Why Ben Howland will probably end up the same as the coaches before him!

Lately the Ucla mens basketball program hasn’t faired so good, and the Wagons are circling the Warrior. Coaching basketball at ucla is got to be the worst job anyone would take, because no matter what if you don’t win it all you’re just Poop. Looking back on the coaches since John Wooden left the program (stop coaching to be more precise) their has been 8 coaches. First it was Gene Bartow (52-9) a very successful coach before Ucla and could only last 2 years saying this during his first year, “ I figure this nostalgia will pass in about a year as long as we keep winning, as he is shaking his head “ wow was he wrong.

Then came Gary Cunningham (50-8) a former Wooden assistant he lasted only 2 years saying, "I just didn't want to do it. I had to do what was right for me. And I simply enjoyed administration more." Ok that’s better. Then probably the best coach the Bruins have ever had Larry Brown 2 years 42-17 who after leaving UCLA, said later it was his worst decision in his life. Then when tried to come back later in life took the ucla job only to renege the next day, I guess after a good nights sleep (nightmare) changed that thought. Then came Larry Farmer 3 season and a 61-23 record only a round of 32 in march goodbye thanks for the memories.

Next they got good old Walt Hazzard (how many times did he change his name, well that lasted 4 year and 77-47 not so good. Then came Jim Harrick 192-62 an Ncaa championship in 8 season running the ship woodenpop. Then a scandal about a car and food money ended that love in. Ah next Steven Lavin (the most hated by BN and some others) 145-78 in 7 seasons (6 seasons tourney), but couldn’t stand up to expectations. Now it is Ben Howland and ucla after early success with Ben is 4-7 right now, and Howland isn’t doing so well. “Howland said he never really sleeps that well. Six or seven hours most nights, and never very soundly. Falling asleep is the hardest part, so he reads the paper or watches TV for a while before trying to relax enough to let the day go.”

So I say maybe if the 100 year old coach would have just retired and moved on would they have had this list of Casualties, maybe so maybe not. As if the ghost of Sam Gilbert has always been upon the Ruins.

Today most of America has lost the values it once had, only looking out for themselves not others. After watching the Blind Side again you really see the kindness that the Tuohy Family has that use to be common place in the US in 50s—70s. These people helped out someone in need and not for financial gain or fame. Although the Ncaa would say different but mainly Micheal Oher told them to take a hike.

One of the reasons I bring this up is the latest problem with a college athlete driving someone else’s car. The media has nothing else to do but throw stuff out there to harm others and make a name for them selves. Listening to Petros and Money rape Joe Mac and Wolfee complain that he is to difficult to talk too, makes me want to hurl. As wolf said that Joe complained that the media has ruined his life this week, and acted like that couldn’t be so and PMS agreeing made me see them as the Scum that they are.

I am glad for Micheal Oher and that he made it even though the Ncaa painted a picture that this family only help him, because they wanted him to go to Ol Miss. I say, why can’t families help out under privileged players and people to better them selves. I mean even if this kid didn’t make it to the NFL or College at least he got a nice education at a private Christian School. The rules are a bunch of Crap period and a high court needs to step in and change it. As for the Media not getting their way, well I say to the Gallows for them and maybe they will think before they write.

Yes I guess we have witnessed this new trojan BB team.

Mike Gerrity, yep 5th year senior can pass, dribble, and set up his post men which makes the offense open up for 15-20 foot shots. He might be quicker than Mr. Francis (RIP) his ability to blast by opposing guards makes everything else easier. Now with Alex Stephenson getting in shape day by day, next to arrive is Mr. Washington, Mr James Boyd (24+ Rebs HS), Mr. Korri Ennis (PG-SG) This will complete the Trojan team for 09-10. I have watched Cal, Wash, Stan, ucla and I don't see better teams I see beatable teams, so it looks like a nice Pac-10 party this year.

I love the fact that BK called out Crapipari and the Ncaa, I mean the guy gets teams on probation and Kentucky hires him. It is main reason I don't think the Weasel deserves a job in College Football, but that is on Ucla and I give it 1 more year and the Weasel will mess up (or Craig James it). So what do you all think about making coaches accountable for their actions?

Prevent defense and prevent offense this what Usc has become will it get any better, I don’t know. Really I don’t really care about going undefeated or that we beat ND and Ucla. But I do like to watch quality FB and that goes for BB to, so now It looks like Pc has become TF without the Tantrums. I really feel if they don’t win today’s game they should decline a bowl bit as did ND. I will always be fan of USC (it goes back a long way) but as DFW said a bunch of four and Five star kids that just doesn’t play with heart and smarts. Last week our defense looked great, but that was Ucla and they really I mean Really suck on offense. So whatever happens in this game and whatever bowl they play in doesn’t really excite me.

Five-star athlete Tony Jefferson (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake) decommitted from UCLA following an official visit to USC and will now decide for either the Trojans or the Oklahoma Sooners, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.

"The UCLA players really disrespected me before the game," Jefferson said. "When they saw me, they were all cussing at me, telling me to never come around Westwood again and things like that. These were guys that I had hung out with before and it was a lot of the team. I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game but I still didn't appreciate it."

The nation's No. 1-rated ATH will not take anymore trips. "Oklahoma is coming over Tuesday for a home visit. I'm sure USC will be coming in too but we haven't discussed it yet. Like I said, right now, the two are dead even and I really like both schools a lot. This whole recruiting thing has been crazy and I can't wait for it to end. There has been so many twists and turns but it should be over soon and I'll be glad when it is."

I have to really thank you all for all your comments in the past here at CC, I think the world of you all. I know sometimes I can get a little excited and come harsh at times, but that’s just my opinion, and everyone has one you know what I mean. So please don’t take anything I say as personal most of the time I am just playing around, because if you all didn’t come in here it would be pretty bland.

Well this is the Big game and you know who I am rooting for and I know where you all are at on this. So I say Go Trojans and Bruins and may the best team win, it as always will be a battle and a joy to watch.

Going to a USC---Ucla Game Party

They were always the best, people from both sides would get together and have a good time. Of course everyone would root for their team, but there wasn’t any problems regardless of who won. We never referred to one another as Trojans and Bruins, we actually called people by their given names. The reason it was civil is because we were either friends or friends of friends.

So after the game everyone still hung out and there was no animosity, just thoughts of did you see that play or what a run (OJ). You know shake hands or hang and move on, just having a good time and getting to know new people. I don’t think I ever saw anybody have a nasty argument and if they did everyone collectively would have made that person leave.

Know I read this Carter kid talking about throwing punches, I remember the time a RB tried to punch me. I was coming into their backfield and instead of blocking me this punk tried to swing on me, the thing is I was wearing a full birdcage and all he did is mess his hand up. After I got bye him I got the Dominguez QB for a Safety, I think it would have been better to block.

Well all I can say is Game On and my the best team win

USC-Ucla week

Oh the memories, this goes back to HS when I feel all of my teammates looked to USC be the premier football program to get a ride from. I don’t think anyone hated one program or the other they all respected all pac-8 teams at that time. I mean if you got recruited by any Pac-8 team you and your friends were happy.

I had a few friends end up at Cal, USC, Ucla, and we all said great for them, not why do you want to go there. I feel Non-athletes don’t get it they always have to put rivalry in the equation and some go to hating. I had 2 teammates end up at Ucla, Terry Vernoy and Rich Lemons, but when they played I hope them the best no matter who they played.

Basically I am a USC fan, but when they played Ucla I was that same fan knowing I would see one of the best FB games of the year. Yes I wanted Sc to win but I knew the history and anything could happen. What has really soured me to Ucla is the John Wooden years, and that John afraid of the competition blew the whistle on Tark. That was during all the Sam Gibert help time, and when Sam left did you notice the self proclaimed Wizard walked.

But in the last few years places like BN have really soured me on ucla and that is probably wrong to let Myopic fans change my view. But you know if I meet a kid getting a scholarship to ucla, I say great and good luck.

So I guess I am saying the moral to this piece is, no matter what happens one will lose and one will win. It will be a great game and you over at BN no matter the outcome will continue to hate, but don’t worry we still love you.------------------NOT
