I really hate how sports talk has gone the last few years.  The last few years doesn't matter, it's all about the day before.  Someone is the greatest ever because of the day before. Santonio Holmes = greatest catch ever.  James Harrison = greatest play ever.

I knew I'd hear a lot of  "The Steelers are the greatest franchise ever" talk, and I might even agree with that (with Dallas a close #2).  But getting into the car today, I actually had to listen to at least 15 minutes of Colin Cowherd trying to prove that Big Ben is better than Peyton Manning.  His reasoning?  His 4th quarter numbers, he's elusive, and he has 2 rings. 

Now, Im trying not to be a hater about their win yesterday (I can get like that sometimes.)  I have tons of respect for their franchise.  But come on.  I don't think rings make you a better player than everyone else.  If that's the case, Charles Haley's the greatest player ever, and Doug Williams is better than Dan Marino. 

His other point was if you were holding a draft for QBs, you would take Brady first, Big Ben 2nd.  He said that if you don't agree with him, you're in denial and you think your QB is better.  Tell Colts fans that. 

A caller called in and compared Big Ben to Eli and Mark Rypien.  A QB who didn't make mistakes and rode a great defense to a title.  Could you imagine how many titles Peyton would win with that defense?  Good lord.

Am I just being a hater, or does this argument have any cred at all?
