Mychael Urban on KNBR
Urban is hosting Sports Phone 680 right now for Damon Bruce. Should be interesting to see if any A's banter gets on the radio or if the gaints dominate since they actually won a game this evening (hung on is more like it).
So who will be the first A's related call and will the KNGR/giants phone screeners allow it through?
Btw, Has anyone called KNBR and told the phone screeners they wanted to talk about the A's and gotten hung up on?
Free Ticket to Tuesday Texas game in Section 116

Free ticket in Section 116 to tonights game
Seems I have tickets to tonights game but neglected to find anyone to fill my second seat (I actually didn't realize I had the tickets for the game). So this is your gain. I am giving away a single ticket in section 116 to tonights game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Here are the particulars on what you have to do:
1). 1st one to post to this thread saying they want the ticket gets the ticket.
2). I will meet you at 6:30 p.m. PT on the BART plaza near the glass doors towards the ticket windows.
Let the posting begin.
free ticket (section 116) to tonights game
Hello, me again offering up another free ticket. This time there is only a single ticket available in the usual seats in section 116 right near the vistors on deck circle (yes, you can taunt the on deck batters for the visiting team and I do this on occasion, ask Raffy Palmerio about his Vigra habit some time, I did).
So the first person to post the want the ticket gets it. I will meet you at 6:30 p.m. PT this evening on the BART plaza to give you the ticket.
Let the posting begin.
Free tickets in section 116 for June 30th and July 3rd
Yep, that's right I have a pair of tickets for the June 30th game against the Arizona Diamondbucks and the July 3rd game against the major league best Detroit Kitties. The July 3rd game is also a fireworks game. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. PT. There are two tickets available for each game and the tickets are in section 116 three rows from the front. Several ANer's have sat in these seats with me and they seem to like the view. However this time I'm giving away both seats to the game so you won't be stuck sitting with me, you can bring the person of your choice.
So what's the catch?
In order to get the tickets you need to be able to do the following:
1). Post to this thread with the reason why I should pick you to have the tickets. I will pick the best reason (at my sole discression). There will be two winners, one for each game.
2). You must state which game (Friday June 30th, or Monday July 3rd) you wish to attend.
3). You may only win tickets to one of the games
4). Only one winner per household.
5). Only one posting per AN user (so post carefully).
6). I will place the tickets in will call for you to pickup.
7). This contest will end at 5:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday June 27, 2006. Any postings after this time will not qualify for the contest.
Let the postings begin.
ANother free ticket for this evenings A's - Dodger game
I (again) have a single ticket for this evenings A's Dodger game (what is it with my friends not wanting to go?). The ticket is in section 116 third row from the front. The first person to post they want it gets the ticket.
The particulars are:
I work in San Francisco south of market so if you are in the area you could swing by before 3:00 p.m. to pickup the ticket. Otherwise I'd like to meet on the BART plaza next to the glass doors near the ticket windows.
Let the posting begin.
Free ticket to Tuesday June 13 game vs. Mariners
I've again got a ticket to this evenings game against the Seattle Mariners. The seat is in section 116 third row back. Perfect for conversing with the Mariner players has they are in the on deck circle or giving the umpires an earful after their thoughful ball/srike calls.
Now the particulars:
The first one to post here gets the ticket. I work in downtown San Francisco so if you want to meet before I leave at 3:00 p.m. I can give you the ticket then. If we can't meet then I'd want to meet about 6:30 p.m. on the BART Plaza near the glass doors.
Let the posting begin!
Ron Washington
So I'm at the A's game last night in my normal seats and something is strange out on the field, Ron Washington is not in the 3rd base coaches box. When they played the replay on Kendall's home run it was Brad Fisher shaking Jason's hand as he rounded third base. So what is up? Did something happen to Washington?
Free ticket to tonights game
I had someone back out on me for tonights game so I have an extra ticket. The ticket is in Section 116 three rows from the front. The first person to post here will get the ticket.
Now the particulars:
You have to post you want the ticket by 4:00 p.m. PT. Assuming my flight isn't late I'll probably get to the Coliseum around 7:00 p.m. tonight (just before 1st pitch, my flight arrives at 6:05 p.m.). I'll probably want to meet you between 6:45 (assuming everything goes well) and 7:05 p.m. on the BART plaza against the glass doors.
Let the posting begin.
Free Ticket for Tuesday's Mariners game
I have an extra ticket to the A's - Seattle Mariners game on Tuesday May 16th. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Starting pitchers are Joe "cupcakes" Blanton for the A's and Seattle Phenom Felix Hernandez. Blanton and Herandez faced each other on April 7th with the A's winning 5-0. Herandez gave up just one run but lasted only one inning. So they go at it again.
This seat is in Section 115. Post to this diary if you are interested in the ticket and we can figure out how to get you the ticket.
Billy Beane on with Ralph on KNBR
According to advertisments on KNBR today Billy Beane will be cohosting the Razor and Mr. T show with Ralph Barbieri for the entire four hours of the show on Monday January 9th 2005. The show starts at 3:00 p.m. PT. You can listen to KNBR on the web from their website at http://www.knbr.com/listenNow.html
DePodesta Fired
[EDITOR'S NOTE: When I heard this story on the car radio, I couldn't believe it. Frank McCourt has the tiniest set known to man. Kowtowing to the "mighty" and very clueless LA media like Bill Plaschke (could this guy be more of a caricature?), McCourt fired DePodesta when all DePo did was win a playoff game for the first time since the 49ers were relevant. His team was also destroyed by injuries this past season, including Gagne, Bradley and many on his pitching staff. DePo's downfall began the moment he traded LoDuca and the media tore DePo a new one. Grow a pair, McCourt. The Dodgers are no longer a team I root for. Disgusting. I hope the Dodgers lose 100 games this year. I only hope is that LA's loss is our gain. I would hope DePo could come back if some other owner isn't smart enough to scoop up one of the most brilliant minds in baseball. - Blez]
According to espn.com, Paul DePodesta has been fired as General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers started off 12-2 but finished the season at 71-91 for their second worst record since they moved to Los Angeles in 1958.
I think there was either a personality clash or Dodgers owner Frank McCourt panicked. The Dodgers had over $30 million on the DL for most of the season. Darren Driefort, JD Drew, and Eric Gagne were all out for large parts of the season. Milton Bradley missed the last month of the season. The one bright spot was Jeff Kent (of the recent acquistions).
Bill King dies
According to reports on KNBR Bill King has died. I have not heard what was the cause of death.
King was a legend in the Bay Area announcing scene having done the Warriors, Raiders, Giants (part time), and of course the A's. His calls of the Raiders during their glory years in the 70's were legendary, especially the "Holy Roller". However I think the greatest compliment I've ever heard was from a friend who would listen to Warriors games on the radio. His comment about King's annuncing was "I could see all ten guys on the radio." It doesn't get any better than that.
R.I.P
Ticket to A's - Mariners September 6th
I've got an extra ticket to the A's game on Tuesday September 6th. The ticket is in section 116 and it is free to the first person who wants it. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. PT and is the Kotsay bobblehead doll day (finally a game I go to where the A's are actually giving something away). First person who answers to this thread gets the ticket.
Important stretch of the season
The next 11 games will be a very important part of the season for the A's. Oakland starts with 4 games at home against the team directly in front of them in the AL West, the Texas "Chairthrowing" Rangers. Then it is off to a series of three games against the Anahiem Angels of Fontana (all night games). This is followed by another four games against the Chairthrowers at the bandbox they call home.
So over the next 11 games the A's play only the two teams in front of them in the AL West with the team directly in front of them playing 8 games. I think the next 11 games will tell us wether the A's have any chance at advancing to the post season. If the A's do well they could possibly jump over Texas and into second place in the AL West. Then the A's will have 10 more games against Anaheim to hopefully catch them.
If the A's don't do well in the next 11 games then thoughts of the post season are toast.
Tickets to A's - Giants on Saturday (+tailgate)
I'm hoping this is okay to post....
I overbought on tickets for a tailgate (in reality folks bailed, what are they thinking). So I've got about 10 extra tickets in section 325 that I'd like to get rid of. Only $7/ticket. We are having a tailgate along with this with steaks, chicken, duck quesedas, grilled asparagas, .... We'll also have some nice wines (this tailgate isn't about beer and brats).
So if you would like to join us add a post to this diary.
