Trade Rumors on MLBTR

Anyone see the article MLBTR linked to about the Braves' potential moves? Most of it was the same ol' same ol:' buyers or sellers, trading Tex, Ohman, etc, maybe picking up Nady or bay, but it also mentions that the Braves will entertain offers for Francoeur.

Trading Francoeur is news to me. I wonder if his attitude about being demoted to AA is a factor? And, I wonder if he even has any trade value? I'm guessing that it won't happen, but it is interesting. Maybe Francoeur would be better with a fresh start, where he's not the chosen one.

Tex News?

Buried somewhere near the bottom of this article, Jayson Stark is saying that Braves  are still actively trying to re-sign Tex and not looking to trade him. I might have missed something, but this was news to me.

Of course, at this point, with the way he's played this year, I'm not sure I'd even want to re-sign Capitan Slow Starter. But, it would be nice to get more for 5 prospects than a year and a half of a first baseman.

But, if we do end up trading him, or if he signs somewhere else, I can't help but wonder who will take over at first?

Road Woes...

If misery loves company, the Braves apparently aren't alone in their road struggles, though they've certainly had the worst case of the road trip blues. In fact, they've had the worst road winning percentage in the modern era, according to Jayson Stark's new column, talking about how road wins are down all over the majors this season.

So, the bad news is that we're really bad on the road, in fact, maybe the worst in the history of the game! But, the good news is that the Braves are not alone in struggling on the road this year. I was surprised to see that the next worst road record is owned by the Red Sox!

Stark throws out some interesting theories as to why teams are losing more on the road than ever before, like having a younger team, which we definitely have. I wonder if he's on track here, and how much these factors have affected the Braves?

Good thing we're starting another road trip tonight...

Jordan Shafer

On the radio broadcast today, the announcers started discussing Jordan Shafer, and they mentioned that he's eligible to start playing again on May 30, which is tomorrow. I'm wondering, with Matty on the DL, Kotsay hurting, and Infante playing fairly regularly as the only other guy who can play outfield, if and when we might see Shafer get the call to the bigs?

I'm thinking he'll do at least a week or two in Richmond to get back in shape, then maybe he'll be ready to get called up. Of course, by then, Kotsay will likely be feeling better, and we may not have a need or a spot for Jordan. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Midseason Trade?

With all the chaos in the rotation, has anyone thought about maybe trading for Joe Blanton from the A's? I haven't been keeping close tabs on that situation, but I know there was talk about the A's trading him sometime this season. I don't think Blanton has had as good a season this year as he had last year, but he's throwing well nevertheless. He hasn't been winning a lot, but that's due more to the lack of run support he's been receiving than poor outings. What do yall think about making a run for him? It probably won't be cheap, but I'd think we have the talent to give up for him (maybe Lilibrigde).
