NIKE TRUE COLORS (SYRACUSE) DESTROYER

ONLY $200

LINK TO NIKE STORE

From Nike:
Origins
Back in 2006, Nike designers began a mission to re-craft iconic sports apparel in the most technical materials they could find. The ubiquitous American varsity jacket was an obvious choice for the experiment that would become Nike Sportswear. Raiding the All Conditions Gear (ACG) innovation cache, they found fabrics, laminates, and bonding methods that could brave nasty weather but still look fresh.

The first Nike letterman's jacket was for an imaginary team called the Dunk High Destroyers, and limited numbers were produced. The next version got even more technical, but the Destroyer name stuck.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Syracuse Athletics: An Alternate Uni-verse

We are now hours away from watching the Syracuse Orange take the court against the South Florida Bulls when they don their Nike Hyper Elite Platinum uniforms for one game only.

6760716703_11c64caba5_o_medium

UConn & Florida both lost in their platinums while Kentucky & Duke won. Arizona & UNC still have games scheduled to wear them.

The anticipation of these one-time alternates got me thinking/scared having remembered the last time we wore alternates in basketball, I then started to investigate some other sports as well. Here is what I've come up with:

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Syracuse on SUnday (Conference Championships)

As mentioned before: NFL Playoffs - Who are we rooting for?

Only the Ravens & Giants had links to the Orange.

As pointed out last week by Lots of Pulp New England Patriots coach Matt Patricia (who is listed on the team's website as the Safties coach) was a graduate assistant at Syracuse from 2001-2003.

Jameel McClain (Baltimore Ravens) – 2 tackles in loss @ New England

Arthur Jones (Baltimore Ravens) – 1 tackle in loss @ New England

Tom Coughlin (New York Giants) - The Giants ran 90 plays (58 pass/26 run) for 352 total yards in an OT win @ San Francisco. Coughlin was 1/1 on coaches challenges which included a costly turnover by the 49ers. The Giants will now travel to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI & a rematch of Super Bowl XLII which was highlighted by former Orange WR David Tyree.

300h_medium

With Tom Coughlin left as the only SU alum taking part in the Super Bowl (kind of) we all become de facto Giants fans, so let's go G-men!

Ap-201201222217802545304_medium

Lets also not forget the Patriots were responsible for ending the Dick MacPherson era at Syracuse when he left to become the coach in 1991.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Syracuse on SUnday (Divisional Round)

As mentioned before: NFL Playoffs - Who are we rooting for?

Only the Ravens & Giants remain with links to the Orange.

Jameel McClain (Baltimore Ravens) – 2 solo tackles in win vs. Houston

Arthur Jones (Baltimore Ravens) – No recorded stats in win vs. Houston

The Ravens will travel North to Foxboro to battle the #1 seeded New England Patriots for the AFC title Sunday @ 3PM.

Tom Coughlin (New York Giants) - The Giants ran 61 plays (33 pass/27 run) for 420 total yards in a win @ Green Bay. Coughlin was 0/1 on coaches challenges when the referee's incorrectly ruled Greg Jennings down by contact & somehow upheld the call. The Giants travel to San Francisco to battle the 49ers Sunday @ 6:30PM for the NFC title & a trip to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI.

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Syracuse on SUnday: NFL Playoffs - Who Are We Rooting For?

With 17 weeks in the books, the time has come for NFL Playoffs & Wild Card Weekend. With the understanding that a good majority of Syracuse fans are also Buffalo Bills fans than most of you are left wondering, " Who do I want to win the Super Bowl?" So if you're not a Bills fan & you're favorite team isn't still playing here's what Syracuse fans have to consider:

AFC-

Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens currently employ 2 former Orange on their roster, Jameel McClain & Arthur Jones. The Ravens are the #2 seed in the AFC & will welcome the highest remaining seed to Baltimore next Sunday, Jan. 15 @ 1PM on CBS.

Jameel McClain is in his 4th season with the Ravens & put up some of the best #s of any SU player in the NFL this season. He started all 16 games for Baltimore & ended the regular season with 84 tackles (50 solo), 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception, 5 pass-deflections, & 2 stuffs. Only Ray Lewis had more tackles for the Ravens.

Images_medium Images_medium

Arthur Jones is only in his 2nd season with the Ravens but played in 14 games including 1 start. He ends the regular season with 20 tackles (14 solo).

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician NBA Orange (Dec. 25-Dec. 31)

This NBA season almost didn't happen, but now that they've taken the court it's a little dissapointing how the former Syracuse guys are doing after 7 days this season. As we know Andy Rautins was a trade casualty & is now overseas, Etan Thomas got more face-time standing behind Derek Fisher during all the press conferences than he did in his entire NBA career yet no one has signed the former block king (all hail Fab Melo).

  • Carmelo Anthony - New York Knicks
  • Jonny Flynn - Houston Rockets
  • Donté Greene - Sacramento Kings
  • Wesley Johnson - Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Hakim Warrick - Phoenix Suns

---

I_medium

So far this season, Carmelo Anthony has had the most success, he's currently #6 in the league in scoring with 25.0 ppg to go along with 3.5 assists/game & 6 rebounds/game in 34.5 minutes/game. He started the season on the right note Sunday (Christmas day) with 37 points to beat Boston.

Ap-201112251509545924141_medium

---

I_medium

Jonny Flynn has played in 2 game out of 4 for the Rockets (2-2) including Thursay (12/29) when he had 2 assists & 2 turnovers in 8:06 vs. San Antonio. [Flynn now wears #9] Friday (12/30) Flynn played 19:54 minutes scoring 8 pts (3/7 FGs, 1/4 3PTs, 1/2 FTs), 4 assists, 2 turnovers & 1 rebound.

Ap-201112292133775840868_medium

I_medium

Before Saturday's (12/31) 12 minute-10 point outburst (3/7 FGs, 2/4 3PTs, 2/4 FTs) vs. New York, Donté Greene had only got into 2 other games. He played just 30 seconds vs, LA Lakers on Monday (12/26), DNP (Coach's Decision) vs. Portland Tuesday (12/27) & on Thursday (12/29) just 25 seconds vs. Chicago but somehow managed to score 2 points & he even got his picture taken (#20):

Ap-201112292215801191043_medium

---

I_medium

Wes Johnson has started all 3 games for the T-wolves (0-3) but he's averaging just over 24 min, 6.3 pts, 2.3 rebounds & 1.3 assists. Here he is throwing down a dunk against Milwaukee on Tuesday (12/27).

Ap-201112272035741437351_medium

---

I_medium

Despite not playing in the season opener Monday (12/26) vs. New Orleans, Hak has gotten significant playing time for the Suns (1-3). In the 3 games played Warrick's averaging 27.0 min, 15.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.3 assists & 0.7 blocks.

Ap-201112312153788256101_medium

---

On a side note, Paul Harris (Maine Red Claws) & Eric Devendorf (Idaho Stampede) continue to play well in the NBA Development League

Act_eric_devendorf_medium Act_paul_harris_medium.

Hopefully 2012 bring better success for the Orange in the NBA.

Happy New Year!

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Why the ACC should add Villanova

Hear me out here, there's been talk for a while about the ACC eventually expanding to 16 teams, UConn & Rutgers want to be those teams but there are rumors that the ACC is holding out for Notre Dame which will never happen.

Images_medium

Rutgers has only had one good football season (ever) & brings nothing to the table besides a dot on the map along the East Coast. UConn seems to be black-balled by Boston College who is still holding a grudge. On paper UConn brought more to the table after last season than Pitt or Syracuse. They were in a BCS bowl game, won the men's bball national title & have had 4 losses in like 6 years in arguably the best women's basketball program all-time. I'm hoping they get into the ACC simply because I live in CT & want to be able to see Syracuse in person as much as possible.

Villanova_medium

Here's why Villanova makes sense (to me anyways) they fit in geographically & give you the Philadelphia TV market and the fair-weather-phiilly-fans that don't really care about college sports but will rally around whoever seems to be doing better (i.e. St. Joe's in 2004). They seem to want to make the jump to play football, but no one has really talked about them since SU & Pitt put in their 2 week 2 year notice. At this rate they should be able to start playing football by the time we get to the ACC. They pose no threat on the football field & Duke will get excited about possibly not finishing last in football. Even though Nova seems to be down this year, it takes Basketball off the charts (esp. if UConn comes too - I think that would put Dicky V in his grave).

Jay_20wright_ashx_medium

They play baseball like everyone else in the ACC (except Syracuse - yet) & they've got a lacrosse team which will help to expand the ACC to 6 teams (SU, Duke, UNC, MD & VA) [Pitt, NC St, BC & FSU all rumored potential jumps to D1 LAX but face Title IX issues]. Also there probably won't be any academic concerns with Nova like there allegedly were with West Virginia who was already a football rival with MD, Pitt & SU & were perfect geographic fit while offering solid football & bball.

Acc-map_medium

via collegesportsinfo.com

We can all agree that the Big East has turned into the joke of college sports especially adding SDSU & Boise St. the fact that they are rumored to be joining THE BIG WEST for all other sports says it all.

Now we can just hope we get out sooner than later so we can put a stop to UVA, Va. Tech, Miami & Clemson from wearing orange uniforms.

I live in CT & we got rocked by snow on Saturday, 70% of the state is without power due downed trees & it's f-in cold, I've got tickets to the SU UConn game on Saturday but I can't help to think they won't play the game if there's no power at the stadium. Don't know of there's anything on the Internet about it yet...

The Indianapolis Colts seem to love former Syracuse players.

Colts signed G/T Quinn Ojinnaka.
Ojinnaka has starting experience and can play both guard and tackle. He's a better pass protector than run blocker, something the Colts need after Curtis Painter's time evaporated late in Monday night's loss to the Bucs. Oct 5 - 11:57 AM
