Raul: Barcelona & Real Madrid would dominate in EPL
I would argue that he's wrong. My points:
1) Both teams would be forced into the EPL shared tv revenue deal, reducing their big warchests.
2) Many of the types of diving found in LaLiga (or as LaLiga fans would call it, "art") would not pass muster in the current EPL officiating environment. Particularly because of the reputation for diving, both teams would be under careful scrutiny.
3) The EPL from top to bottom is filled with physical teams. Having Barcelona and RM deal with an upshot in injuries would be an interesting challenge to observe. They'd also experience and increase in fatigue.
In my opinion both teams would be heavy title challengers, favorites even. But I seriously doubt that they would dominate the EPL the same way they do in LaLiga with massive unassailable leads, as Raul claims. I'll also note that Raul has never spent a season in the EPL so he's more or less talking out of his arse. But there you have it.

(From FootballFancast.com: A beer bottle was thrown onto the pitch on Sunday and Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny picked it up and started drinking it! What a man...)
I want a Barca fan view of Cesc Fabregas' loyalty.
Hello there. Over in the The Short Fuse (SBN's Arsenal Blog), there is a ongoing argument. It started with the question of whether Cesc Fabregas could be considered disloyal when he left Arsenal for Barcelona. We've been there you've been there, that's not where I'm trying to go.
Where I AM trying to go with this is that there was one poster (only ONE, mind you, in case you're thinking we're a bunch of Cesc haters) who claimed that Cesc Fabregas said on an Barca TV interview that he was primarily interested in joining Barcelona for the trophies (rather than his more commonly stated reason of being a Barca lifer). Several of us asked him for a source of proof, but he failed to provide one and simply said that it was a Catalan interview that none of us would understand. I asked him for proof anyway, and again he did not respond. He went on to say there were "many" Barcelona fans who consider Cesc Fabregas to be a glory hunter.
What I want to know from Barca fans is this: Are there questions about Fabregas's loyalty to Barcelona? Have you guys ever heard (even if it's just in a rumor mill) that Cesc provided an interview in which he said he was mostly in it for the trophies? Is there a significant group of Barcelona fans who consider Cesc to be a glory hunter? Please be truthful (as I know you will be).
Thanks you for your time. I'm getting the feeling this poster was just making stuff up, but I can only feel comfortable if I hear it from a more reliable source.

Injury update: Andre Santos returns, Arteta on schedule for the weekend
According to physioroom Santos is now just about healthy again. I doubt he will see playing time against Newcastle but it's great news that our depth is coming back.
Arsenal Report Player analysis: The curious and inconsistent case of Theo James Walcott
A very good read on Theo Walcott. It analyzes his play and what might be done to help him.
Some of the things will be familiar to TSF regulars who have participated in our impromptu Walcott discussions, but some things will be new as well.

An interesting little read on Arsenal's backroom politics, as well as the importance of Champions League money to our transfer chest.
Keep in mind it's an opinion article. But I have great respect for the author (Ix Techau).

Arsenal No.7 most valuable sports team in the world in Forbes 2011
...and 3rd most valuable football team in the world, behind ManU (1st) and Real Madrid (5th).
Clint Dempsey to be up for grabs?
Obviously there's very little here but if Dempsey wants actual playing time in the Champions League there's not many EPL clubs he could pick from. I would think Arsenal would be one of those, with our crap frontline second strings. The man is on fire.
Gibbs injury setback. Time to buy another LB.
sigh. Hello transfer window.

If FC Basel are removed from the competition, Scum United will be back in the tournament. Unbelievable.
