A's press conference with Selig in San Jose???
That's the rumor being floated by the ANG reporters:

A source close to the Fremont negotiations said Monday that Selig will visit the area next Tuesday for a press conference with A's owner Lewis Wolff and executives at Cisco Systems Inc., a company that owns a 143-acre plot of land targeted for a new stadium. The source said that press conference could take place at Cisco Systems headquarters in San Jose.
Press conference not in Fremont, but in San Jose, hmmm?
That crashing sound you hear in the background might be smug Peter Magowan throwing something through a window. You could have had a seven-figure payment from the A's, Petey boy, if you agreed to let them play in San Jose, now maybe the commish will bless the name "San Jose Athletics" while the Giants get zip.
Jamie Quirk will interview for A's manager job
Hadn't seen Quirk mentioned anywhere until now, but apparently the former catcher with the A's and other teams, and current Rockies bench coach, is on the interview list along with Black, Geren, Hershiser, and Washington:

There is only one step left on the ladder. Jamie Quirk has been a major league player and a big league coach since he retired. The only job that has eluded the Rockies bench coach is big league manager. That's why he was delighted to speak with Oakland general manager Billy Beane today regarding the A's vacancy.Quirk is expected to fly to Phoenix next week for a formal interview with Beane.
"I think it will be a little more casual because I know Billy," said Quirk, who played with Beane on the A's in 1989. "I am really looking forward to this opportunity."
Oh, what the heck, let's have a poll...
Las Vegas Twinkies?
Don't look now, Marlins, but you may have company on your next "fact-finding" tour of Las Vegas:

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Twins don't have to play in the Metrodome beyond the 2006 season, a judge ruled Monday in a decision that could increase pressure on lawmakers to approve financing for a new ballpark.Hennepin County District Judge Charles Porter sided with the Twins in a lawsuit against the team's public landlord. The ruling gives franchise owner Carl Pohlad more power to move his team, although no city is publicly courting the Twins.
Porter ruled that the Twins lease expired in 2003.
. . .
After a decade of trying but failing to pass a workable stadium plan, the Twins are mulling whether to approach the legislature with another proposal.
