The description of the story on SI's NFL page, before you reach the article via the "full story" reads... "The Packers win over the Vikings was more than a Farve-fueled coup. It validated Aaron Rodgers and helped Green Bay take a Lamblow leap forward in the NFC North," according to Don Banks.
SI NFL homepage: check story description
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/?eref=sinav
My question is: How in the Hell did this win validate Aaron Rodgers? Please Packer Trolls help me understand how the 2 INT's and the multiple (back shoulder I'm still confused from a concussion) throw away's validated Aaron Rodgers?
I'm struggling to understand this logic from SI
BSPN "Expert" Picks
http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks
What a surprise!!! The ESPN experts have all picked the Saints to win.
Let's hope the Vikings win, not for revenge against the Saints, but so ESPN will shut the hell up for at least an hour after the game. I can not think of a media outlet with more disgust for the Vikings and lust for the Packers than BSPN. They won't change, but they will shut up for a short time if the Vikings can pull out a victory. Let us all wait and hope!
Thoughts on Sharper's Success?
Darren Sharper has been playing well for the Saints. The stats don't lie... through four games he's had 5 interceptions with 2 touchdowns! He looks like the 2005 Sharper, where in his 1st year with the Purple he logged 9 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. Why is he playing this well? I have my reasons, but why do you guys think Sharper is fitting in so well with New Orleans?

I'm not gonna lie to you... I will probably watch this highlight video just as much or maybe even more than Peterson's destructive rampage of a TD run against the Browns.

Funnyman Favre
Oh boy, why did we get this guy? Oh wait, how many season tickets have sold recently? Yeah you got to hand it to the Wilfs, they sure have savvy business minds. Well anyways if you hate Favre or you are just beginning to accept him this video is rather entertaining. So enjoy!

Favre Practice Video
All I have to say about this video at www.Vikings.com is that Brett Favre looks vastly better than the miss throws / incompletions they kept showing on ESPN...

NEW RULE!
Honestly, I am getting so sick of seeing all these stupid, repetitive, annoying takes on the Brett Favre saga from everyone & newbies especially. So I've devised a new rule for the Daily Norseman. I plan to enforce it, so beware : ) I don't know exactly how... ...but please have respect so follow this rule you who are newbies.
New Rule: New Members of the Daily Norseman are not allowed to make their very 1st fan post be about Favre. The amount of recent fan posts from members that joined less than three days ago on the topic of Favre is staggeringly insane & very unnecessary.
I don't care if you who are new to DN want Favre. Or if you don't want him. But I do care that Bernard Berrian would like to have Favre throwing it deep to him. Shows how much faith Berrian has in Sage & Tarvaris. What do you think?

Dear Lord...
There's a giant Elephant in the Room... the # of legs the Elephant has is 4 (a very common # for this Elephant), the Elephant is heavily drugged on strong pain killers, is slightly injured from the last season of trampling trees down in the jungle, and may be mad about getting kicked out of his herd for which he was a proud member for 15 yrs!
There's something we aren't talking about on the sacred grounds of the Daily Norseman... ... and it's good we're not talking about it because it's not going to be resolved until July, which is even an early speculated guess. Basically, Chilly and Wilf need to say we don't need/want/intend to/feel it would be worth the risk to add that special someone to our roster. Yet neither of them has killed this drama, who knows why?
Well this random guy from the internet does... and of course this source is completely legit... not!!!
"my uncle, who claims to have all this inside info with his local state representative, viking coaches when he goes to mankato for camp, says he’s got inside info that bevell has already had contact with farve. that farve will do it but won’t make it official till after the start of training camp in july and thats why he wanted his release and thats why he said he’s retired for now! i always laugh at my uncle, but he’s always right. he was friends with karl kasaulke, bob lurtsima, and knew chip meyers from back in his days of playing wr for the bengals???? i don’t know his coaching sources, but if he says he talks to them, he does!!!!!!! he says it’s a done deal, and they’re giddy about it already in the viking coaches den……their plannin on it….mark it down mike, you finally got him"
People these days, honestly...
But it doesn't end, check this link... comparing the One to Rocky retraining to prove himself once again, just crazy.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/166728-disrespected-brett-favre-trains-like-rocky-for-minnesota-vikings
This bloody drama won't end until the figurative Fat Lady Sings, and I apologize in advance for bringing this up, but I had to get out of room the Elephant was in.
The Poll to End all Polls
Have at it! You Decide Sept 2009.
I'm really interested to see what the Daily Norseman members think about this predicament.
Plan A: The Vikings either play with the winner of the summer camp battle between Jackson & Rosenfels.
Plan B: 'Ol Chilly reels in the Mississippi Wrangler model to try and push the immensely talented Vikes over the edge and into postseason greatness.
We certainly won't now what's gonna happen anytime soon!
Childress' Master Plan
Disclaimer: Please do not read on or post hate comments if you are upset about all of the Favre drama. Personally i don't mind this drama, and it's my choice to waste my life reading about it. This post is overflowing with conspiracy theories and is purely for the entertainment of the what-if-scenarios.
Conspiracy Theory 101: never expect what is said to be true, and what is true is never actually said, at least not initially. Doing this (never saying what is true) is the guiding philosophy of Favre's agent (Bus Cook), or at least it was last year, and will it be this year?
With that being said let us begin the festivities... 3 events strike me as being apart of the great guru of character evaluation's (Childress') Master Plan.
1. The Cutler Contention: Childress intended to make a big splash for Cutler? Of course not, the Vikings love the draft (but last yr we loved Jared Allen more, hell yeah!). The conspiracy is that Old Chill Dog wanted to express enough interest or at least as much so as to make other teams (aka the Bears) in the NFC North with struggling QB crops worry he may pull the trigger on the Denver Diva. Of course we all know the Bears got Cutler, but as Chilly planned, the Bears payed the Ultimate Price by sacrificing many future picks, thus greatly hampering their rebuilding over the next few years. Chilly is an offseason genius if this is how he played this one out!
2. Wilf's Februrary Statement: (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/16/zygi-isnt-interested-in-brett) The Sugar Daddy stated he didn't want Favre. The conspiracy is there's no need for the Vikes to get caught up in tampering, but more importantly this statement was part of Chilly's misinformation/misdirection attack on the Packers, Jets, and the Media. A most brilliant move by the Mustache, Wilf's comment essentially made everyone believe the Vikings had no interest in Favre. That's just what Chilly wanted everyone to think while Favre was still being held hostage by the Jets. This allowed Favre to nonchalantly wait for the moment to spring clear of the Jets via release and prepare to join the Purple & Gold. You know that plane that went down to Hattiesburg, Mississipi from Minneapolis?..................... (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/165682-private-jet-heads-to-hatttiesburg-is-brett-favre-on-the-move) Well, yeah I'm betting it had a few Viking executives, a Viking Kick A$$ Offensive playbook, and a few palettes of Kick A$$ pain killers to spice up some early talks with Old Brett.
3. Brett's No-Surgery Biceps = Great Norse Success: Ah yes the torn biceps muscle that may have affected Farve's end-of-season Jet collapse play. Well the conspiracy is there was a Purple & Gold reason why Favre didn't opt to have surgery on that biceps brachii. It's because Chilly told him not to (well that's a stretch). But honestly, a "bicepsually hurt" Favre is a less likely candidate as backup to Sanchez on the Jets roster than is a recovering-from-successful-biceps-surgery Favre. Chilly's plan was to get Favre off the roster and into the land of Free Agency, where tampering does not abound, and the Great Communicator (no that was Reagan), I mean the Great Charactervaluator orchestrated this great success very nicely.
The Master Plan Summary: Chilly loves Tarvaris Jackson, but has a huge man-crush on the previously untouchable Brett Favre. Now that Wilf's misinformation, and Brett's "retirement" and non-opt for biceps surgery utterly seduced the Packers, Jets, and Media into thinking Favre was calling it quits and the Vikings would never get him, we are about to land the Great Interception Machine #4 in Minnesota. These signs of conspiracy are unmistakeable and Chilly, The Great Seducer (no that doesn't ring well), is quite the Sly Dog in getting those Gullible Bears to be trapped into paying the Ultimate Price for the Denver Starlet. Chilly is the guru of offseason NFL acquisition, and this recent successful plan to free Favre from the Jets has been one of his greatest sleights of hand. Chilly may not be a great coach during the season but oh boy is he a Masterful Magician when real NFL football games aren't being played!
You think these conspiracies are true? You better know I don't, or do I? But hell it's fun to speculate!
Skol Vikes!!! The Most Talented NFC North Team Hands Down & Of Course The 2008 NFC North Champions!!!
The #11 Option!
Oh yes, I'm bringing up Daunte Culpepper! Bear with me as this is a proverbial "shot in the dark." Much like the Vikes QB situation for next season!
Culpepper decided to come out of retirement with healthy knees in 2008, what a genius move! He had his stints in Miami (where he played too soon without letting his knee heal) and in Oakland, then most recently in Detroit!
The Vikings need another QB for next season to compete with the forever ongoing Jackson experiment. I think getting Culpepper, if possible, would be the most cost effective option! The reason why is that the Vikings will either have to give up 2 or so great draft picks and millions of dollars to get Cassel or a similar QB. Or the Vikes will give up lots of current and future draft picks to get a 1st round QB this year, which we pray turns into a Matt Ryan. Both options are very Risky and Costly! Where as getting Culpepper from the Lions in all likelihood wouldn't cost nearly as much in terms of draft picks or money.
Here is why I think the Vikings should try to get Culpepper from the Lions:
1. He's a veteran, not debatable!
2. He's a better cost-effective option.
3. His knees are healthy, hopefully his shoulder will be, and he's still more mobile than Frerotte and most veterans, except McNabb of course.
4. He'd sell out the Dome, as the nostalgia would be thick in the air! Fans could bring out there #11 jerseys again!
Look at the two times he's played the Vikings in recent history and tell me he's not still a gamer!
The Oakland Game at the Dome: The Sidney Rice trick play opener! 2007
| 11 | @MIN | L 29-22 | 23 | 39 | 344 | 59.0 | 8.82 | 49 | 1 | 1 | 5.0 | 85.8 |
The Detroit Game at Ford Field: Jackson saves the Day, Shank goes long! 2008 Against a good pass rush, with a terrible O-Line!
| 14 | MIN | L 20-16 | 14 | 24 | 220 | 58.3 | 9.17 | 70 | 1 | 0 | 3.0 | 102.8 |
Honestly, this is what Culpepper would have in Minnesota that he didn't have in Detroit, and this is why I think he'd play well enough in Minny. Culpepper would be surrounded by a much better O-Line to give him protection, a great running attack with Taylor and AP, an emerging star TE in Shank, and a deep threat in Berrian to replace C. Johnson, and man, Culpepper had a great 70yd throw to Johnson this year against us.
Here are the downsides to Culpepper:
1. He's old and injury prone. Much like any veteran.
2. His fumbles are epic and so are his Interceptions. However, with a better O-line these may not be as much of a problem. Also, C.Taylor or AP would always be a great check down/dump off.
I'm probably blinded by my natural inclination to like Culpepper, yet honestly I think he'd be able to give a Vikings a needed boost to get over the edge next year, granted he's available (I doubt Chilly would pursue him given there relationship) and he doesn't get hurt! This won't likely happen at all, but I hope it does!
Disclaimer: This post is pure speculation, so please disagree with me, and give me a brighter, stronger hope in another possible QB acquisition! Skol Vikes and next year is our turn to sweep the Packers and Bears!!!
Non-sellout could be a blessing, not a curse!
This means that only fans who want to be at this game will attend, which means these fans will want the Vikes to win (while hopefully not thinking about the coaching situation) and will make some noise! The fans need to be hella loud on Sunday to give the Vikes a needed edge on Defense! Especially if McNabb and his crew are clickin' like last week! I hope fellow Vikes fans bought tickets to the game because they're gonna lose their voices cheering, fans have no obligation to attend like season-ticket holders - so I hope we show a lot of heart this Sunday! We'll see how loud the dome is in 5 days and let's all hope their isn't a lot of Green in the dome - but I'm sure we all fear that there may be!
Jackson's best (high stakes) game!?
1st half he was 9/10 or something like that, and had no picks yet a few over throws, simply amazing! He was also able to run for serious yards (but he needs to learn how to slide)! Considering the pressure and the fact that the Vikings had to stop running the ball and start passing for a comeback win the entire 2nd half, this was a great performance for Jackson! He wasn't perfect, but clearly had the Vikings not had 7 turnovers Jackson played more than better to win the game! Shiancoe is a beast! He showed he's the hottest tight end right now in the NFC, hopefully he can carry those hands into the playoffs! 7 turnovers! The Vikes shouldn't have been in this Game At ALL, but they were marching for the comeback win, before the Refs. went blind and didn't see Sidney Rice getting mauled (Ref.s better get fined for that!)! The Vikes can still make the Playoffs and Jackson can lead them, we're sittin' pretty, don't lose hope! Vikes dominate if they don't turn the ball over! Vikings offense was present the entire game, Falcons offense didn't exist in the 2nd half! Falcon's defense wasn't that good, especially with all the talk about Abraham, Cris Carter was saying how he'd kill Jackson! No sacks on Jackson I believe, Frerotte in there would have been sacked 4+ times, this was a great pressure game for Jackson to perform well in, I'm impressed that he outplayed Matt Ryan the Rookie Sensation!
PS: The commentators were horrible! Only good comment was by Ryan after the game, he talked about how they beat a good team today (Vikings wraped them this gift of a game in the 1st and beginning of the 2nd half), Ryan said he would'nt be surprised to see the Vikings in a few weeks! Clearly he know the Falcons got lucky, because the Vikes Offense ran all over the Falcons all day, Falcons didn't stop them the Vikings stopped themselves with the Turnovers! Vikings deserve to go to the playoffs, next week they'll get there chance to prove it!

Please tell me what you see. Has he developed better poise in the pocket? Does his knee look healthier? Would you say he has become better at progressing through his reads? Has he changed for better or worse since Wk 1 or does he look the same?
Go Saints! I'll be impressed if the can go into Soldier Field and win!
OHHH SNAP T.JACK!!
http://blogs.startribune.com/vikingsblog/?p=2274
This obviously isn't official yet, but T.Jack is poised to likely get the start against the Cardinals. Emotionally, I feel indifferent: does T.Jack really give us a better chance to win? But now he has to, considering Gus fractured his back. Wow, I just chuckled to myself, a fractured back sounds like something grandma gets for slipping in the shower. Poor Gus, let him rest the spinal fracture, bring on the 2nd Coming of the Tarvaris Revolution Baby!! Go Saints, Drew Breessss Air It Out Thursday Night!!!!

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers... Even if B.C. was replaced, would that change the way the players on the Vikings offense hold and carry the ball? The Vikings offense gave the Titans 21 points or so, they solely lost the game today! Basic ball protection better be practiced this week!
You know, I'm glad the Vikings lost, because they need to reevaluate their jobs as "professionals!" I hope the players get pissed, angry, and start realizing that their season is slipping away and that they (especially the veterans) aren't getting any younger. Even though the Vikings are far from the playoffs and .500 - you'll see in the video that at least one person on the team can be a leader, that's Gus Frerotte. He's pissed and he takes responsibility for the offense giving the team a loss! The past can't be changed, but let's hope the vikings players can rally to protect their own dignity as professional atheletes!
