Behind the Steel Curtain Ward DUI

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6751942

Not Good. This is a bit shocking, Ward has always been the responsible one. There aren't much details right now but I wouldn't imagine theres much more to it then that.

Think the Steelers will suspend him a game? think GODell will bring down the hammer cause he wears black and gold? It is his first offense against NFl policy as far as I know.

Behind the Steel Curtain Arians to sign one year contract to remain at OC

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81e79072/article/steelers-oc-arians-will-sign-oneyear-deal-to-stay-in-pittsburgh?module=HP_headlines

Yeehaw! The battle between Arians' haters and lovers can continue on for at least another year. I, personally, am disappointed...while Arians isn't all that bad I would like to see someone else get a shot for I think we could do better, however, we could certainly do worse. I'm pretty on the fence about it.

This move is especially interesting to me because it is only for a single year. The ownership continues to show that they don't have complete faith in him but clearly show that they like some aspects of his game. Does Lebeau's, more then likely, one year continuation have any impact on this decision? Anyway you slice it, the one year deal raises some eyebrows.

Behind the Steel Curtain Wanna know what James Harrison did with your money?

This might be worth a fanshot but I figured everyone needed to see this.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81cfbbb7/article/steelers-tough-guy-harrison-using-donations-to-help-needy-kids?module=HP_headlines

Deebo is using that money (which i thought most of us sent to the NFL offices, but okay) to host a party for children. That has to be one of the classiest things a Steeler has done and thats saying a lot. He gets such a bad rap (wrap?) for playing tough but in the end he is a quality person off the field and that should not go unnoticed. The man loves Saturday morning cartoons for crying out loud.

Harrison started a foundation with it, so essentially, Steeler Nation started a foundation....man, we are awesome.

Behind the Steel Curtain Steeler madden ratings

http://espn.go.com/videogames/madden11?teamId=29

nothing major to complain about actually, and I usually have a lot to complain about with ratings.

Do have a few gripes though. Before Ben was suspended they had him listed as a 91 overall in a preview. Now hes an 88, whats the deal?

All the Steeler rookies are fairly disappointing.

Theres some serious drop of in the DBs after McFadden, which is realistic, just painful to see. Though Lewis shouldn't be that low.

Reed is too low.

And Dixon and Batch's overalls should change places.

upon further review

Troy's tackling is way low. A 70, seriously?

Ben's accuracy is really lacking.

Eason isn't all that great but I really don't think he is that bad, much less our worst d lineman.

Ziggy has no motor in this, low acceleration, medium pursuit, and low stamina.

Essex at a 77 is a bit generous.

Behind the Steel Curtain Favorite Sports Movies

Big Ben got you down? Suffering from loss-of-holmesitis? putting a lot of faith in Sweed? tired of bad stuff? Try this!

Not sure where SteelFever has been roaming around but we could use more favorite movie list...anything that distracts us from all the negativity (thank god Beerman hasn't showed up).

This genre (sports) has been ironically ignored in our ongoing discussion of our favorite movies.

So list your favorite sports movies, or don't, I'm not your boss.

1. Rudy - c'mon, don't act like you don't get goosebumps everytime you see Rudy run onto the field in the final game.

2. Hoosiers - c'mon, don't act like you don't get goosebumps when they win.

3. Victory - beatin' up Nazis...on the Soccer Field.

4. Rocky 4 - not the best Rocky movie but c'mon, he solves the whole Cold War problem with a boxing match! And don't even get me started on Apollo Creed...tear...

5. Remember the Titans - c'mon, don't act like you don't get goosebumps when so and so......you get it now.

6. Field of Dreams - hard for me to like Baseball movies but this was more than just baseball, it had ghost and stuff!

7. Friday Night Lights - the music really made this movie for me.

8. The Natural - the music, the exploding lights...perfect scene.

for whatever reason I stopped at 8.

Honorable Mentions: A League of Their Own (Tom Hanks made that movie worth it), Talladega Nights (was funny, but NASCAR isn't a sport), Dodgeball (funny but not hilarious), Rocky 1,2, and 3 (but 5 and 6? Hell no), The Legend of Bagger Vance (sure theres better Golf movies....but I liked it for whatever reason), Rookie of the Year (not really, but they did have that all awesome line, "funky butt loving.")

Behind the Steel Curtain Rumors of coaching changes

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4738788

not sure if this has been posted yet and if it has I apologize.

According to ESPN Ligashesky(confirmed) and probably Arians will be gone after the season. Many of us have been clamouring for it to happen awhile now.

Arians just didn't know how to use his weapons. It was a shame that an offense with Ben, Ward, Holmes, Wallace, Heath, Mendy, Moore, Parker, and even Dixon could see so many pitiful games. Thats more weapons than some teams have on their whole roster (I'm looking at you Detriot).

As far as Ligashesky goes, I don't think this is surprising at all......no one should be shocked about it.

I'm curious to see what happens with the defense though....Lebeau has had a crappy season but we're not about to begin to turn our back on him, nor should we. But the D has probably been the biggest let down of the season......wonder how that will be fixed.

Edit: Zierlien might be gone as well.

Behind the Steel Curtain Steve McNair found shot to death

http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=10643962

http://cbs4.com/national/Steve.McNair.shot.2.1071568.html

Theres various other links all over the internet, but no one big like ESPN or yahoo have reported it yet. Still, it seems legit to me.

Sad to see, especially considering what has been happening to celebrities over the past few weeks. This is getting ridiculous. He may have been a rival but you still hate to see this happen.

Behind the Steel Curtain NFL.com Article on DPOTY

Heres an interesting article on  what we already knew...

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80d02ea6&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

As of right now Harrison is the lead for Denfensive MVP according to the writer. I'm not gonna disagree. It leaves out safeties, tackles, and the such all together but it still makes a good arguement.

Its good to see others agree with us.

Behind the Steel Curtain Troy TD should have counted

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=281116023

We won the game and the TD was after the fact but apparntly the refs admitted they were wrong. I am not whining because we lost a TD or whatnot. I am whining because there were a lot of questionable calls on us yet San Diego strangely got off the hook (Harrison was being held constantly). I big deal was made about the spread afterwards and many of us conspiracy theorists believe the NFL is targeting the Steelers on penalties and fines................what do you think of this situation now the refs have admitted they were wrong?

Behind the Steel Curtain Cheer up, there is hope

Obviously, our Team is in a slump. There is no debating that. But c'mon, we are 6-3 not 3-6. We are techinically leading our division (we have the tiebreaker over the Ravens). This slump we are in reminds me of our Super Bowl year. Ben came back perhaps too soon from an injury and played like crap. We got destoryed by the Colts and lost to the Bengals, in large part due to an unhealthy QB. Well, we eventually turned it around and won the Super Bowl. Hold the "doom and gloom" until we are truly in danger of missing the playoffs.

We have the Chargers up next. They are certainly dangerous but they are a mess. They have Norv Turner as their coach, thats reason enough to be excited about this match-up. I like our chances against them. Some of our missing pieces should be returning.

According to NFL.com here's how our injuries look:

Parker should be back, and as amazing as Moore has been for us it will be nice to have that speed back.

Marvel Smith should be back. I was critical of him early in the season but the O-line did look better with him in there I think.

Roethlisberger is going to play so long as he practices more than he did last week according to Tomlin. That means if he isn't close to 100% than Byron will play, and if he is close to 100% than well, he's close to 100%, so yay. It appears Tomlin is starting to crackdown on Ben's injury some. So, this may be good for all you "doom and gloomers" or us positive people.

Woodley should be back as well.

Its not disaster mode yet people. Cheer up, we're not dead. We are tied for the second best record in the AFC. This is a good team who's worst enemy is themselves (themself?). Fix that, which we can and will, and this is a Super Bowl caliber team.

Behind the Steel Curtain Ocho Cinco Defends Hines

I was just watching NFL Live and they asked CJ about Hines and the recent mess that surrounds him.

Johnson said, "Hines doesn't mean to be cheap. He plays reciever like a defensive player. No one in the league plays as violently as Hines Ward."

Although it can be miscontrued i find it pretty obvious that Johnson is defending Hines and his tough style of play. I'm glad to hear it too. Hate Chad or not but he defends a Steeler here, a rival. I've always like Johnson but this makes me appreciate him even more. Glad he mentioned the thing about Hines playing like a defensive player because its all defensive players that are complaining about Ward. This makes it fairly obvious that they are being hypocrites.

Behind the Steel Curtain Holmes Busted on Possession

Bumped. Oh by the way, BTSC is the official sponsor of Santonio's ProFootballReference Page. "Tone I'm not mad. I'm disappointed'. I always hated that speech from the parents.  Sigh. Keep Your Head Up Santonio! - Bllitz-

Haven't seen this posted too many places but it seems to be true. He could face a possible suspension (up to 4 games).

All I have to say is WHY? Holmes WHY? (at least he was cooperative). Nowadays, pot possession is so common it is no big deal, but still.

I don't really see this warranting a suspension but you never know. Never can tell with Goodell, especially when it is about Steelers players (joking.....kind of).
