Being a native of San Francisco most people find it odd that I'm an Indians fan. I had an uncle, Jake Ward, who played for the Indians organization back in the 40's. I'm not sure how much playing time he saw, but I do know that he was an outfielder and that he started out playing for the San Francisco Seals before going to the Indians. That being said I didn't really become a Tribe fanatic until a good friend of mine who was from Cleveland, passed away. When Mike died I wanted to do something to carry on his memory in my life. With this in mind, I made the Tribe my team. I still live in the Bay Area, but I consider myself a Clevelander of sorts by proxy. I cannot begin to describe how much happiness being an Indians fan has brought to my life, especially in light of how miserable the Giants have been. It does kinda suck that both of my teams hold the 2nd and 3rd longest streaks in baseball without a world ttile, but with the team the Tribe has, I'm confident that this will change soon, at least in Cleveland. San Francisco? That's a different story.
