He thinks length is the best way to bother Derrick.

CHICAGO: F-minus-minus
Oklahoma City made the same mistake last year: Why throw away a playoff run because you're fixated on being young, developing at your own pace, coming together … jeez, when you're ready, you're ready. The Bulls have one of the league's best creators, they're one of the league's best defensive teams, they have one of the league's smartest coaches, they can protect the boards. … What am I missing? They couldn't go to war with Miami and Boston right now? How could they not try to improve the Kyle Korver-Keith Bogans-Ronnie Brewer situation? When they flipped James Johnson for a future first-round pick, I thought for sure they were going after Shane Battier or O.J. Mayo with multiple picks. … Nope. Hell, Tony Allen would help them more than Bogans or Brewer. Meanwhile …

Blog a Bull League Pass 7

So I signed up for the cheap version of league pass broadband this year, and it forces you to pick 7 teams whose games you can follow through out the regular system.   I think I have to decide before I can launch it.

It poses an interesting conundrum.  I know I'll be selecting the Bulls, but what about the other 6.? Do I pick teams that I think will be fun to watch?  Do I pick teams that I anticipate the Bulls will be fighting with for seeding late in the season? Do I pick the teams that I think will do the best?  Should I pick teams that have former Bulls I'm still invested in (even if their terrible)?

It probably doesn't matter too much, I really just bought it for the Bulls.

Any one else buy this package?  What are your 7 teams? Even if you aren't buying the package if you did what would they be?

Here are mine:

[I'm not even considering the Celtics because i'm in their viewing area]

1.) Bulls (obviously)

2.) Miami - they'll either play really great basketball I won't want to miss or at the very least it should be fun tuning in and rooting against them.

3.) OKC - Really good and they play a fun brand of basketball.

4.) L.A. Clippers - They have a bunch of young players and they might really improve this year.  The Blake Griffin ROY chase should be worth the price of admission.  Vinny could prove that having next to no coach is a significant upgrade on Dunleavy.  Plus I want to make sure I have a few West Coast teams in case I want to catch a game after the Bulls game ends.

5.) Bucks - Decent chance Bulls will be fighting with them for playoff seeding at the end of the season which will make their gamers extra interesting.  There is always the chance Jennings will make the jump.

6.) Houston - They've got a lot of talent and I'm hoping Morey swings a sweet deal to make the team more interesting before the deadline.  Besides, I need to get my Bradass fix.

7.) Bullets - Wall, Arenas and the Captain.  It will be fun watching Wall develop.

Some teams I had a hard time leaving off:

Lakers - I'm counting on them being all over ESPN and TNT being defending champs and all

Bobcats - I always like checking in on TT and the Bulls had a pretty good seeding fight with them last year... but I think they lost too much this off season and will fall off.

Suns - Nash and a bunch of SF might be interesting but they could also be so bad that they are boring.

David Aldridge with some more details on Rudy (about 3/4 of the way down). Apparently he vetoed a trade to New Orleans. Otherwise same old same old.

Two teams have 23 retired.

Chicago and Miami.

Both have the cash for a max free agent...

"Joe (LA)

do you think Hinrich will end up in a LAkers uniform before the trade dealine ?

Chad Ford (1:31 PM)

I like it for both teams. Some sort of combo of Adam Morrison and Derrick Fisher for Hinrich would help both teams -- Lakers now and Bulls this summer.

From the Sun Times via True Hoop:

John Jackson of the Chicago Sun-Times: "When Derrick Rose left the court and headed to the Bulls' locker room midway through the first quarter of Tuesday night's 96-87 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, he was holding his right side and had the pained look of someone who wouldn't return. But when Rose came back early in the second quarter, he appeared perfectly fine and didn't seem to be hampered by the strained muscle in his right side. After practice Wednesday at the Berto Center, Rose revealed that he received two injections for the pain during his visit to the locker room. 'I didn't want to get them,' said Rose, who has been known to be fearful of needles. 'They had to put an ice pack on my back and freeze and numb my skin. And I still felt it. They lied and told me I was only going to get one, but I felt two pinches.' Rose said assistant Randy Brown convinced him to get the injections. 'He told me one of his sob vet stories about how he had to get at least 100 shots like that during his NBA career,' Rose said. 'So I was like, 'I can get one.' 'In his face, he was looking sincere. I think he was telling the truth. But I gotta go back and ask who the trainers were back then.' "

"Deng succeeded one of America's greatest-ever sportsmen, Michael Jordan, to become "the face" of the Chicago Bulls. He was one of the first sportsmen to be invited to the White House by President Obama, a huge Bulls fan. And last summer, he signed an improved six-year contract with the Bulls worth $71m (£43m) – compare that with Beckham's five-year starting salary at the LA Galaxy of $27m. Deng also received the United Nations Refugee Agency's humanitarian award – and Obama led the tributes."

[Here's some video of Luol as well -ed.]

"The 24-year-old, who has been sidelined with a stress fracture to his right leg since February, said his rehabilitation has gone well and everything is on track for a return to action."

Better than bad news.

When the media guide for the No Balls Association is released, I demand that John Paxson appears on the cover. At some point, you have to roll the dice, right? Not landing Gasol was inexcusable; the Bulls could have made the Finals with him (and if it meant sacrificing Luol Deng, Ty Thomas and the Knicks' pick, so be it). Instead, they did nothing ... which means they overpaid Ben Wallace when they already had a younger version of him for two-thirds the money (Tyson Chandler), gave away Chandler AND J.R. Smith for an expiring contract (P.J. Brown) because they wanted a trading piece for the deadline, then never ended up making a freaking trade.

I mean ...

Where does that rank among the most bizarre/inexplicable/head-scratching game plans in recent NBA history? Near the top, right? And if that's not bad enough, Paxson should have sold high on the Knicks' pick in December -- once the Celtics, Bucks, Hawks and Nets started getting crushed by injuries and the Iverson/Philly situation fell apart, everyone and their brother could see a 35-win season for the Knicks coming. What was the purpose of holding on to that pick? Are we even sure Paxson is alive? Has anyone seen him in the past three months? If he's missing or dead, I apologize for the last three paragraphs."

Can Paxson be fired yesterday?

"Aaron Gray, Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas, Andres Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas and Cedric Simmons waged a three-on-three game." Tyrus is so good the only way to wage a fair three on three is to have him on both teams. He is going to rock the rest of the season. You heard it here first.

"Jay (Chicago): Drew Gooden starting? Are you not sold with Joakim Noah's offseason?

David Thorpe: He got hurt in Vegas. Not sure of the details."

Anybody hear anything else on this?
