CelticsBlog BBD on Varejao

I guess the title says it all, but I think  we have the solution to the Varejao conundrum that has plagued Boston in the regular season. If the ticket snub can sustain his inspiring play through to the next series with cleveland, I think Boston have a really really really good chance of beating them. Throughout the season, in the two cleveland victories, it was Varejao that was the difference between the two teams, NOT Lebron, for the king we have the Truth, Ray Ray, TA, Rondo, Garnett. And as long as we have him covered to an extent, we all know the rest of the Cavs team does not have what it takes to Beat Boston on its day. We need 3 home wins, and one on the road...this is not a pipe dream, neither is Banner 18, it is a reality. So get ready to get behind this team 1000000%, We can go all the way. I believe.. so should all the readers of this blog and the supporters of the Celts in general. Period. Point Blank.

CelticsBlog Relax

Everyone from the players down to the fans need to take a deep breath or two, and relax. By that I mean not react, or over react to a loss like sundays... I mean we have become used to a trend of the C's giving up leads, and then blowing out teams, or gritting it out... we have still won 47 games...and are on track to win 50 plus, so lets not make it a big deal.
yes we havent beaten the +500 teams consistently, but we have never gelled, injuries wise, and if you look back, most of themm have been closely contested losses, with the exception of a couple...that is to be expected from an aging team.

A couple of observations, one as mentioned on the front page today, we are not going to be using a 10-11 man rotation, Doc has been saving minutes for our stars, when it comes to play off time, they will be pushed hard.. we know that. Having said that I still think that players who o not play well on a given day should be replace with someone from the bench...for eg.. Quisy not playing well.. bring in TA or vice versa...Sheed not playing well, Big baby, SW are ready.. you know? Keep it flexible...

Another thing...Keep the TRUTH healthy....hes getting his pop back, and he can lead us through, just make sure he keeps driving in, rather than settling for shots that are not falling all the time

A note on Nate...HE NEEDS TO DRIVE...doc should let him take it to the hoop, refere to celticshub article on him being one of the leading guys who can beat almost anyone of the dribble and take it to the rim...he should draw fouls, drive the lanes, and not only be a 3 point shooter...someone please cut of the shackles..!!

I really think KG is getting more confident by the day, his movement looks way better, hes driving, running better...

Ray allen also needs to drive...hes good...enough said

So basically I am suggesting to take inside when the shots arent falling instead of hanging heads and getting discouraged and then settling for isolation plays....

What do you think? LETS GET BEHIND THIS TEAM 100% and stop speculating... this is still our year..i believe and all of us should!

CelticsBlog What I want to C-

Hullo all,

as we start our 6 game homestand, i am of the opinion that this is the most crucial stage of our season, seeing how things have gone this year. The celtics are rounding things of nicely, and gelling together, this was eveident in the roadtrip. What the Utah loss emphasised was that there are still a few chinks in the armor, that need to be ironed out, but on the whole it was no biggie. 48 minutes is what we have struggled for, and come play offs with so much at stake i dont think that is going to be an isse- given that we prepare ourselves well these next 15 games.

Some observations:

First, the bench is starting to come together, nate needs to play off the pick and rolls more, he almost needs to play like a 2 while still bringing up the ball, TA and quisy can help with switching duties. Finely is a gem.

Big baby is regaining his intensity, if he plays like he did last playoffs, we dont even need him to score, just contest the boards, and get fouled, and pick up a few charges on the way.

the Truth, needs to decide if hes hot or not on any given day, not force it, if his shots are not dropping, he should just drive, everytime, drive, and force double teams...he is still a legit threat.

the rest know their roles pretty well, and just gotta keep doing what they are, maybe kg needs to be in the post a bit more, sheed def needs to be planted in the post.

Shelden needs to get a go...hes got the rebouding and post ability...i think he can be really solid.

Oh and my last thought, share minutes between quisy and TA, TA is better defender, faster slasher but quisy can slash pretty good too, so Doc needs to utilise this to the max...

We get all of this together, and #18 is a sure thing. Im excited...hope all of you are with me...! LETS GO GREEN!

Ps: we should push to win all 8 at home, practice makes perfect, that way when playoffs come, the garden is going to be an impregnable fortress, and we only need to win 1 on the road to win any series. Starting tonight! lets make mince meat out of mello and the nuggets....we gotta believe, this team is golden (and green) and this is our year. Champions '09-'10.

PAUL PIERCE...THE TRUTH....hes back...hes healthy, seems like Doc knew what he was talking about all along....just hope they can stay healthy....!!!!!!! Who loved the poetry in motion tonight? even when they made a run at us, the celtics of 2-3 weeks ago would have dropped their heads...BUT....it was beautiful to see, every single piece in motion...i was really impressed...i hope all of you were tooo....lets keep our support going strong for these guys, they are giving their everything!!!

by the way  we need to get nate involved somemore!! dont you think??/ he needs to be driving to the hoop and not jsut developing into a 3 point threat! cuz he can be lethal if he pushes the pedal....

CelticsBlog To all the peeps who Booed

Thanks for booing, that might have been a wake up call...a needed one. BUT NO THANKS for not believing, every team has its ups and downs, and granted we haven't looked the part since the first 28 games, but one thing i do believe in is Ray allen, KG, PP, Rondo, Perk,Nate, Sheed, Quisy, TA, SW, Finley Big baby...we still have a championship team. I dont care if they hobble into the playoffs, us as True fans should not give up on the team. Especially now, when they need us more than ever. they need to refocus and know that we will be supporting them, the fans are the sixth man sometimes..I have a suggestion, maybe Doc should run through the videos of the team back in 08, show these players what they are capable of. We need to provide this team with inspiration, motivation and confidence. We KNOW they can do it, just gotta channel the energy the right way. Heres to #18. whos with us?

CelticsBlog No way but UP!

Dear Celtics fans,

This is a universal appeal to all those who are ready to still stand by  this team. I write this after the nets game...and I am sure all of you agree that this is the lowest point of the last 3 years...HOWEVER, this is what championship teams are made off...when there is no where else to go, they fight back, and I for one, believe that we have all the pieces to get back the prize this year. Instead of blaming the coaches, the players are taking it on themselves, I know they have been saying they have to focus, etc. etc. and I know we are all tired of hearing the same excuses. But KG guaranteed us a championship this year...I really believe given (his knee holds up) the kind of player he is, he is the perfect source, or catalyst to wake our guys up. We have 25 games or so to go...even if we stumble into the playoffs, once we get into the rhythm of playing one team over a 7 game stretch we can work out a strategy just specifically for that team and excel. As true celtic fans all we can do is make them believe that we still believe in them, is what I am saying. We may all be cringing with fear and disgust after yesterdays game, but its not over. Most of our veteran core has been in the league for so long, and are proven winners, KG needs to bring back his dominance in the post, driving and dunking, Ray is slowly regaining his shot, he'll be there when we need him. Sheed just needs to play post ALL the time..he is still unstoppable down there, Rondo...is a magician, he just needs adequate rest and recharge time during games, also we shouldnt just depend on him for all the offense, especially since we have the Truth, who when healthy, I hope will be the greatest player he claims to be. Our new acquisition, Mr. Robinson can help out a lot, just need to integrate him quick. Quis is 100% reliable...T.A just needs to maintain his focus, someone needs to be on his case just keeping him 100% there all the time...even when he is on the bench, Shelden Williams needs to be played, he can easily be our P.J this year...just play him, give him some time and confidence!! Perk coached by garnett, is going to be there, most of the time, just get him the easy shots!

I still believe this team can be galvanized into action...slow and steady wins the race...so as long as the spirit comes back, we still got it. All fans who believe in this should sign up and comment on this post, with the most positive attitude they can contribute, so that Jeff can collect all of our posts dripping with belief and somehow convey it/ get it, to the team (as one of the most popular celtics bloggers, I am sure you can manage something!!), from the fans who really believe in the team that CAN. LETS GO NUMBER 18!

CelticsBlog Question- Posey?

Is getting James Posey back in the fold an option or a possibility ? that would ensure we had a TIGHT bench, and with a lil bit more rest and recuperation, and good health, and some free throw pratice, we will be right back in it!! Todays game was scary to watch,, some one please tell me garnett is gonna be ok?!!! I dont care if we rest him till the playoffs and only win 48 games or something...and come in 5-6 in the east, as long as the 3 are FULLY healthy!

CelticsBlog We can do this! I believe!

"No pressure..Just gotta play with what you got, its still the same game" Big Baby. This for me embodies the spirit of a celtic. Most of us seem to have forgotten that we are defending champs, and yes, while we should not be overly unrealistic about our chances, there is still room for belief and raw courage.

A line up that includes Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Rondo, with an emerging power forward in Big Baby and a solid centre in Perk, should still inspire most celtics fans. Take a step back and look at the big picture. Our reserves who have been under-performing, just need to get into the groove of the play-offs. Marbury has a point to proove, and so does Miki Moore. Maybe Starting out with Miki and Perk as 5 and 4 respectively would give the lanky centre some confidence and give us some early height advantage, stopping drives and blocking shots in the lane. Disrupting a teams motion offence and easy 'in the paint' points early on can cause doubts in the mind of the players. Celtics still have the resources to pull this off, we still have excellent and proven shooters in our ranks. One look at how Ray Allen tirelessly carried the Sonics and then the Bucks offensively shows how dominant he can be. Together with the truth, they can take over a game. (Refer to game 4 in LA last year) Tony Allen, Scal, Marbury, Eddie Money are all vital to our push to get to the finals again. Yes, Cleveland, Orlando probably stand in our way, but with a good rotation and a confidence boost through dealing with a sprightly, young and determined Bulls can still take this team a long way.

Bill walker can provide a spurt of offence, so can House, Tony allen can be used a situational stopper and someone who attracts fouls at a rate higher than kobe...we can still do this..just gotta believe and trust in all the systems that worked for us last year. Plus having KG on the bench in itself should inspire confidence, the team should do it for him, and who knows...if we last long enough there might be a few minutes left in those knees..if not his support is more than enough...So lets go C's 2009 is ours for the taking, one game at a time, right to the top.

PS: Winning this year will almost 'guarantee' us a three-peat with a Healthy and HUNGRY garnett next year..unstoppable. This is what eras and legends are made up off, so as fans of this team we must show them the fervour and support they need..no room for any doubt...cuz there isn't any. This is where amazing happens!

CelticsBlog The last stretch!

Faced with yet another loss at home, The C's are looking shakier than ever before, but one must remember that the loss of KG is great. Having said that, Paul pierce and Ray-Ray both need some time off. I think  we have a natural attacker in the form of Bill walker, and if he gets introduced and gets even a solid ten minutes, we could form a solid second unit with marbury, house, moore and walker. We are alredy getting significant contributions from Powe and Big Baby. A good rotation and some rest for our superstars might just be what the doctor ordered for a fresh playoff start!
