Pirates acquire Chris Snelling
He's made of glass, and at 27 he's not a prospect any more, but he was once a really talented hitter. Nice guy to have around at no cost.

Alvarez homers in debut; Indy down tons
Indianapolis is getting killed, but CF McCutchen is 2-3 with a triple and a walk so far. Davis, Hamman, and Powell have all been shelled.
Meanwhile Lynchburg won 6-5; 3B Alvarez grounded out in his first AB, but then hit a single to left, a two-run homer to center, and a two-run double to center. Not a bad professional debut for the bonus baby. SS Jordy Mercer was also 2-3 with a walk.

BP posts Pirates Top 11 Prospects
The list is here for subscribers. The order surprised me a little; Goldstein is very high on Robbie Grossman and Quinton Miller, for example. That's promising since I assume Goldstein has more information on these guys than any one of us does.
Notably, 5 of the top 6 prospects are Huntington acquisitions. Also of interest: "Andy LaRoche is an enigma who I refuse to give up on. His stat line looks like that of a Quad-A player, but his skill set— specifically his combination of power and good contact—does not."

David Price wins his first pro start
He pitched five innings, allowing 3 hits, no runs, and 1 walk (to the second batter he faced) while striking out 4. Clearwater hit 12 balls in play off Price; 9 were on the ground. The lefty threw 49 of 73 pitches for strikes. His pitch count might have been limited because of a 90-minute rain delay before the start of the game.
