Reds could stay in sarasota
John Fay reports that sarasota said ok to the reds new plans for their ballpark. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20080213/SPT04/302130090/
I really hope the reds stay in sarasota flordia, my parents have a house 5 mins (its closes close to dick vitales house down there) from ed smith statium and we went down there last year and it was awesome. No matter were you sit you have a good seat. I think sarasota is kind of panicing at the reds leaving, i mean with out them its just old people. Anybody else think the reds should stay in sarasota.
ESPN SAYS CINCINNATI HAS A GREAT CHANCE THIS YEAR
i couldn't believe it, the reds, our cincinnati reds were picked by espn to be a contender. Its great to hear that we are getting support from other places. Its a great artical and will at least help the pain untill pitchers and catchers report.

Reds sign two
From reds.com
Nine years after beginning his Major League career in Pittsburgh, left-hander Scott Sauerbeck is trying to make his way back home.
The addition of Bako increases the Reds' depth behind the plate by adding a veteran catcher with 10 years of Major League experience. In those 10 years, Bako has been traded four times and has already played for nine different big league clubs. All combined, the 35-year-old catcher has a career .233 average.
Bako begins the 2008 season off the heels of a one-year stint as the Orioles' backup catcher. In 60 games for Baltimore last year, Bako hit .205 with one home run and eight RBIs.
The addition of Sauerbeck and Bako brings the list of Reds Spring Training non-roster invitees to 19.
Erick Bedard to Mairiners? PSYCH!!!!
From MLB TRADE RUMORS
UPDATE, 1-28-08 at 4:51pm: I honestly didn't think Angelos would interfere with this one. But according to Ken Rosenthal, the deal is on hold and possibly off because of him. Then again, we knew it was on hold until Tuesday anyway because of Angelos' availability.
FROM 1-28-08 at 1:43pm:
Let's get a fresh post going for the Erik Bedard rumors.
According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Bedard to Seattle trade awaits Peter Angelos' approval. Angelos will not be available today to evaluate the deal because of a family matter. So this should drag a bit more.
Stark still expects the deal to get done but verifies that Adam Jones was not sent to Baltimore for a physical.
Jerry Crasnick says both Jones and George Sherrill have been told to take physicals in anticipation of the deal. Sherrill disputes this in the Seattle PI, though.
Stark and Crasnick say the current package from Seattle is Jones, Sherrill, Chris Tillman, and a fourth unknown prospect. Tillman, however, hasn't yet been informed of a trade.
Fondest Baseball Memorys
Before the season starts i think it would be cool if we all shared our best memory's in baseball. It could be a game you went to, a game you played in, or someone you met. Also do any of you guys know how i would be able to watch videos of lousville bats players like dickerson or other players? I'll go first... My best baseball memory so far was probably when i first really started to enjoy baseball. I was playing on a select baseball team and our team played in maysville kentucky. The whole team traveled up there and it was my first game that i got to stay the night for a tourney. It was great being able to spend the night with my dad, and hang out with the team. On the last day i got a chance to pitch and pitched on of the best games of my carrer.
Wise FDA'd
Hey guys just heard matt wise was FDA'd by the brewers. I think he could be a good edition to the pen alone with Cordero. Could some of you guys pull up his numbers for me, and what is your oppion on the wise guy?? I also really hope the reds can pull off bedard, and maybe a 5th rotation man, but wise could be a wise move. Plus think about all the fun we could have with his name, since cantu is gone!
just wow
this was posted in reds.com mail bag answers
What do you think the Reds' chances are for signing Andruw Jones? He would be a great fit. The outfield would be Adam Dunn, Jones, and Ken Griffey Jr.
-- Mark Y., Whitehall, Penn.
A great fit? How do you figure? Financially, it makes no sense. Dunn ($13 million) and Griffey ($12.5 million) already tie up over $25 million in salary for 2008. Assuming the Reds bump payroll up to $75 million, that's already one-third tied up in two outfielders. Jones made $14 million last season with the Braves and is sure to collect a hefty sum as a free agent. While he is one of the best center fielders in the game defensively, he had a horrible year at the plate. With Hamilton, Ryan Freel and Norris Hopper, Cincinnati is flush with center fielders. If the Reds were to make a big splash acquisition, it should at least fill a pressing need -- and right now that would be pitching.
How can someone ask that?
Francisco Cordero???
From Cincinnati.com -I get the feeling that the Reds' emphasis for free agency will be on relief pitching because the talent pool is deeper than it is for starters.
The Reds got of the gate early last year by signing Alex Gonzalez. That could happen again -- before the market gets too high.
The question is will the Reds make a run at someone like Francisco Cordero (44 saves, 2.98 ERA), the best closer on the list of free agents not named Mariano Rivera. Cordero's going to get a whole lot of money.
My guess that the payroll would be in the $75 million range may have been low. The club is going get to more in revenue-sharing and luxury tax, so maybe they can shop with the big boys.-John Fay
So what do u guys think could the reds really pull in Francisco Cordero?
eddie guardado
As far as i have heard the reds have not reached a deal with eddie g. Has anybody heard any different? I definitely think that the reds should try to resign eddie g. He had some problems after comming off of the surgery but in the last i think 7 apperances didn't allow a run. I think we could get him cheap and keep him in the pen as a middle relief guy or even a setup guy. (or even if he keeps it up a closer if weathers starts failing) Hopefully no other teams will want to take a chance on his new arm and the reds can get him cheap.
