McCovey Chronicles Things do in SF and at the Park

McCoven! For my birthday I will be flying halfway across the country with my girlfriend to watch the Giants and spend a weekend in the city (Aug 13-15th series against the Pads).  Like most of you, I've been a Giants fan my whole life, but I have not had the opportunity to live near the bay area since I was 8 and am quite unfamiliar with the city and the stadium.

I created this fan post hoping to learn what your favorite things to do in San Fran are.  I'm aware of all the major tourist attractions and have been to a few of them, so I'm more interested in hearing about are where I might find an awesome local burrito joint, or a really cool place to go for a hike, or some other fun activity that only locals seem to know about.  I'm also eager to hear your thoughts on the best places to watch a game from inside AT&T.

Anyways, thank you so much in advance!

Wait last thing...where in the stadium are the garlic fries?  They're always mentioned and that is like my number one priority when I get inside the gates.

This is a bit old, but I stumbled across it recently and ohmigod try not to throw something through a window while you read it.

I found it an interesting read, and was enlightened by the take on Will Clark. As someone who didn't go to their first game until '93 (when I was 5 years old), I missed out on those late 80's teams and never thought of Will Clark as potentially being the best player in baseball during his prime. It was also nice to be reminded of the greatness of one Barry Lamar Bonds...damn I miss that guy.

McCovey Chronicles Anyone going to the games this weekend?

Anyone else going to watch the Giants/Rockies in person?  I'll be at Coors on Fri and Sat for sure, and will probably go Sunday as well.  Not sure what the CO MCC contingent is, but it might be fun to meet up for a beer or something between innings or before the game.  I've been waiting almost 2 months for the Giants to come back into town and have my Timmy jersey cleaned and ready to go (yeah I know he won't be pitching in this series =()!

Should be fun, LET'S GO GIANTS!

McCovey Chronicles Willie Harris, Infielder Extraordinaire

I was casually watching some of the Rockies-Nats game yesterday before the Giants game started, when in the bottom of the 4th a groundball was hit towards Willie Harris playing 2nd base.  The ball took a hop right in front of his glove and pegged him square in the nuts, causing Willie to crumple to the ground in pain as he reached out to try and grab the ball and finish the play despite having the most pained expression on his face.  Needless to say, the runner was safe at first and Willie Harris needed at least a 5 minute injury timeout to recuperate from this episode.  Watching the replay in slow motion was probably the funniest thing I have seen during a baseball game in 10 years, but I can not find a clip of that play to rewatch it over and over and over again.  Anyways, I was wondering if any of you fine folk could help me search for a video record of that play. Does MLB.tv premium let you go back and watch recently archived games? I suppose I should also make this post on Purple Row, but I don't really enjoy interacting with Rockies fans.

Thanks in advance!
