Recently there's been speculation that the saints have no intention of bring Bush back next season as his cap numbers would be too high for his production. What would you guys think of bringing in a guy like this if we ended up losing chester taylor in free agency?

Bush isn't a powerback by any means of the word but is fast and dangerous if he gets to the outside. He may compliment Peterson well as we can use him a reciever and jack of all trades, kind of like Taylor. And if favre comes back we would have yet another weapon in the arsenal to tear up the North and the league in general. I'm typing this between classes so i don't have a ton of time to put up a full argument for or against the USC legend. Give me your thoughts, cause this could be an interesting acquisition.

Watching TJ and JDB this week and Sage last week, it looks to be a close race for QB roster spot. TJ was 12 for 15 for 202 yards and 2 TDs. Impressive to say the least. JDB was 6 of 8 for 61 yards. I'm was impressed. These performances to top off Sages 10-12 for 93 yards last week. I know it's only preseason, but I'm liking the depth at qb. I hope we can retain all 4 but I know that would be difficult. What does everyone else think? I'm excited and slowly coming to grips with Favre being our QB.

I play in an 8 team league so our depth is pretty good all season, and I've won once and placed third last year and was just looking for some input into how you guys think i did with my draft. I picked 7th.

We're effed in the A, for our future now. Whose going to qb this team next season and the following 5-10 years after that. NOT Brett Favre. Sage possibly? Beats the shit out of me. There's already talks of us letting TJ go, so my guess is he's out of the picture. Does this not worry anyone or is a one year fix fine with everyone, cuz to tell you the truth I'm kinda worried about this. What's your thoughts. Be honest.

And does anyone know what happened in the williams case, wasn't that suppose to be decided yesterday?

Minnesota's quarterback quandary.

This year is the year of quarterback for our Beloved Purple. Either Rosenfels or Jackson's have to prove they can lead this team, for at least another year or two.

Jackson's must show he deserves a contract extension. If he puts up even average numbers this year I can reasonably say our team will be in good shape for years to come. The same goes for Rosenfels, although he's not playing for a contract.

I think the vikings target a young qb this offseason, whether it be in the draft or through a trade. With solid play this year from Sage or TJ we can give that player time to grow into and adjust to our offense, especially if we draft a guy. If Sage or TJ show they can't lead this team, I'd be a little worried for the future.

Because that could mean our young guys getting thrown for the hounds too soon, a lot like Bad Brad's poor play got TJ tossed to the lions.

Most Overrated Team

Tonight, we're going to lay down a few facts that point to the Bears as being the most overrated team this season.

Lets start with the Bears highly touted Defense:

In 2007, da Bears ranked 28th in league in total yardage allowed (355 ypg). 24th in the rush( 122 ypg) and 27th in the pass(231 ypg). They also finished 16th in points allowed.

Now last year, they did improve slightly but were still in the bottom halve of the league in total ypg (21st) , pass ypg (30th), and points allowed (16th). They did however finish an impressive 5th in rush defense after finishing 24th the year before.

Saying that the defense is the same defense of the 4 or 5 years ago is a joke. They haven't performed at that level for quite some time now. I know last year was last year and this year is this year, but the Bears have done little to improve their defense other than release Mike Brown (?) and sign a new d-line coach, who by the way led the lions into infamy last season.

And yes the Bears have talented linebackers in Urlacher and Biggs, but Urlachers had problems with his back and neck and hasn't made the Pro-Bowl since 2006.

Then there's Tommie Harris, he recently had his knees rebuilt and hasn't been a Pro-Bowler since 2007 and couldn't put in a full season last year.

I'm just going to say the pass D is a joke and now without Brown they'll be a bigger joke, evidence of this can be found in the gametape of week 7 and 13. Hell, you can get a better pic of their whole defense in thos tapes.

The Bears have the second best D in the North, but they shouldn't be relying to heavily on them this season unless somehow a miracle happens and Urlacher's arthritis disappears and Harris's legs holdup.

Now Special Teams:

Though they still can be explosive, without Hester there is really no need to pay extra special attention to them. Hester would have been the best returner of all time had he not switched to WR.

And Finally Offense:

Let's get this out of the way; without the addition of Jay "Baby" Cutler this team wouldn't even be talked about this year.

Jay Cutler: 17-20 as a starter on a very talented and capable Broncos team. Last season he threw 25 td passes compared to 18 picks on a team that only allowed 12 sacks all season long. 12 sacks and 18 picks. Those numbers shouldn't coincide. Especially, when those 12 sacks were allowed in 620 qb dropbacks. Poor decision making? IDK, because protection doesn't appear to have been the problem. And oh yeah, teams don't trade franchise qbs if they are in fact franchise qbs.

Matt Forte, is a good up and coming back, but he averaged less than 4 ypc last year.

WR's are iffy at best, according to Bear's sources Bennet and Hester have improved but after lackluster seasons last year and the fact that neither appear to be red zone targets doesn't help their case.

Their o-line is old and decrepit, players are let go for a reason and Pace hasn't played a full season in quite some time. Kreutz got worked last season. Schaffer let go by the Browns, need I say more. They also allowed their qb to get sacked the ninth most times last season with 43 sacks allowed.

Overrated, because those stats don't impress me. No one on that team has warranted the hype they've gotten this year. Not even Cutler, and especially not their defense.

All information gotten from profootballreference.com, nfl.com, chicagobears.com, wikipedia.org, and yahoo sports.

Burgess

It looks as though the Raiders are trying to accomodate Derrick Burgess by shopping him on the trading market. With the retirement of Udeze and Ray Edwards lackluster season last year and the possibility of losing The Wall for the first four games of the season, do you think it would be logical to put up a trade offer for his services.

Burgess is a two time pro bowler and former league sack leader. He's 30 years old which would put him right in the middle in the age department, and he can be a beast on the field. However, he's had nagging injuries throughout his career and we don't know if that'll continue this season. Also you've got to take into account what Oakland would want in return for him. Also by acquiring him we wouldn't be neccasarily addressing a key need on our team, but only solidifying (stacking) our defensive line.

I my honest opinion I believe if we acquire him, which probably isn't likely, our defense would be one of the most dominant in the league, which it already is, so it would only make us that much better. I would offer up a 4th maybe a 3rd round pick and a player like say Wade or Allison for him, if it was Wade it would have to be a 4th rounder.

Also just came across this nugget: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/29/bobby-wade-says-urlacher-thinks-cutlers-a-pussy/

Kind of thought that was funny and the rest of you would appreciate it.

I am truly disappointed.

I just graduated high school, and I'm planning on attending UW-Madison and i find the trash talking going on between the fans of opposing teams, particularly trolls and my DN brethren to be despicable and childisn. Not since middle school have i come across such stupid name calling girly drama queen I'm better than you because I say I am BS. I'm disappointed in many of you. Ignore the trolls, let them have thier moment. Don't fuel the fire and let there egos grow. Ignore them and talk intelligent football talk back up with facts not opinions, because in the real world God don't give a shit what your opinion is.
