Hogs Haven The scariest part of this team...

IS THE DEFENSE!  As many others have posted about ranks and stats, the d is 5th so far overall.  The scary thing though is that this defense will get so much better through the year as everyone gets a better feel for each other and the secondary gel more.  Josh Wilson is a beast, I love him so far, DeAngelo is kind of frustrating, I'm still waiting for him to get out of the gates, but hey he is still a very dangerous CB.  Laron is Laron, a man hunter who knock your as out, when he's not responsible for the entire field, he is so much fun to watch.  And now with a good FS roaming back there, we can take a sigh of relief.  Honestly, IMO Barry Coefield may be the best thing that could have happened to this defense, when I watch him he's not just taking on double teams, he's pushing them back and working moves and just being a stud, and what can you say about Ryan Kerrigan, this kid is miles ahead of what I hoped he would be.  I'm super excited to see how much better they can get.  I know it's only the 1st quarter of the season, but even if we don't do so well the rest of the season, at least we can go back to boasting about having a top flight D.

Hogs Haven A little pregame fun

If this video doesn't make your insides feel warm and happy, something is wrong with you.  I watched this game with my dad, and I don't ever remember being as happy as I was that day.  One of the best games I had ever watched, plus It was when I was young so it helped me love this team even more and hate the Cowgirls even more.

Hogs Haven Jimmy Clausen?

I really have no idea what the Panthers plan on doing with Jimmy Clausen, but after tonight's events it seems as though he is not in there long term plans.  I personally would be happy if the Skins managed to get him because he can't be worse than Rex or John Beck could he?  I can't judge him based on last year because that was a case where anyone would fail.  Seeing as we probably won't be getting Andrew Luck and I don't really know who else is in next year's QB class, I think Jimmy would be a good backup or if we get a QB next year then he could compete for the job.  I don't really care if they don't even try, but I think it could be a good move.  I'm not saying he is the QB of the future or anything, just an option.  What do you all think?

Hogs Haven Please Gano, for us fans

As my past posts have very blatantly shown that i hate Graham Gano because 1) some of his missed kicks could have really really helped in getting a few more victories, and 2) he is a Seminole,  I have seen how dedicated he seems to be at getting better and how upset he is over missing all those critical, and pretty easy (by NFL standards) kicks.  Now I will never say that I love a Seminole, but I will accept him if he can get his shit together.  Redskins site even has a story about how he is focused on getting better, and he better be cuz his coach has gone full out and backed his ass, so if Shanahan has that much faith that he can get better than I will follow his words and hope with him, because the last thing we all need is another season like he had this year, all those gut wrenching misses that could have changed entire games.  I would enjoy not having to worry about the kicker missing chip shot field goals.  Now obviously they should be trying out other kickers and long snappers for that matter, but I won't be sad to see Gano back next year knowing (or at least thinking that I know) he worked his ass off to get that number of misses down.  It would be a different story if he missed 11 FGs from 40-45+ yards, but a few of them were well under that.  So for us fans, may Gano get his ass in gear and make those easy ones.  Even though my opinion won't effect anything that this organization does, I hope Gano comes back for next season just so we can see if he has fixed his shit.  Why can't we just get another Mark Moseley.

Hogs Haven Graham Ga-nogood

WHY IS HE IN THE NFL??!?!?!?!?!!?!  First of all he is from Florida State, so that should show us how clutch he is, second he is a pile of shit, third he is his pile of shit's pile of shit, and fourth he's just terrible.  Sure it was rainy today, but he is an NFL kicker and they were under 35 yard kicks.  If Shanahan's pride is too much that he won't see we need a new kicker, than I think that will be my last straw with liking this man.  I blame this loss on him because he can't do his only job right.  The extra point was by no means his fault, but if he could make a  damn kick that missed XP would mean nothing.  It wasn't even that he wasn't clutch today, he was just terrible. How many more terrible kickers do we have to go through before we can actually find one that can make one from 25 yards.  I've seen enough from just Shaun Suisham and the fuckin POS we have now.  Now you might say blaming the loss on a kicker isn't fair because the offense stalled, but it is his one and only job.  Offenses aren't always going to score, and when your in the redzone you don't want to risk turnovers, so you may play a tiny bit more conservatively and say "Hey, if we don't score we'll just boot it in and fix it next drive."  So when that happens you are assuming that your kicker can make a 25 yard kick.  Not us, I have to hold my breath every time he is on the field.  I thought we might actually have a higher pick than the Cowboys this year, and I expressed to my friend who is a Cowboys fan how strange it will be to have a pick higher than the Cowboys, but at this rate we'll be in the top ten yet again.

Fuck Graham Gano.  I'm glad the only thing we can count on with him is him screwing us.  At least there is some consistency on this team.

Hogs Haven Can Jim Haslett please just go away?

Are you kidding me.  Is this college football?  What the hell?  Michael Vick is apparently the god of football and the Redskins Defense is his bitch.  Haslett is a horrible coach and I don't know how he keeps getting jobs.  Both of the teams he was head coach for were terrible and once he left they got better (Rams getting better).  He comes here and turns a top ten defense into the worst in the league statistically.  Granted they manage to keep teams out of the endzone, aside from tonight.  I am embarrassed to be a Redskins fan tonight, however I will wear my jersey tomorrow and wear it proud.  But seriously, they are getting more turnovers and keeping them out, but you had two weeks to prepare for Vick, and you didn't do shit.  They are even with the close games and if that kept up for the rest of the season, we're only at 8-8.  Now, that is much better than last year, and 1 more win than I predicted, but after tonight, I just don't know.  I mean I'm tired of watching them get ripped up because if they would actually be able to stop drives that get field goals, we would have won 2-3 more games.  The way the offense is playing, all teams need are field goals to win.  At least last year's defense was something we could be proud of, now we have nothing.  Just so you all know I hate Jim Haslett with a passion.  Always have and always will, it's just fact that his teams suck balls.

Hogs Haven Just a thought.

Lets say Cam Newton stays in college for his senior season.  He does good again, but everyone says that his skill set won't allow him to be an effective QB in the NFL.  Or they say that he does, whatever, it doesn't matter.  Either way, maybe the Redskins should take a serious look at drafting him with whatever pick they can.  Think about it, the best all around threat in college being taught by Donovan McNabb, one of the best big running threat QBs.  McNabb is here for a max of 4-5 yrs, and in that time he can mentor the next Redskins QB, especially one with a similar skill set.  Obviously we have glaring needs (O-Line, CB, WR) but QB will be one especially since we all know McNabb's history with injuries.  I would like to have a QB that we can call our own, one that we drafted that doesn't have to go through a million different systems before he gets shipped out to Oakland.  Coincidentally Cam is also from Auburn, obviously, and kind of like JC, except really fast.  I think McNabb could really help this kid adjust to the speed of the NFL and teach him not to resort to the run and just push him along until it's his time.  Just a thought.

Hogs Haven There's our $100 million man

Wow, it's refreshing to see such domination in the middle with Albert.  The man we love to hate played exceptionally well today and I actually felt like I liked him for the first time since they signed him last year.  I don't know if anyone else noticed but he seemed fired up, but didn't show it after his big plays.  Guys were jumping all over him and he just kept walking.  I took that as the other players were trying to welcome him back into the lineup and he was in that focused mode where you just keep a straight face and show no emotion and walk back to the field like a fuckin badass.  We all hated what he did to this team and I loved what Shanahan was doing to punish him, but it got ridiculous as the season went on.  We clearly needed a presence in the middle and Shanahan was too stubborn to let him in.  We all saw what he does and hopefully this will lead to an improved relationship with everyone.  If he can play like he did Sunday, then that $100 mil seems less and less of a waste.  Here's to hoping. Hogs Haven Disappointed, yet impressed.

Wow, that was a great game and I am very surprised on how well they played overall.  Once again the defense was shotty, but made some plays when it counted.  Very disappointed in the run defense, but hey, that comes with an inexperienced 3-4 schemed defense.  Obviously the pass defense wasn't good at all, but it's Peyton Manning so it's expected.  They definitely played great on the last two drives, but this time the offense let them down.  I was happy that they kept it close and it shows that they are progressing and getting more comfortable on both sides and a lot faster than I expected.  Trent and Jamaal played great in my eyes, I was very happy with their performances.

Now for the negative stuff.  I really only have one complaint, and its about Donovan.  Why did he throw that slant?  He was obviously blanketed and really had no chance of catching it. They could have had the momentum right off the bat, but no, he had to give it back to the Colts.  That is possibly the worst team to have that happen to.  And then the end of the game.  WTF.  Are you retarded?  The defense just played possibly the greatest series of the season and you squander it.  WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU THROW THE DAMN BALL DEEP ON 4TH AND TEN!!!????!?!?  I just don't understand what he was thinking.  Two people down field, and a wide open Fred Davis.  He had to have known the play, he just didn't think and it lost the game.  He does it all the time too, just bombs it down field in to covered guys when there really isn't a risk of a sack if he waits one more second, and he does it at the worst possible times (3rd and 5 and under, 4th down period).  Why can't you just look and not go "Hey I have time, nobody's open, look guy streaking down field, I don't want to look for defenders, guy wide open short with nobody around who can get the first down, BUT I WANT THE TOUCHDOWN NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!  GOTTA BOMB IT!!!"  Why can't he just be smart?  I'm guessing that Armstrong was running a clear-out route because he didn't even look for the ball until he was 25-30 yds down field, so why doesn't that run through his head?  He is the reason they lost the game, because you can't contain Peyton forever and if you try as hard as they did, the running lanes are open.  So pick your poison and hope you can survive it.  And they should have.

Hogs Haven Seven Years

I am 18 years old now.  I feel like the I won't see a Super Bowl contender Redskin team until I am at least 25.  I say that because it will take awhile to build a successful consistent team that can compete every single year.  They are on the right track with Shanny and Allen running the show now, but they need a couple years to pull in the right guys through free agency and the draft.  Plus a couple more years for them to mature and get fully adjusted to the NFL.  Trent Williams will be the base and lots of people will need to be replaced.  These positions will need to replaced: QB, MLB, both CBs, FS, C, G, RT, at least 1 baller WR and a good WR, DT, and an end opposite of B-Rack.  With all those problems it will be at least 7 years before I will actually think the Redskins will be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.  I think with the front office we have now we may be the next Houston Texans.  Except the ones that beat the Cowboys.  But seriously, I say the Texans because of how they've been drafting and how they've improved every year.  Here's to hoping.

Hogs Haven Nice guys, way to go.

Washington Redskins lose to the St. Louis Rams.  Wow, that is sad.  Let me say that again.  Washington Redskins lose to the St. Louis Rams.  Are you kidding me.  Who is on their team again?  Sam Bradford, Steven Jackson, and OJ Atogwe.  That's it.  Three players that would start on another team.  Their receivers ripped up the secondary, but thats not any bit surprising at all.  I thought that beating them by two points last year was embarrassing enough.  Please Jim Haslett, get the fuck off the team.  What has he done this year exactly?  Made the defense 30 times worse.  Nothing has improved, everything has gone downhill with the defense.  It has become a liability, not a strength.  At least last year nobody was moving on the defense, now they look like lost puppies wandering around.  I think it's been masked up because the offense is finally showing something.  But now its out there for everyone to see.  Sam Bradford throws for 235 yards and a TD.  Not a great day, but not a bad one.  But 129 yards rushing allowed is not good.  And that was without Steven Jackson for half the game.  I love the players they brought in for the defense, but I now hate Jim Haslett.  the 3-4 defense clearly is not working here and we need a change.  Switch back to the 4-3 with B-Rack and Andre at ends again and maybe we can get that douche bag Albert to stay and play with Maake and we have a solid d-front again.  Perry Riley can start at OLB with Rocky and London, or if they don't like Perry then they can draft one, because we will have another mid to early first rounder yet again if things keep up this way.  Get Carlos out of here too.  Wow he is bad.

Hopefully they see what is happening to this defense and what they did last year because the defense is the one thing I was proud of and now they suck ass.  Fuck Jim Haslett.

And hopefully Trent Williams is okay because Stephon Heyer is terrible.

Hogs Haven Wow. Really?

Are you serious?  4th down, and you don't think "hey maybe I should go help the white guy over there that is the only person covering THE best WR in the league" or as a coach think "maybe I should tell my guys to make sure that Andre Johnson is double covered because he is pretty good".  Granted the horrible pass coverage couldn't cover themselves with a blanket at night, it's fucking Andre fucking Johnson.  Why do they always do this, every year.  EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!  They play good for the first half and then think they can coast in the second half and don't change anything.  They let us down again, and might I say that that was possibly the worst pass defense I have seen in a long time.  The Texans DBs are young so you can't expect them to shut down a good QB, but our DBs are vets, and they just got shredded by everyone.  It was weird seeing the Texans not catch the ball.  Pass rush was ineffective at the end when they needed it the most, sure there was hits that stopped Shaub and threw him off, but there was also times that there was absolutely no pass rush.  And was Albert inactive this week?  I didn't hear anything, so I don't know.

That was just the defense.  MCNABB!!!! WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING THINKING??!!?!?!?!?!?!  Why do you throw the deep ball on third down in OT, not to mention a shitty deep ball?  Get the short one, look for the damn first down.  I know that people may not have been open, but still, deep ball should be your last resort in that situation, make a smart play.  Joey Galloway you son of a bitch.  He has to catch that bomb.  He slowed down and it was a beautiful throw, damnit.  Fred Davis, wtf.  You completely whiffed on a block that you HAVE TO MAKE EVERY FUCKING TIME!  You are solely responsible for that blocked kick.  And that brings me to the fucking idiot who has one job, to kick a fucking field goal.  You practice every single day, you warm up on the sideline all game, and you made it earlier.  Now I am extremely biased because I am a University of Miami fan, and this just added to my hatred of Graham Gano.  I hated him last year, and I still hate him this year,, and I will probably hate him as long as he is alive, unless he is our Adam Vinateri.   I just flat out hate kickers, all of them.  Easiest job in the world, and they still manage to fail week in and week out.

This was just a rant, but I needed to get it out.  How do you lose with 400+ yards passing?  I'll tell you, 18 yards rushing and allowing 500 yards passing.  I thought the defense was supposed to carry this team, they just carried them to a loss.

Hogs Haven Coaching next year. And draft.

Ok, so as we all know, the players are emptying the tank every game for the past 4-5 weeks, but since this season is over for the Skins, lets look ahead to next year.

Draft:  This draft, i think, will depend entirely on whether we keep Jason Campbell or not.  If not, do we get a top end QB like Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy?  If I was Snyder and Cerrato, i would keep JC and load up on O-line, like trade down, get a first round o-line, maybe something else with the second rounder, get another o-lineman with the next pick, and another one down the road.  Maybe a RB somewhere in there?   A LB would probably be smart and then they could move Brian to a full time beast (end).  And if Carlos leaves then maybe a CB too.  But i think our glaring hole is at the O-line and i know I'm not the only one.  The line has preformed valiantly the past couple of weeks, which is great becasue that means less lineman we need to draft.  The defense is great, flat out great, maybe a FS so LaRon can go back to what he does best, stupid assholes who took Sean away, damnit.  But if Snyder and Vinny decide to keep Jason, i think it would help us in the long run and immediatly.  I was one of those people calling for Zorn's job and Campbell to get out, but now it really seems like they are grasping the offense that Sherman Lewis is calling, which brings me to my next point.

Coaching:  SEE IF WE CAN LOCK UP SHERMAN LEWIS!  The players are getting it right and Sherman gets most if not all the credit.  I think we should try and keep him and see if he'll be the offensive coordinator.  Now I am going to contradict myself because this would be awesome, even though it is probably out of question.  Fire Zorn or demote him.  See if he will take one for the team and be assistant coordinator so he can focus on making Jason better.  Now this will probably draw some negative comments, but I wanna say it anyway.  Go get Gregg Williams as our Head Coach.  I know that Greg Blache has done a good job, but he learned from Gregg, and he could keep his job as D-Coordinator, it would just make our D that much better, i mean look what he did with the Saints D.  I know it doesn't seem likely, but it is a Head Coaching job, and isn't that what every coordinator is building up to?  I don't know how many teams would want Zorn after he got his play calling privelidges stripped from him and he wasn't doing good when he had them, so maybe some time on the market will draw him back to us, and even if Sherman doesn't want to be a coordinator and just wants to be an "Offensive Consultant" then get Zorn as the O-Coordinator.  I just think he can really help Jason develop to his full potential, because he has shown us what he can do when they cut him loose.  I know the chances of a Head Coach accepting to be demoted probably won't happen, but i think that it would be better than going out and getting someone else who wants to add his own offense again.  The players are finally used to what is going now and maybe that can carry over into next season.

Canal Street Chronicles sorry saints

about my post last sunday, i offer my apologies as i was just so angry.  i watched my team for the third week in a row go into the fourth quarter with a lead and blow it.  my outburst was due to my extreme disapointment in a team that should be winning.  im sure you saints fans know how i was feeling since the saints werent having their best years way back then.  i hope you all understand that i love my team and i will always love them, no matter what.  i was just so damn mad, i couldnt control it anymore.  now that that is out, i hope the saints continue on, because that will one hell of a super bowl in miami with two undefeated teams (assuming the colts can actually make it).  those '72 dolphins need to be knocked off their high horse.  and by the way, as i dont pay too much to the saints website or saints news, do they plan on starting evereyone in the final weeks like the pats did?

Hogs Haven apology

To all of you Redskins fans, out there, i will admit i over reacted, very badly, but when i posted my fanpost, it was right after kareem moore was stripped.  my head almost exploded when they scored.  my laptop was right there and i needed to express my fustration.  Except travishjwhatever, weakminded, you can go screw yourself.  the reason i was so pissed off was because i had hude expectations for the skins this year, i thought that maybe they had finally figured it out a little bit and were finally going to be a contender, i was shot down very quickly after almost losing to the rams, the losing to the lions.  and you can go to hell when you question my heart and call me weakminded.  i went through possibly my last year of actual organized football this year with a team that could have won a lot of games.  what i saw was players, starters at that, quit at the beginning, middle and end of the season.  we went 2-8 this year and i watched a kid with so much talent, our star player that ran 4.6 as a sophmore in high school quit the second game in the season.  left and right my peers quit, but i stayed.  through all those games that we lost, and we got our asses kicked, I never even thought about quiting.  i loved football, and no matter what the score was, often it was about 40-7, i played my ass off from snap to whistle, and even a little after the play.  so think about who you are talking to before you question someones heart, asshole.

very glad today when i learned shaun suisham is finally gone.  thank you guys (vinny and dan and everyone) for auditioning kickers before next year.

Hogs Haven Are the Redskins the worst team in the league?

I say yes.  they just can't seem to do anything right and when they do, they ALWAYS blow it.  Shut down the cowboys all day, then screw it up.  Lead the eagles the whole game, then of course, leave people wide open and lose again.  Pick Brees to end the half, then give it back to them for a damn touchdown.  Can they do anything right, can they finish anything. NO NO NO, THEY CAN'T!  and not to mention sending that ridiculous email.  An idiot in the front office apparently spreads to every single person in the organization.  Today i see that the offense finally moves the ball and scores points and just like usual, the defense leaves their best wideout WIDE OPEN, then screws it all up when we have the lead again.  I say we are the worst because Detroit beat us, and at least the Rams have a 1,000 yard back.  the Bucs would probably rip us apart if Josh Freeman was playing.  Its amazing to me that we have 3 wins even.  If you lose to the Washington Redskins, then your team is in trouble.

Hogs Haven Friday, November 27, rememeber him. Honor him.

As most of us should know, this Friday is the anniversary of the late great Sean Taylor's death.  As a young fan of the Redskins and a football player myself, I looked up to Sean Taylor.  I remember wanting to be just like him, to be able to play with such tenacity week in and week out.  He was the life of the defense, and when he passed, it felt like my heart just stopped, and I never even met him or was able to watch him in person, something I deeply regret now.  Being able to get away from your past and focus on your family would not be easy, but Sean did it, he gave himself a second chance and that is something that we should all admire.  After law trouble, its amazing that someone can move on from something they have been doing all their life, move on so far that he didn't even want a gun in his house.  I always think about how amazing it would be to watch an outstanding player paired up with another one (LaRon).  No doubt in my mind that LaRon would turn into a top flight pro bowl, all-pro, future HOF safety under Sean's direction, not that he won't anyway (fingers crossed).  But the way he carried himself on the field scared people, especially cowgirls, it was so much fun to watch.  My most memorable thoughts of Sean will always be him vs. TO.  I am an avid TO hater along with the rest of you, and Sean showed it everytime.  I loved watching him scare TO and getting those cheap shots in, even if i know its not right, its TO.  I know Santana and Clinton will remember and try their hardest to get a win for their teammate and friend.  I'm counting on Clinton getting in the game next Sunday and running wild on the Eagles.  So this Friday, on his 26th birthday, I will be wearing his jersey in honor and rememberence of a legend.  I hope that every Redskin fan remembers the Meast, and think about his daughter and his family who will have to live without a father and son.  We all know that he is gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Hogs Haven 12-7... wait, Shaun Suisham is a POS.

Are you serious, I can understand a 50 yard miss, but seriously, a 39 yarder!!!  Wow. That is all i can say is wow. all you needed to do was make that one kick and the game is completely different.  But I guess that's the difference between a piece of crap kicker and a good one.  He must be going back to his old ways of inconsistency after a 12-12 start, showing us that maybe he was a kicker that we could count on, guess not.  Don't get me wrong, the offense was excruciating, how can you just stall like that, EVERY SINGLE DRIVE!!!!!  I just wish that us fans couold go down to them and show them how disapointed they make people.  I can't give props to the D because they didn't come through when it counted the most.  How do you shut them down all day and then blow it, even if your tired, they are too.  but i guess that's the story of the Redskins this year, almost, but almost doesn't cut it.  they should try and lose some more and get a high first rounder so they can trade down and get some youth at the O-Line.  I must say though, the O-Line really stepped up today.  Hopefully some of those young guys can pan out so we won't have to draft so many O-Linemen.

Hogs Haven Jason Campbell

Ok, i may be preaching to the choir saying the same old things, but people need to realize that JC hasn't had a consecutive year of an offense for a long time.  He's had to remember so many terms and plays that he is bound to make mistakes, but once he gets comfortable, he'll be great.  For you people who think Todd Collins should be our starter, you need to also realize how old he is and how much experience he has.  I mean Campbell has more experience than him and he's only been in the league 5 years.  He may have TOOK us to the playoffs 2 years ago, but I don't see him being a better leader than JC.  After all, those four games came after Sean Taylor's death which meant that everyone had that feeling that they have to do it for him, they were filled with grief and wanted to let him know that they were going to fight and bring the same intensity that he did every single sunday.  Clinton Portis and Santana probably felt that they needed this for him, and that they werent going to let this team fold.  Jason Campbell will have a certain swagger this year as he looks to prove retard Snyder that he is the future of this franchise.  Don't get me wrong though, I have hated how JC takes the backseat role and lets other people be the leaders.  But i think this year will be special for us fans as we see Campbell shock everyone and actually lead a team deep into the playoffs.  In all honesty, I am thinking NFC East champs.  They can beat the Giants and the Cowboys, but the Eagles are looking scary this year.  If Jason can pull his act together this year, then we will be the NFC East champs.  I'm seeing Jason Campbell leading the O while DeAngelo Hall Comes in and provides that gamebreaking leadership that we have lacked.  With London, DeAngelo, and Landry hounding that D, we could possibly be #1 D in NFC, maybe even the league.  I know these expectations are extremely high, but from what they have showed the past years, I think we finally have the team we've been looking for.  If we don't make it to the Conference Championship this year then I will join the wagon of JC is not our QB, but right now i think he is.  I say CC because I expecting a division championship and winning Wild Card and Divisonals, maybe even a first round bye.

Hogs Haven Linebacker 2

I see now that LaVar is never coming back, and HB could potentially play there, but what about Thomas that we just signed, hes got experience and he was a first round pick.  maybe he'll be the answer, him and HB in a rotation maybe?  I dont know him very well but the last FA that we picked up from the Raiders was a good signing, so maybe everyone in Oakland is destined to fail, but I dont know.  He's fairly young while experienced and his stats didnt wow me but they arent too bad, but he also is coming an injury that allowed him to play only two games.

What about LaVar Arrington coming back for us.  I know he is older know, but if he managed to stay in shape then wouldn't he be healthy from the absence.  I don't know if his body would be able to just comeback to football after being gone for this long.  But you never know, he could be as healthy as when he was young (probably not).  wouldn't mind seeing him come back though.  And what about bringing back Marcus Washington for a vet minimum?

Now to move onto the draft.  I think we should go Micheal Oher because of what he do for us by solidifying that right side and maybe moving to left side when the inevitable happens, Chris Samuels retires, and Stephon Heyer could go be right side.  I think it would be fine if they went Cushing or Maualuga if Oher was gone, but I think they should really go Oher if he is there at 13.  I also think that moving down and getting more picks would be good, especially since Philly has 2 first rounders and we only have 1 in the first day.  We could move down and get Maybin maybe, but probably not, but either way moving down and getting more wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hogs Haven Lines.

[Note by TexSkins, 01/05/09 8:57 PM CST ] I'm promoting this because this is a good topic to get us started in the offseason. I'll have a follow up as soon as I find a few minutes away from work.

this draft i would not be dissapointed if we stocked up on lineman.  now i know that may not be the smartest thing but watching our D-line fail to get any pressure AT ALL even with that "HOFer" that, in my opinion we wasted a second rounder on, our line was terrible.  and it sent a shockwave through the defense.  not pressure from the front four we had to send linebackers and because the oline could take our d-line one on one we had to send more linebackers or sit back and make the corners jobs harder.  and if our backers go, quick dump off and no one is there to stop them.  now our d was pretty darn good this year even without a pass rush imagine how good we could be with one.  we could basically be the steelers except instead of being a sack machine we would be a pick/hurry/thrown away machine.

i was extremely dissapointed with the o-line at the end.  the reason we were doing so well early is because our o-line would dominate and jason had a lot of time and clinton had huge tunnels to run through.  but as the season wore on the o-line faded and our offense stalled, defense was put on the field more and under more pressure and the whole team collapsed.  example was the steelers game.  we could have demoralized within 5 minutes but the offense could not move the ball after two steeler TOs inside of the 50.  they could have ended the game basically in the first quarter but they couldnt.  and that was the story for the rest of the season.  i think drafting a new left gaurd with a high pick(im assuming zorn will trade down) then a new left tackle maybe in the next couple years to replace samuels when he leaves and we can get a center in the later rounds this year and get some d linemen too this year then we can prepare for the future.  just think in the next few yearsour line could be this

LT:Samuels LG:Rinehart C:New RG:Thomas(maybe)or New RT:Heyer

that would be a good line.  tell me if you agree or if im just crazy

Hogs Haven what do we do now?

ok, well i read the article by JLC about the corners, and im worried about what might happen.  he said that carlos rogers is almost certain to not be redskin next year.  this is just my opinion but i love carlos.  he is really becoming a good corner.  sure he drops picks which really kills me and i hate it when that happens.  with deangelo hall expecting to re-sign \(hopefully) and shawn springs  coming back it looks even more grimm that carlos will stay since we all know he wants start.  now, i dont know if it was just JLC misleading me but he said that carlos said or implied that carlos will not back up hall or springs.  now i suggest that maybe you rotate them even though noone else uses that method, i dont really know how well that would work but i would keep them fresh and ready to go.  and what if springs shocks the world and gets injured again?  then what, would smoot be able to step in and cover a starting WR or aTE at that?  i dont know.  or maybe carlos and deangelo could start maybe, just maybe shawn would take a backseat this year.  and he probably wouldnt be sitting for lond since we all know the injury bug likes to hit the skins early and often.  and i know how much money that would end up costing, and  know we may need to replace some linebacker spots, but we could have an amazing secondary, and maybe find a gem in the draft.  idk tell me what you think.  i wouldnt mind if they got rid of rogers or springs and got a good or blooming young lineman, D or O.  and what would we get if we tried to trade him?

Hogs Haven ladell, wtf

what is his problem. its really not hard to have both hands on the ball. portis does it,  even jason campbell has started to hold on better.  he needs zorn to take one of his unusual ideas and make him practice it everyday.  i mean seriously.  i may be dwelling on the past, but i vividly remember the st. louis game during that 5-11 season when we had it in our grasp and he couldnt hold on to it on a breakaway run when he only had that one guy to beat.  should we be thinking about dealing him? i know he is a good asset to have just in case portis goes down again, but i dont know how many more fumbles i can take from him.

Hogs Haven they sucked tonight.

what can i say.  they played like such shit.  i should have expected something like this after they could barely beat the lions.  Campbell has forgotten how to throw away the ball i guess, and i saw randy thomas standing around watching portis get hit by HIS guy.  the first quarter was fun, then it just got ridiculous.  campbell played like an average qb and the offense couldnt get anything going.  they should have kept running early on even though it was getting nowhere, it was better than getting sacked or getting nothing, at least portis could have maybe broke one free. but this loss really got me P.O.ed.  we play like this at all for any of the rest of the games, were lucky if we go 10-6.

Hogs Haven Clinton Portis for MVP?

could it happen.  he has performing far above anyone else these last 4 weeks and it seems like there is no end in sight. would it happen if the he played like he did vs the rams but the skins lost? this is a tough question, because even though he is making an impact on the team they arent winning so it may be overlooked.  now he has more than 100 yards than the next person in rushing and if this keeps happening we could ride his back deep into the playoffs.  now it may just be bad teams that he is ripping up, but the eagles and the cowboys are definetliy not the browns or rams.  i think if he performs like that against the steelers, we may be hearing his name in serious consideration for MVP.  i think he will the rushing title especially with the o-line staying healthy and doing great.  i dont want to get high hopes and then get crushed but i think with the way he is playing, we ARE going to be the team to beat in december.  maybe a home playoff game even.  I just hope he keeps it up.

Hogs Haven VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! CHEIF ZEE MUST WIN!

i know there is already a post about this but we need to win this,  Poe said "I’m going to put Chief Zee right where he belongs, back in the cupboard like in that book I once read.“  We cant let him win.  All their fans putting them across message boards so we need to go and vote.  And also, vote more than once if everyone votes two or three times then we'll have an easy victory against that fluffball.  hurry and go vote

Hogs Haven rookies

is it just me or does everything think rookies are getting paid too much.  matt ryan does not deserve 72 mil with 30 mil guaranteed 35 mil.  hes a rookie.  he hasnt proven himself in front of the elites yet. and what if he fails.  thats a lot of money top throw at someone who hasnt played a snap of NFL football yet.  i think there should be a rookie salary limit, maybe 30-35 mil at the most, but unproven rookies should not be making more than seasoned vets.  tell me what you think.

Hogs Haven caldwell

is there any reason that we just let reche caldwell go.  he was showing that he could be good and he would have probably played a lot especially since zorn wants a good wr and he'll probably go through a lot of them to find one. o well, i guess its not all bad, now anthony mix has a higher  chance of making the roster and playing.

Hogs Haven draft

who should we be interested in and get? i think we could be looking at a big WR, but then there is Javon Walker.  i hope that we  r not looking at him because i think he is a waste of money at thisd point.  hees injury prone and will probably want a lot of money.  idk.  should we draft a safety in the first, WR 2nd, and CB 3rd.  i think it would be adding to an already good team.  pretty much the first year we have almost a full draft i cant think of anything we despretly need.
