason I am having a lot of trouble finding a simple list of players who have had this injury. The only one that comes to mind right now is Robb Nen so if anyone can either name some more or find a list that would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, I was wondering if any one knows when Giants fans first chanted "Beat LA" because i heard someone claim it was started in the eastern conference finals of 1983 when the celtics were finishing off some team and getting ready to play the lakers, but I always figured it was us that started it. I would hate to think it wasn't us Giants fans that started the glorious chant. BEAT LA BEAT LA!

FanFest Autographs?

as the mayor said earlier, the fanfest pretty much sucked. sure they had the right players, booths, and such but no organization. the autograph lines were outrageous, i ended up waiting around 3 hours for Fred Lewis and Erick Threets while i hear Zito and Cain were at a table with 2 other players! so i was wondering if any of you actually had a good experience with getting autographs/or meeting a player.

I figured many of us will be attending the fanfest on the 20th, so i believe that we should set up a meeting place so we can put names to faces and spread the word of our beloved chronicles to anyone who hasnt heard of us before. it also might be a good idea to bring some McC t-shirts to sell

Why is everyone so eager to throw away Lowry?

I dont see any sense in trying to trade lowry at this point. lets be honest, the Giants arent going to be world series champions within the next 2 years (the amount of time Sexson and Manny are locked up) so why throw away our young talent that WILL be apart of the next quality Giants team. Our future rides on the back of Lowry, Sanchez, Cain, Timmeh, and Sanchez not Sexson or Manny.

Rotoworld: Giants signed infielder Rich Aurilia, who had been with the Reds, to a two-year contract.

It's worth $7 million-$8 million. The Reds are set to get a supplemental first-round pick and the Giants' third rounder for losing Aurilia, a Type A free agent. The 35-year-old Aurilia would have been a decent signing as a third baseman, but the Giants are expected to play him at first, where he probably won't be much of an asset. Aurilia hit .300/.349/.518 last season, but that was just the second year of his career with an OPS over 800 and he was only at .276/.318/.437 against right-handers.
