Finding A Silver Lining.
For most of us Twins fans, looking for a silver lining in the season is a hard thing to do. We are out of practice at it. We haven't practiced since the mid to late '90s. Right now there may be some Twins fans who want us to lose now that the season is all but over in hopes of securing a top three pick. With added losses we can "Timberwolf" the system and move higher in the draft in hopes our Lebron James comes around, or at least a guy who is a starting pitcher and has a fastball that could break a window.
I'm not here to argue the merits or lack thereof of fans who cheer or rather hope for losing. It's just gonna go in circles and whatever. What I will say is that if the Twins continue to lose and do poorly, it stands to reason that our current players are sucking. And being that some of our current players hope to become useful if not necessary tools for the club down the road, that would be bad. Let's look at some numbers and names after the jump.
I love the Game
Ever since I could comprehend spoken english, I have heard my parents say that I, their eldest, was born with a glove on my hand. Growing up, I figured out how to play the Game alone on my farm. I had the painted square on the side of one of the old sheds on my parents humble farm south of Fargo. I mowed the tall grass, thistle, and cockleburr that grew on that plot of ground every spring, and shoveled the basepaths in the winter. I dug up small chuncks of earth to show where the bases were when my mom got angry because I had ruined four of her pillows. I piled the chunks of earth up to make a mound. I had my dad's old softball bats from his league and even had him and a couple of his teamates on my imaginary team (along with the great twins at the time, of course). I had a brightly colored shirt that I wore with brown shorts for my "road" games. At that time, in those days, I was as close and as one with the game as I have ever been.
