fighting over daddy's love - UFC and Strikeforce
Here's the timeline as constructed as best as I can.
2005 - Zuffa pens a deal with Spike TV to put TUF on cable TV. Pretty much saves the company and Zuffa learns that TV is for the benefit of its PPV deal.
2006 - Zuffa buys WEC, lets it run a few years as a minor league.
2007 - WEC gets Versus deal.
2008 - dissolves heavier weight divisions and folds them into UFC
this is how couture/toney will go down
a self-regulating solution to holding submissions too long
if a fighter declines to let go of a submission hold long enough to create an injury, despite the referee's intervention; the punishment of the offending party should be a suspension from competition until the injured party is able to compete again.
if drwal is seriously injured (i haven't read any updates on his condition) and is out for 6 months, this is a slap in the face compared to parhales' 60-day suspension, especially considering that fighters typically fight every 90 days or so naturally.
barnett and hansen at dream 13. from darren uyenoyama's fbook.
