Alright Lions fans its that time of the week again!
So for the last couple of weeks I have been posting this Facebook page to get some votes for Lions games. If the Lions game wins the poll it is garunteed that they show the game overseas so us troops deployed can watch it. Here is the link:
http://www.facebook.com/myAFN?sk=app_137676049649818
All you have to do is like the page and then you can vote for the game you want to see. If all of you with Facebook accounts could log in goto the page and vote for the Lions game every vote helps. Thank God I will be home on R&R on Thanksgiving so I can watch the game with beer in hand. Thanks to everyone who helps out. GO LIONS! RESTORE THE ROAR!
Please vote for the LIONS GAME!
I know I already created a post for this but Lions fans that are deployed really need your help! On American Forces Network they have a voting poll every week where the #1 and #2 games voted for get shown over seas. The Lions game is at least 50 votes short of 2nd place. Please visit the below link n Facebook and vote for the Lions game so we can see it over here. Any and all votes would be greatly appreciated!

Every week AFN has a poll to see what game is wanted the most and then shown. If you could take 5 mins out of your day to vote it would be greatly appreciated! RESTORE THE ROAR and GO LIONS!
What fans really need to realize
While I dont post on here often and I definately read more than I post. I just wanted to put out a few of my thoughts. I think some fans really dont realize how well our coaching staff fits together when it comes down to the HC's overall gameplan and how well this team is being built to make that happen.
Linehan is doing a outstanding job and what the teams wants to do which is being able to score points. Since he has taken over this offense he has not had his perferred QB and he has still been able to score points. He has kept the Lions within grasp of victories all last year. Now where they havent been able to hold there own is being able to control the clock when in the lead. Hence the arrival of Young and Leshoure. If the OL can finally build up to being able to creat holes for our young running back that will be achieved this year. Then all the weapons will be unleashed and we will stop trying to hold leads and start demolishing teams.
Now Gun is getting close to what he wants. He has done a outstanding job of adapting to what opposing teams are trying to do on offense. Which is stop the enemy from controlling the clock and making teams throw more. This opens his best weapon up, which is letting his DLine loose on the QB. Obviously where he has failed is stopping that short intermediate pass and the YAC that it creates. The Pats really showed us our weakness for everyone to view last year. But think about what happened after that game. It stopped. Plain and simple he shored the hole. If he gets one competant OLB that can tackle and read Offenses this will not be as weak. Do we need a true Lockdown CB? It would be nice but no we dont. We need CB's that can jam them at the line and stay with them after they get loose to allow his weapon (that awesome DL) to hurry, rush and sack the QB.
So where this all leads to is this. Their Overall Gameplan meshes so well. The DC wants to force more 3 and outs and the OC wants to move the ball but not so fast as to give the other team the chance to wear down our D. If we lost Gun or Linehan it would be a huge mistake. If you want to see true success from this team give our big 3 (Schwartz, Gun and Linehan) 2 more years. Now some of you shortsighted people are thinking 2 more years!? And I say yes 2 more years. This year I do believe we are a legitimate wildcard team. If we continue on course next year we will be a legitimate playoff team. Not wildcard hoping to stay in the hunt, but a legitimate contender that teams will be truely gameplaning against at the start of the year to keep them out of the Playoffs because we will have the chance to lift that trophy. And remember this, OUR team is planning for the future we all want and that is repaet trips to the playoffs, not 1 and done. You al lmay want to big FA aquisition (ie namdi) but to me that takes away form the future of this team and that is to be able to play the FA market every year form here on out. We need several solid players not 1 big name.
Just my lowly soldiers humble opinion. And one final note END THE FREAKING LOCKOUT BECUASE WITHOUT FOOTBALL THIS YEAR MY TIME IN THIS 3RD WORLD SANDY ASS COUNTRY WILL BE FREAKING BORING!

Meredith question?
SO I posted this on Seans article but after thinking about it I wanted alittle more attention to my question. Were the Lions trying to be slick with Meredith? What I mean is did they claim him off waivers to put him on the PS? I know that when you claim someone off waivers they have to be signed to the 53 man roster. And we all know the Giants claimed him when he was released, but if he had cleared the waiver wire could the Lions have placed him on the PS? What do you guys think?
Wesly cut and Willaims activated.
The Storey says he was porbably cut becuase of his penalty on the PR at the end of the game. I doubt any staff member confirms this becuase they may need to bring him back because of injuries. God I pray there are no serious injuries in the secondary. Williams was playing well in the game he was injured in last year, although if I remember right it was his only game. He could replace Wade as the nickel too.
OK take a step back....
and understand that at the Lions are competitive this year. I understand the loses are upsetting but we have played some good teams this year and have been in the game at the end. Think about this team last year and the year before and the games we played this we wound not have even been close to winning. i believe and I will say that again "I believe", why people are disappointed is thier expectations are year ahead of where our team sits to this day. What I mean when I say this is last year everyone was saying "OK we lost but we lost big why cant our team be more competitive?". Well this year we are competitive.
We have played some of the top Teams in the NFC and been competitive. Greenbay, New York, Chicago, Philly and Minnesota. I would say Minnesota was our worst game but look at the scores in the rest of the games and you cant deny we have been competitive. We almost beat 4 of these teams. Yes we beat ST. Louis in every aspect of football last week and that put high expectations to the Giants game. But we had a chance to bea them at the end of the game with our 3rd string QB that almost no one believed in.
All i want fans to understand is we are still building. This year we are competitive and I can fore see us winning these games we lost this year, next year. Don't lose faith our front office and coaching staff are building right and we just need more pieces to the puzzle. Our wish was granted, maybe a year late, but it was granted our team is competitive and the Lions put opposing teams feet in the fire this year. Next year is our time to shine bright and burn those feet!
GO LIONS!
Backus best LT in the NFC North?
So according to this article from ESPN he is.
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/11159/scouts-inc-peppers-vs-the-nfc-north
So does this mean we do get Suh, Berry, Mccoy or some other unkown top 5 college athlete? Or will we indeed draft Okung and push Backus to guard or use Okung as a guard until Backus is finally pushed to guard?
I guess we will see come the end of April but it would be nice to know now.......
Competition for Backus finally
here it is fellas what you guys have wished for.
http://blog.mlive.com/highlightreel/2009/05/detroit_lions_sign_offensive_t.html
Don't be surprised if he doesn't beat out Backus though. I think Backus is a stud that has just been waiting for some help on the line. If he does beat out Backus then more the power to him. I just don't see it happening. Maybe they will move this guy to LG.
My 2009 Prediction
OK why not.
1. New Orleans Loss did a great job of upgrading thier weaknesses
2. Minnesota Loss still no QB but Adrian wins the day
3. Washington Loss will be a Plaff contender
4. Chicago Win Cutler has o chemistry yet. We get our first win.
5. Pittsburgh Loss potential repeat year
6. Green Bay Win We get a upset.
7. St. Louis Win rebuilding just like us
8. Seatle Win just can't get it together for another year
9. Min Loss just too tough with Adrian back there.
10. Cleveland Win Team heading in the wrong direction
11. Green Bay Loss they get thier revenge
12. Cincinatti Win this tean is fallin apart
13. Baltimore. Loss Going back to the playoffs
14. Arizona Loss playoff team again
15. San Fransisco Win still no QB worth a crap
16 Chicago Loss Lovie gets the bears in the Playoffs with this win on a wildcard.
So the potential is there for a 7-9 season I think. of course Minnesota takes the Division without a clear cut QB again. And the Bear get in on a Wild Card berth to justify the Cuter trade. ANd yes we compete with GB for the basement in the North.
OK so it is over....
My first actual post and I am a horrible typer but hey lets try this out. I have to say I wasn't happy with the draft. But it is over and now it is time to move on we have what we have and now we need to start looking at getting ready for the season. There are still some FA's out there and there will be some cuts before Preseason even begins and some when it ends. I mean lets look at things we did need a safety wth bullocks and alexanders injury concerns. We did need a blocking and recieving TE. And yes we did need a QB of the future becuase we all know DC is not the future. Were they the 1st day picks we wanted, no, but you have to admit at least they will be talented starters for our future. With our 2nd day picks were they off the wall yes but I do see value in them. Maybe we didn't get that prototypical MLB but Swartz is a DEF guy and I have to trust in the fact that he knows what he is doing. Has he done anything so far to make us not trust him? I am the kinda person that will give people the benefit of the doubt till they burn me. Some may say this is stupid but I am who I am. Well nough rambling and to stick to the main point of this post lets fricking MOVE ON and get ready for a season that can't be any worse than last year. I mean they haven't made it a 20 game season yet so we can't go 0-20 we can either stay the same or get better and I hope it is better.
Just my 2 cents.
