Felix's Wedding Gift To My Brother

My brother's future father-in-law gifted us two tickets to see King Felix tonight. He couldn't have known in advance that we would be able to see Felix vs. Santana. He also couldn't have known that my brother is one of those choice few early Felix fans with the original #59 jersey.

So there we were, in the loge directly behind home plate, surrounded by Mets fans, fielding questions about this awesome young pitcher from the American league. Little did they or we know exactly how awesome he is. That is, until he cleared the bases with an opposite field home run.

We made the community proud as we stood and clapped and cheered our asses off. More than one classless Mets fan told us to "sit down assholes." Appropriate.

Effing Mets fans cheered when Felix got hurt, but cheered even louder when he walked off the field. We didn't hear any obscenities as we left Shea, just a lot of admiration for the pitcher who out-pitched Santana until he got hurt and out hit everyone for the entire game.

On the week my bro gets married we got to see King Felix pitch beautifully for a few precious innings and make history by hitting a grand slam off of one Johan Santana. In a season like this, it does not get any better.

Thank you Frank and thank you Felix.

From ESPN's Page 2, comes this column from "Art Garfamundis":

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=garfamudis/080305

I certainly appreciate the satirical point Page 2 makes, but is this the best they could do?

At least this line was funny, kind of:

"If you can't tell how good a player is from basic stats, maybe Timothy Leary was your family doctor, or maybe it's just that you don't know very much about baseball."
