Pats Pulpit 2010 draft question

What are the strengths and weakness of the upcoming draft? I've heard repeatedly that the 2010 draft class is "deep" and i was wondering what that meant exactly. The pats have four picks in the first two rounds and that should help a fill some of the many holes. You can't expect those second round picks to make an immediate impact however- just look at our 2009 second rounders. For that reason, the 2010 season might be another rebuilding year... Unless Belichick signs a couple high profile free agents or uses picks for trades like he did in '07.

We might be looking at 2011 before the pats reestablish themselves as elite and that should be in time to give brady a couple more shots to join montana and bradshaw in the exclusive and aptly named Quarterbacks With 4 Super Bowl Victories Club

Pats Pulpit ?

i think tom brady is the greatest qb of all time. but is it a legitimate criticism that he performs poorly under pressure compared to other franchise qbs? we could point to the giants eagles and ravens games in 07 or the jets game in 09 i know this is blasphemy, but what if ruthlessburger was our qb in the 07 super bowl? i think he would've dealt with the pressure better. can we expect brady to confront a big-time defense and thrive? i'm not so sure

Pats Pulpit it would be farveesque

but don't you think it would make a lot of sense for bruschi to come back. we are extremely thin at linebacker. who is the other starting ilb beside guyton. i think we are gonna have to bring someone to plug the dam.

another question- who will be released so that brandon tate can get a roster spot

Pats Pulpit Mayo

Lots of fans and sportswriters think the pats are going to play a lot more 4-3 than 3-4 defense this coming season- the hefty price paid for burgess supports this opinion. Some have attributed this to the fact that jerod mayo is going to have a much more prominent place in our defense. Do you guys (and gals) concur with this opinion? that this defense will revolve around mayo

I was wondering what are the specific responsibities of a  4-3 middle linebacker.  is this position primarily concerned with defending against the run? who are a couple of the best at this postion over the last few years.

thanks

Pats Pulpit No Pats dvds

It seems just about every Super Bowl winning team of the last ten years have had their post-season victories releaseed on dvd- the original televisiion broadcasts not that nfl network stuff.

The exception, of course, is the Patriots. Does anybody know what the deal is on this?

I don't want to watch the steeleroids and the womannings.

Do you all have your 50th anniversary jerseys yet? Do you all have your 50th anniversary jerseys yet?

Pats Pulpit worst trades ever

1) the herschel walker trade

2) the ditka ricky williams trade

3) cutler for  orton and 2 first round picks - this is unbeleivable

cutler sucks. who wants a gunslinger. you want a ball-controller or  an all-time great

Pats Pulpit super bowl 42

I ordered the dvd set of the giants playoff run. I think strahan's commentary will be interesting to listen to. Has anyone else managed to watch the super bowl loss yet? I actually have recurring nightmares of "the grasp" and then "the catch".

These last few seasons have been increasingly heart breaking with the loss in the afc championship, the upset to ruin the undefeated season and then losing tom terrific and missing the playoffs with 11 wins... but i guess we still have it better than bills fans in the early 1990's (or at anytime really)

Pats Pulpit what do you think will happen with cassel

i was searching other nfl team blogs and it seems like the vikings fans would love to snatch up cassel and i think he would fit there... where else do you think he could end up? i think pioli would not want to take him because he'd never hear the end of it if things didnt work out. bears fans didnt seem overly eager

i've heard lots of talk that he is simply a one-year-wonder and that you'd have to be batty to risk taking him - but you run an even greater with an untested drafted qb, right?

also, i was wondering what you think we can get for him. our d-line is solid and the lbs bruschi guyton adalius vrabel and mayo are all right too i think.

so if we draft a cb we can use dealing cassel to further bolster our secondary then things will be looking up

the other issue i was wondering about was the franchise issue... if we franchise him for 15 million will that count against the cap of the team we trade him to or can they readjust that money into a multiyear deal and spread it out... could we sign him to a three year deal (in cooperation with the team we trade him to) and then deal him

at any rate, i think there should be a speculative thread opened up about cassels future
