Peter King thinks RGIII and the Skins could be in the playoffs year one!!! (poll)
While perusing PFT this morning (while trying my hardest not to do any work...while at work), I watched the video with Peter King and Florio discussing some hot button issues. Later in the video....prolly the 15 min mark, they started to discuss Griffin and the Skins.
Here's the link to the video:
Peter King talks QBs on PFT Live
More after the jump:
Chris Horton signs with the Giants!!!
Per Evan Silva on PFT (I know, I know), Chris Horton has come to terms with the New York Giants!
Look what's on eBay already!!!!
RGIII ........ Would you? (POLL)
There is so much debate between here, the other local blogs, and sports radio. I just want to make this simple...if what they are saying is true, and we swap this years 1st, and send our 2nd, 3rd, next year's 1st to St.Louis to get ourselves in position for RGIII.....would you do it? Would you personally pull the trigger on that trade? No other scenarios, no what ifs.....just simply would you? Please feel free to expand in the comments....if you said "Yes"....would you be willing to give up more and what? If you answered "No", why and what trade scenario would you consider if any?
Letter to London.....
I want to take this opportunity to share my feelings on Fletcher getting snubbed for the ProBowl for Brian Urlacher....a great middle linebacker......3 years ago. I am not here to take anything away from Urlacher but there is really no argument that can be made that he deserves it more than our boy London. The man is 36 and not only leading the Skins in tackles but is leading the entire NFL in tackles. How does that alone not get you in? Urlacher isn't even leading his team in tackles and is 71 tackles behind Fletch. On top of that....Urlacher has no sacks and no forced fumbles. He has recovered 2 fumbles and has 3 INT's...but for a whopping total of 7 yards. Fletcher has one more solo tackle than Brian's total tackles. Fletcher has 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 int.
I voted multiple times for the ProBowl but obviously not enough. Mr. Fletcher, If you stay here next season, I personally vow....and guarantee that I will lead one of the most thorough ProBowl voting campaigns ever conceived. I will spam every sports site, Skins site, Rams site, Bills site, and social media site I can. I will independently vote for you 100 times and will be so damned annoying on here that everyone else will as well. I will write letters to your entire offense individually to make sure they put your name in. I will write every coach and team president we face and remind them of the hustle and havoc you wreaked on them not only next year...but every year prior. I will personally make sure you make it to a ProBowl...not as a damned alternate....but the way you should be. The only thing that sucks is the 1st ProBowl you get in the right way.....you won't be able to play in....you will be busy hopefully preparing for a SuperBowl (has to slip a little Kool-Aid in).
Who's in??????????????

Thomas benched from return duties for Giants!!!
Well, well, well.....big shocker.....Devin Thomas has had his kick return duties revoked by the Giants and Coughlin. I am sure none of us are surprised....but it still puts a smile on my face during another abismal season for the Skins!!!
Pryor ineligible for Supplemental Draft.....
PFT is reporting Pryor is ineligible for the Supplemental Draft.....one big collective sigh of relief for Skins fans!
**There is a chance he can be ruled eligible at a later date but time is tick, tick, ticking!!!
Skins sign CB Josh Wilson....Carlos out?
We just "signed" (ie: agreed to terms) Josh Wilson from the Ravens. The deal is for $13.5 million over 3 years w/ a $6 million guarantee. I think this is a solid signing....Wilson is on the upswing of his career and w/ the Ravens drafting Jimmy Smith, Wilson has become expendable. I like this signing and is a sign that we won't be chasing the big name corners potentially. I like Wilson paired with Hall and keeping Barnes in the slot. Rotoworld considers him to be an upgrade over Carlos and while I am not sure about that yet; if he is....that could be a steal!!!
Kevin Smith anyone????
So I just read that Kevin Smith has been released by the Lions on a site that is the TMZ of Pro Football.
How would everyone feel about him as a Skin? I know he has had some injuries, but I feel like he could be had at a decent value for a young guy (3 years). I think if we can swing a team friendly deal with him....it would be well worth our time to kick the tires.
What does everyone think of DeAndre Brown...WR Southern Miss?
Let me start this off by saying, I do not know much about who's who in college besides the obvious guys. I hear a name.....try to watch as much unbiased video as I can and make up my mind. That said, DeAndre Brown was recently brought to my attention. I have no clue what round the "experts" have him slated to go, but I like the situation for us.
He has gotten leg injuries (shin, broken leg) each of the last 2 seasons. He absolutely killed it his freshman year.....he is currently listed at 6'6" and 239lbs. His 40 time is 4.47s. I would think with the injuries....he may slide down the draft board to the 2nd or 3rd days of the draft. This guy could be the sleeper of the draft...at least at the WR position. I have watched some tape on him and I am going to avoid posting highlight reel footage for you guys. I am just looking for more info and opinions on him from people who follow college more than I do. I know with the leg injuries...and our current big WR with history of leg issues...this may be a scary thought for some. Neither leg injury involved any ligament or tendons...and he actually returned this year from the broken leg at the end of the season...and that 4.47 was ran Jan 3!

Wishes do come true....Galloway Out....Austin In!!!
There has been a clamor and it appears some wishes have been granted. Latest news out of Redskins Park is Joey Galloway has been waived....Terrence Austin has been signed from the practice squad! Galloway actually had a pretty impressive career....over 700 rec, 10,000+ yards and 77 TDs. However...it appears the game has passed him by and this move was beyond due for the best of the team. I welcome Austin and some more youth into our roster and hope he gets an opportunity to shine. Here's a good ole' HTTR to Austin fairing better than our recent WR draft picks of the past!

In the midst of this season filled with inconsistency......there is one constant.......Lorenzo Alexander. Every week when I watch with high anticipation of complete disappointment......there is one shining star. Off-Topic: Any Caps fans? Want an HH Fantasy hockey league?
This will be the ONLY post for this since it is completely non-Skins related other than I want Skins fans to do it! I started a league on Yahoo for hockey season. It is basically going to be a 12-team, 2-division, head-to-head league full of Skins fans whom prolly don't know as much as they should. I am a big Caps fan but not necessarily hockey....so I thought it could be a fun, uneducated league. No money involved....the live draft i set for Oct 2 (Sat) @ 8:30pm. If you want in....go to Yahoo Fantasy Sports....look for league name: "Caps in 4" and the password is "capsin4". As I said....this will be the only post about this....so all you anti-fantasy and anti-anything-other-than-the-skins bitches....pull your panties out of your ass and take a deep breath......wooooosssaaaaaaaa!!!
Haynesworth back at it again with the BS...... (poll added)
The post game press conference was cut short for Haynesworth after a short 86 seconds following his responses to questions from reporters. I have posted the transcript after the jump for those of you that aren't completely tired of this ass-clown!!!
Jackpot.....Skins claim 2007's Mr. Irrelevant.....
Skins just claimed CB Ramzee Robinson off waivers from the Browns. He was 2007 Mr. Irrelevant and has played for the Lions (drafted in 2007), He was a member of the Eagles for less than a month late last year and was claimed by the Browns the day after being waived by Philly. For his career.....he has totaled 29 tackles and a 15-yard penalty for taunting Green Bay's James Jones after an incomplete pass bringing up a fourth down....which was then a first down Packers....all during the Lions 0-16 season.
Who are our undrafted FAs?????
I am finding lists for every damned team except the Skins. I am really curious to see what they bring in here through the undrafted guys. There are still some great value guys out there even though a lot of teams have snagged some good ones. I haven't seen anything saying what we have gotten. Can anyone shed some light? Anyone have any suggestions? I am sure there will be a few lineman, safeties, and LBs.
Campbell a Raider.....
I know there are some real JC haters on here....and some real lovers (we all know who)......but I know I am sad to see Campbell leave. I know we have McNabb now....who is, in my opinion, an upgrade. The problem for me personally is, I can root for Campbell easier than McNabb. I have accepted Donovan is a Skin.......but haven't really connected to the situation.
I still don't know what we got for Campbell......all Oakland has left is a 6th and (2) 7th round picks. Hopefully we got all of them or a 3rd rounder next year. Campbell got shit on most of his time here.....by us and the Skins organization......and now we have exiled him...for at least 1 year, as an Oakland Raider! I wish JC the best of luck.....and thank him for his time. I thank him most for his professionalism and not sinking the Redskins PR lower when he maybe should have. He is prolly a better guy than me on that level. Good Luck JC!
A question for the Portis people......
So I was listening to some sports talk radio this afternoon.....and they brought up some things about Larry Johnson in KC. The thing that peaked my interest was the fact that Chiefs fans started a petition for the Chiefs to drop him so he did not break Priest Holmes all-time Chiefs record. Now.....I am not comparing any of CP's shenanigans with what Larry Johnson has been arrested/charged/accused of, but is CP the name we want at the top of our all-time rushing list? John Riggins is at 7472.......Portis is at 6597........876 yards and he is our all-time leader (per Pro-Football-Reference.com ). I am not suggesting a position on this necessarily....but want to hear some other opinions. If I had to go one way or the other.....I guess I don't really mind. In our situation....Riggins does embody what it is to be a Redskin and he is a fan favorite....but he didn't live the "cleanest" of lives. In the Chiefs situation....Holmes was never anything but a true pro....on and off the field. Because of that....I don't know that the same resentment would apply to CP here! I just know if he gets it.....it would still be hard to not think of Riggins as the better of the 2. Maybe I am alone on that.....so what do you say?
Eric Berry's path to Washington a little easier now?
Just got done reading on PFT that Eric Berry has picked Chad Speck to be his agent! At first glimpse.....this completely makes sense being that Speck's office is in Knoxville. The conspiracy theorist in me sees something else though. I am sure it is nothing....but seeing as others post much more ludicrous ideas than this....thought I would see what the consensus is!
My secondary thought into this is that, Speck also represents the biggest Redskin free agent pick up ever.....in sheer girth and contract value, Albert Haynesworth. Now this may not be a sign of anything....but seeing as how Snyder and Speck appeared to work so efficiently in getting Al's contract done....could this be a direct path to the Skins for Berry? Being as how Snyder has made Speck so much already.....may he try to steer the ship towards Berry for the Skins? I am not sure of who Suh, McCoy, Bradford, Okung, and all have picked for agents, but you would think the choice in agent would be a factor in drafting an athlete as well. Rosenhaus traditionally has a bad name....but so many players are with him....teams are forced to deal with him. Tom Condon with Caa.....I don't know much about him either but hear his name often. Do you think Berry signing with Speck could have any effect on the Skins picking at 4?
Personally....I have no clue. I would think it probably has no bearing.....but was a side of things I have given much thought to....as far as the agents effect on the draft. Maybe some of you guys have some more knowledge on the subject. I hope the Skins pick the best guy at a position of need....if that means Berry....so be it. If it means Okung or Davis.....I am fine with that too. I would prefer the trade down approach......especially at the outside chance that Davis and Okung are both available at #4......we could drop a couple spots and still snag one. Neither has jumped ahead to me. I really like Berry though (I know it isn't our most pressing need and that he is a safety), we haven't had a presence like him in our defensive backfield since ST21.....RIP!
Here's a little pick me up for you all...(my personal hell)
Okay.....so I, as most of you.....have gotten hammered with snow this week. I currently am sitting here with 40" of snow outside. I have prolly been outside shoveling at least a dozen times since Friday. I work outside....land surveyor......so....no work...which means no money. Got bored and did my taxes....I owe over $600. The one day I got mail this week...I got a letter that I need to come up with $10,0000 for a legal entanglement. On top of it all....I use a dish for tv......can't even see it on the roof.....it's completely covered with snow. So....no TV since Fri night. Missed the Caps kick the Pens ass....missed the SuperBowl. Gonna miss the Caps again tonight......not to mention....the wife and kids have all jacked my PS3. I had to walk about a 2 mile round trip in 30mph snow laden winds to get formula earlier today for the newest addition to the family. It's one of those times when you absolutely love your life....and hate it all at the same time. LOL! Sorry guys.....had to vent for a minute.....but thought maybe it would be a nice pick me up for you guys and a practice in humility for me!
Let's let this be a post to vent for everyone for everything not Redskins football.....we all get to vent about that enough!
(T) Tony Pashos from the 49ers.....a Skin????
I was perusing some sites and got linked to the "Sacramento Bee." There is a 49ers Blog Q&A section written by Matt Barrows. Essentially....he was breaking down the 49ers FAs and throwing opinions out on what he think will happen with each individual. I got to the Tony Pashos section and got very intrigued. I am not a no-it-all about evferything football.....but I feel like Pashos was a good tackle for a while......I feel like with Jacksonville? Not sure how he is now.....but wanted to see what everyone thinks of an acquisition like Pashos. Is it a move in the right direction if they pull the trigger.....or just a band-aid? I would think he has to be almost 30 or so.....seems like it would be a band-aid to me!
--OT Tony Pashos : The 49ers will sit down with Pashos' agent at the scouting combine. Pashos has said in the past that he wants to start. The 49ers, meanwhile, are expected to draft an offensive tackle this year. In addition, Pashos' long-time offensive line coach, Chris Foerster, is now in Washington and this is expected to be a weak market for all players, including offensive tackles. The Redskins need offensive linemen, they have deeper pockets than the 49ers and they have Pashos' offensive line coach. All signs point to him playing in D.C.
Ramifications of an uncapped year.....
I finally got out of the house since the new baby was born (for a reason other than work).......so me and the boys were hanging out talking some sports. We started talking about next season and the possibility of an uncapped year with no new CBA in sight. I understand the chess match going on between the owners and players union.....but I think we have all missed something. My thought process took me to the fact.....if we have an uncapped year.....how are they ever going to get it back to a salary cap system? The owners and players have to agree in principle.....which is what everyone is hung up on. What about inside the separate groups?
Let's take the easier one for right now.....the players. It is easy to see why they would not want a cap.......but I think they would be willing to go back into a capped system to protect the sport....with concessions. I feel like the vets would want to move toward a rookie pay scale so the vets can get a few more nickels at the end of their careers. Obviously.....they want more NFL shared revenue flowing to them as well. I can also partially understand this.........the NFL is a multi-billion dollar entity and is only as strong as the guys playing on the field. That being said.....these guys get paid millions to play a game.....while the real people of the world bust their ass just as hard for chump change! On the other hand.....I would do it too if I could.
Here is where my real questions come up. We go uncapped for 2010.......their are small market teams that can cut out all the big contracts bc their is no minimum team salary....just as their is no maximum. I would think teams like Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Cleveland, Carolina, etc may dump some big salaries to save some money for the upcoming year bc of the current economic mess we are in. But the big market teams....Dallas, Washington, New Yorks, Indianapolis, etc.....may exercise their right to spend big. The problem will be....the owners themselves have to come to agreement before they can ever even meet with the players. The Snyders and Jones are not going to want to go back to a capped system. It's one thing to get millionaires to come together (players).....but it is a whole other thing to get billionaires to meet in the middle. There is the potential.....this whole CBA makes the NFL more like baseball......with teams like the Yankees and Red Sox running the show simply bc nobody else can afford to keep up. This would be good for us.....the Washington Redskin's fans....as our owner has deep pockets and showed he doesn't care about money......but could also ruin competitive football as we know it today. Without the salary cap......the Saints and Cardinals could never get close to a Super Bowl. Those close games we are getting accustomed to are out the window.
All that being said......they need to come to some kind of agreement and avoid any kind of lockout. Baseball took years to recover from their lockout......and then got punched in the nuts with the steroid mess. I will always be a Skins fan.....will always be a football fan........but I don't want to see the greatest sport in the world be diminished and ruined any further by greed. Am I overthinking this?
Maybe I am behind on this one.....Malcolm Kelly can rap?
I was perusing through a well known NFL news site a few minutes ago.....apparently it's a slow news day for them.......they posted a link to a 2 year old video of Malcolm Kelly rapping after a Sooners game. Not a big rap fan......but he has skills. I was shocked! At least he is productive at something.....and if football doesn't pan out.....maybe he has something else to go to!!!! The link is below!
2010 Unrestricted Free Agents not on the OL.....
I have compiled a list of some, in my opinion, solid UFAs for this offseason. I am sure some will be resigned and some may actually be RFAs this year (I tried to sort them out), but want to get a discussion going about who has value for us on this list. I have left out OL simply for the fact.....I don't know enough about most of them and it has and will continue to be discussed at nausea.....rightfully so! Check out the list and some of my thoughts after the jump! Before I get jumped on, this is not a complete list.....just some names that stood out to me. Also.....just because I listed them....DOES NOT mean I want them. If I missed someone that has value in your opinion, add into the comments and let's talk about it!
I know it's early.....but here's to a great year of HogsHaven!!!!
I just wanted to take an opportunity to thank Kevin, Sugar, and everyone posting on the site. I joined in March after reading for a few months. This is one of the few sites I know I have to get to at some point every day. I know I have one of the scratchier temperaments on here.....it's not that I want to be a dick.....but more that I want to see people keep an open mind about things. That being said......thanks to everyone for providing me another form of enjoyment this year. I think everyone has a right to their opinion....right or wrong.....and enjoy reading all of them....whether in-line with my beliefs or not. You always think there is something that you know all you need or have looked at every angle to base your opinion on, and then someone posts something that makes you see it from another angle. What better place than HogsHaven to come to for that. Whether it is to pile on with people who share the same belief as you, get a smack in the face from someone who feels different, or defend our beloved Redskins from outsiders!
I know for everyone, this has been a tumultuous season, but if we all think "How much worse would this season have been without a place to bitch, argue, and think that you can fix the Skins"? Through one of the most horrible seasons I can remember.......HogsHaven has kept it still somewhat enjoyable for me! Again......thank you Kevin and Sugar for running this online soap opera. Thanks to everyone else for helping me make more educated and thoughtful opinions as well as an outlet to vent my frustrations! Lets all put a hand in and make this site continue to rise to be the creme-de-la-creme of Skins sites! Happy Holidays to all!

Orakpo will be going after the QB more.....
Didn't see a mention of it on here but yesterday, I was listening to the Lavar Arrington show on 106.7! They have Orakpo on the for the OrakReport. He said the team has nothing to lose and he will be in the DE position going after QB's the rest of the season. I can't even describe the evil smile that overtook my face while driving through Northern VA when I heard this news! Maybe he can make a late season push to unseat Cushing as DROY! I hope he gets the push started by putting Brees on his ass a few times!
We have a player of the week......
Hunter Smith just announced as the NFC Special Teams Player of the week. First punter to ever run and throw for a TD in the same season!!! Now we just need him to catch one! Positivity week continues!!! I would also like to see Orakpo get NFC Defensive RC of the week as well. We need to really start pushing this guy in every ballot that comes available so we can get him to pass Cushing for RC of the year! I was skeptical Orakpo was going to be a Vernon Gholston of this year's draft.....BOY WAS I WRONG! Kid is a beast and I am so happy he is a Redskin.
The future is NOW.....
Now that we are 2-6........isn't it now officially time to see what we have???? Time for the young guys to come in, get experience, and audition for next years all new staff! I wouldn't go as far as another poster commenting on another topic, and IR all the vets; but now is the time! Let's see Jarmon, Orapko (I know he is already in there), Mitchell, and so on get major increases in time! Snyder should already have started a break down of the roster.....who can/should go, who should stay. I am sure he has an idea of how to create cap space . I would be much happier watching a losing team that is training it's future out there then a team that keeps trudging along with the old guys. I would like to see everybody's ideas for the starting lineup the rest of the year! Mine is below! Let me have it, no matter what.....I am sure I am messing something up!
OFFENSE
Cartwright/Ganther
Williams/Sellers
Campbell/Woodson?
Mitchell Davis - OL is so shitty.....sub anyone in any position Thomas Kelly
Don't even know if we still have Woodson....but Campbell is good as gone....so why not if we have him! I know he sucks, but what the hell! Maybe we should play for a draft pick even though I hate the idea of packing it in halfway through the season!
DEFENSE
Basically the same.....more Wilson, and Jarmon.....maybe see Kareem Moore instead of Landry......I have no faith in Tryon and Westbrook......so....same ole shit at DB!

I got a funny feeling......
I have this funny feeling we are going to win this game! I don't even think it will be close. I think with 2 weeks, Zorn, Lewis, and Blache, have setup a can't lose gameplan against an Atlanta team, that is good, but somewhat struggling. We have a young QB we are going up against that has finally started to show some signs of struggling. They have a running back that is good, but isn't living up to the hype of last year! We have to worry about White or Jenkins getting a big play, but other than big plays.....we don't give up consistent offense. We have only allowed 9 TDs on defense......6 passing.......3 rushing! The Falcons have shown they can contend in high scoring dogfights (no pun intended), but can they win a defensive struggle against a pissed Skins team coming off a bye week? Everyone on this team has something to prove......I think maybe........just maybe.....they are going to prove it today! Maybe I am delusional, and I am sure the usual haters will come out on this one (I expect most of that to be when the game is done, if we lose)....but it's time to be positive! At least until 4!
My statlines:
Campbell: 68% 284 yds 3 TDs
Portis: 104 yds 1 TD
Fred Davis: 6 rec 71 yds 1 TD
Moss/Thomas/Kelly 9 rec 183 yds 2 TDs
Def: 3 Sacks 2 int 2 FF 1 FR
Score: 31-10 SKINS BITCHES
