Houston Rockets Waive Terrence Williams
Via InsideHoops
The Houston Rockets have decided they no longer require the services of one of their bench reserves.
Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has waived guard/forward Terrence Williams.
Williams (6-6, 220, Louisville) averaged 4.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 12 games with the Rockets this season.
The Rockets are currently 24-20 and are 7th in the Western conference. They are led by Kevin Martin (17.1 ppg), Kyle Lowry (15.9 ppg, 7.2 apg) and Luis Scola (15.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg).
Should Boston grab him? This guy was a good player.
Chris Wilcox officially out for the season with heart condition

It wasn't good news for Chris Wilcox, a source said the team has learned he won't be back this season #celtics

A players health is obviously more important than how something like this affects a basketball team. As Doc mentioned a few days ago it's a crazy coincidence to have this happen twice in one year to one team
This sucks but maybe Danny will make a move now. Beasley-Kamen- Birdman.
Latest Rumor: Celtics interested in acquiring Josh Smith
http://www.celticslife.com/2012/03/rumor-celtics-interested-in-acquiring.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Rumor: Celtics interested in acquiring Josh Smith
Another day, another rumor. This time the Celtics are linked to Josh Smith, from the Atlanta Hawks:
So let the Celtics break up their Big Three, which is what the Knicks’ opponents this Sunday in Boston are actively trying to do. Team president Danny Ainge realizes that the Celtics won’t win the title and can only make the playoffs. That’s not good enough for a franchise that proudly flies 17 championship banners.
With the Big Three’s window now shut, Ainge is trying to land Atlanta’s Josh Smith and other young studs, while offering up Kevin Garnett. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen can also be had, for young players and draft picks. Rajon Rondo might be leaving, too, with the Lakers and Utah seen as possible destinations.
It is unclear which package the Celtics would offer the Hawks in order to grab Smith but it seems KG would be the player to leave Beantown this time. The rumor is quite vague, but take it for what it´s worth: just another food for thought and debate.
My personal thought is that the team would rather trade Rondo (despite all the comments by Ainge yesterday) but they may not be getting the kind of offer they would like to hear. On the other hand, I see why teams may insist on Ray Allen offers and in a lesser extent the rest of the members of the Big Three.
I guess we will know more in the next hours and days.
Yes please!
Should the nuggets trade for Rondo...
I say YES!
The Celtics are actively shopping Rondo. Should we move Ty and Nene/Chandler for Rondo and O'neal (for salary reasons). ?
This helps us in 2 ways.
We get an upgrade in Rondo a top 5 PG who has a very cap friendly contract a championship ring, he is an allstar and only 25. He will thrive in Karl's running offense and plays great defense.
Plus we get out of Nene's contract and O'neal is a free agent at the end of the season giving us more cap room. This also gives more playing time for Faried.
We could also do a bigger deal moving Ty, Chandler and Nene for Paul Pierce and Rondo.
Thoughts?
Celtics interested in Michael Beasley ?
http://www.celticslife.com/2012/02/celtics-interested-in-michael-beasley.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Celtics interested in Michael Beasley?
According once again to Peter Vecsey, the Celtics may be interested in forward Michael Beasley, currently playing for the Timberwolves:
Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman recently committed to boosting Derrick Williams’ minutes, making Beasley extraneous. Minnesota is pushing hard to relocate his $6.2 million expiring contract and have the Nets and Celtics leaning.
This could be interesting cause I wonder whose spot would Beasley take in our team, provided any of this rumor was true. This little intriguing comment is in the middle of a quite worthy reading article, at least to gear up for the craziness that may surround March 1 deadline.
As for the state of the Pau Gasol rumors, Vecsey adds the following:
Meanwhile, back at the trading post, some deals may actually be getting close to finalization and the Lakers are in middle of them. They’re determined to acquire a point guard sooner than two weeks from now. If it’s a multi-player transaction, Pau Gasol will be sacrificed. Should the Magic change their mind about accepting Andrew Bynum for Howard (Pau’s inclusion might do it), Jameer Nelson would almost have to be part of the package unless an above-average ball-handler can be obtained elsewhere.
It seems the Lakers are anxious to get something done, particularly on their double PG dilemma (adding a Point Guard and dealing Pau Gasol). If a deal with Orlando doesn´t happen (ideally for them they would grab Howard and Nelson from the Magic) they may try hard to pry Rajon Rondo from the Celtics...and it may happen sooner than later.
.......... I hope so, he can provide the scoring punch we need. Green, Beasley and Rondo could form a nice young core.
At this point we need offense- Should we look to AI or Gilbert?
AI or Gilbert?
Report: Allen Iverson interested in return to NBA Allen Iverson, NBA | Comments
Former league Most Valuable Player Allen Iverson is reportedly interested in making a comeback to the NBA, according to Chris Broussard of ESPN.com. Sources told Broussard that Iverson was willing to play in the NBDL or out of the country if it means getting a chance to play in the league again.
“Allen only wants to play if there’s a possibility that it leads to the NBA,” the source told Broussard. “That’s the only way he would go to one of these lower leagues. He wants to get back to the NBA and leave the game on his terms.”
Iverson is mired in financial trouble, and the 36-year-old was reportedly on the Los Angeles Lakers’ radar recently.
The 4-time scoring champion is reportedly hoping that something materializes in the near future.
“Nothing is imminent,” the source said, according to Broussard. “The only thing that’s imminent is Allen’s desire to show people that he’s still got a lot to offer on the basketball court, even if it’s just helping young guys learn from the mistakes he made.”
Nuggets Half Court Game...Mayo, Ellis, Josh Smith, Beasley
Last week my buddy took me to the Golden State game and we sat in the second row below the basket. Killer seats, bad game!
The one major issue that I came out of that game with was we have NO half court game and if were not running were not wining. I think this is a big problem with Karl coached teams especially in the playoffs where every game becomes a half court game.
We do not have a player that can create his own shot. Gallo is probably the closest but he needs to learn to play with his back to the basket. With Gallo out all the guys just stood around waiting for something to happen and then when the clock would wind down we would chuck up a 3 pointer.
Is it time for the nuggets to make a move for a true scorer or a guy that can create his own shot? I think so.
A couple of moves that could help improve the nuggets:
Trade 1: with Atlanta
Mozgov + 7 million trade exception from Felton plus a 1st round pick for Josh Smith
or
Nene for Josh Smith
Trade 2: Golden State
Miller/Bird plus a pick for Monta Ellis
or
AAA + trade exception for Monta Ellis
or any other mix for Ellis.
Trade 3: Memphis
Hamilton/Bird for OJ Mayo
or
AAA for Mayo
Trade 4: Minnesota
Hamilton/Bird for Beasley
or
Some other mix for Beasley
I would like to get either Mayo, Smith, Ellis or Beasley as long as we keep TY, Gallo and Nene.
Thoughts?
Kupchak fuels Rondo-for-Gasol chatter
Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak may want to play his cards even closer to the vest. To the question, what would he like to address before the trade deadline (March 15th), Kupchak answered: "Well, if there were a way for us to get a 25-year-old, All-Star, ball-handling guard we'd love to do it." ... [There] is exactly one 25-year-old, All-Star, ball-handling guard in the league. Rajon Rondo. Note: "ball-handling guard" is triangle-speak for a point guard. Additionally, sources have told HOOSPWORLD that the Boston Celtics do have interest in Gasol for their All-Star point guard. The Celtics have the potential for sizable cap room this summer but there is no true sense that Dwight Howard or Deron Williams would be within their reach.

How about this guy for Boston...and we don't have to trade for him
http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2012/02/01/j-r-smith-scored-60-points-off-the-bench-in-a-chinese-playoff-game/
Smith is still stuck in China. While his sister sits in the stands each game and tries to start international incidents, Smith has been balling like mad on the court. Today, he went for 60 off the bench in a playoff game. Smith was 21-32 from the field, hit 14 of 18 three’s, 4 of 5 free throws, grabbed 8 boards and only turned the ball over 3 times. Granted, I only saw the highlights from this video, but it looks like the 2-3 zone wasn’t very effective.
JR Smith....true he is a knuckle head but he can ball! Instant offense and he is a free agent!
Howard would consider Boston!

Howard Open To Signing With Celtics
Dwight Howard might be interested in signing with the Celtics this summer.
“Always. Always,” Howard said. “I’d always listen to a team like that.”
Howard said his primary goal is to win a championship.
“My thing is I want to win,” Howard said. “It’s not something like I’m doing this for money. I win. I want to do it my way.
“The first thing is basketball. I want to win a championship, and it takes a certain type of team to win a championship. You know, there’s a lot of teams who are great during the regular season. They play well, but it’s different once you play in those playoffs, you know? It’s gut-check time.
“Like I told the Magic, I just want to win. I don’t want a team that doesn’t know how you have to win in the playoffs. I want a team that’s going to go out every night and forget about stats, forget about who scores the most points or who is the fan favorite. Just go out and play, play for each other and play to win. That’s the only thing.”

If we can rework KG and Allen's deals, keep Rondo, Green and PP and bring in D12! Boom Championship next year.
Ainge should turn the Nuggets or Wolves if he wants to move the big 3
If the Celtics want to get great value and younger players they should look at the nuggets and wolves. Both of these rosters are loaded with talent and draft picks.

Should the Nuggets make a deal with the Celtics?
Danny Ainge came out and said he would break up the big 3 from the Celtics for young talent. Should the nuggets make a move for Ray Allen, Pierce or KG. KG would make a defensive impact and might be great off the bench. Allen would give us a big time clutch shooter. Pierce would give us a big time player. If we could get one of these guys but still keep Nene, Ty, AAA and Gallo would you make a deal? Maybe move draft picks, Jordan, sign and trade Chandler, Rudy, Brewer? Thoughts?
For the Celtics to make a title run they need some Nuggets...
I'm a huge Celtics fan from Denver. I'm also a Nuggets fan. Boston should try to go after 2-3 former nugget players that should be released from their current Chinese teams soon or at least by March.
Kenyon Martin might be willing to take a small deal for this season for a chance to get a ring, he would bring back the toughness that we lost with Perkins. He would be a great piece for this team and has his nights when he can score. He is a great defender.
JR smith would also be a great pickup, we would have to free up some cash to get him. After watching him for years in Denver he is one of the best athletes I have ever watched, but he is a bit of a headcase. I think Doc and the big 3 would be great for him and he would give us that scoring threat they we are missing and he can play some point as he did in Denver from time to time.
Wilson Chandler will also be coming back be he is restricted but Denver is 12 players deep right now and might be willing to do a sign and trade. Chandler would fill in where Green should have been.
Thoughts?
Looks like Rudy Fernandez is coming to the nuggets..maybe Brewer too
I like this move. Looks like we are giving up a future pick. Thoughts?

Josh Smith and Rudy Gay appear to be on the trade block
Josh Smith and Rudy Gay appear to be on the trade block, should the nuggets make a move. I would like to see either of the these guys on the nuggets. Josh Smith can start at power forward with Gallo at the small forward. Gay could start at small forward with Gallo playing power forward. The nuggets need to spend some money to meet the cap. Thoughts, what moves would you like the nuggets to make?
Nuggets draft prospects
http://www.nba.com/nuggets/news/draft_workouts_05_31_2011.html
Nuggets set to hold predraft workouts at the Pepsi Center Nuggets.com staff
The Denver Nuggets hold the 22nd pick in the 2011 NBA Draft on June 23. Nuggets executives Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri and the team’s scouting department have been preparing for the past several months, and they will take a closer look at draft prospects during workouts Wednesday and Thursday at the Pepsi Center.
Guards Iman Shumpert (6-6, 220) from Georgia Tech and Nolan Smith (6-4, 190) from Duke and forward Jordan Williams (6-10, 250) from Maryland are among those scheduled to work out on Wednesday.
Scheduled for Thursday’s workout are University of Colorado guard Cory Higgins (6-5, 185), as well as guard Charles Jenkins (6-3, 220) of Hofstra and small forward Travis Leslie (6-4, 205) of Georgia.
Please continue to check Nuggets.com often for stories, video and other draft-related content.
Any thoughts on any of these players?
Brandon Jennings & Michael Beasley available?
It sound the the Bucks might make Brandon Jennings available would you like to see him in our back court at the 2 spot playing next to Ty? We would have the fastest back court in the league. Jennings is better fitted to play the 2 then the point guard as he has been playing with the Bucks. I would work out some sort of deal for Felton and Chandler and some other players from the Bucks.
How about Beasley? If Minny drafts Derrick Williams then they will look to move Beasley. He would give us a forward that can score! Once again maybe move Felton and a pick for Beasley.
Thoughts?

For game 4 we need to close the game with the new nuggets on the bench.
I would like to see a line up change for the final 10 minutes tonight. The line ups that Karl has been playing to close out the game have had no offense at the end of the games. I think we need to try a line up of the pre trade nugget players that are comfortable together and have some playoff experience. I would like to see Kmart, Nene, JR, AAA, and Ty close the game out tonight. That would give us size, speed, and play makers all at the same time. Karl needs to go away from this 2 point guard line up!
Free agency needs to be fixed by the NBA!! The home team needs an advantage
Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of free agency this is America after all. With the current set up and thanks to Lebron, Wade and Bosh NBA free agenc y is going to ruin the NBA. Pretty soon we are only going to have a 10-12 team league because all of these players now think it’s ok to be championship chasers and join other superstars and take the easy way out to get to the top.
I personally feel that under the current NBA free agent system that the home team does not have the leverage needed to keep their players and/or superstars. I think the NBA should a have a 2 part system to help the home teams retain players.
1st as many people have talked about putting a franchise tag in effect. I think that should be able to be used on the same player for up to 2 years in a row. This might make that player think twice about not extending or taking the current offer from home team.
2nd the home team should be able to offer 2 more years on the max contract offered to the player along with the ability to offer 25% more per year than any other team can offer.
Example: The Nuggets could offer Melo 6 years at 20 million per year.
Teams trying to sign Melo could offer him 4 years at 15 million per year.
So by leaving he would leave 60 milllion on the table for the life of the contract or 20 million over the 4 years.
This way if players really wanted to leave they would take a larger risk or have to work with the home team on a sign and trade.
Thoughts or other ideas……
With the trade deadline a week away assuming that we are going to trade Melo what deal would you wants to see
I like this deal with NY and Minny...
Denver gets Beasley, Gallinari, Fields and Curry
NY gets Melo and Harrington
Minn gets Randolph, JR, Balkman, and Tuiaf (we might have to give up a pick)
Denvers starting lineup
Nene-Beasley-Gallinari-Affalo-Billups
Ty, Kmart, Bird, Curry, Fields on the bench.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4oqjdbn
or
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4vc7d5g
the only change is that Fields stays with NY and Denver gets Brewer
We could also deal with the Rockets
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=487ac69
Denver gets Hill, Yao, and T. Williams and 2 1st rounds picks
Houston gets Melo and Harrington.
Denver gets young good players, dumps a ton of salary and gets 2 -1st round picks.
Thoughts or other trade ideas......
We need to focus on keeping Melo and making some deals to keep him...here are a couple ideas
Trade #1
Denver deals Kmart and Jr and a 1st round pick to Memphis for Zac Randolh and OJ Mayo. We get a young player with lots of potential and a real big man that can put up 20/10 every night. Memphis gets a couple of salary dumps so that they can resign Gasol.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6896qej
#2
Denver deals Kmart and Jr and Balkman for Iggy and Brand. Denver gets some get production out of Brand who has played great as of late and we get a really good player in Iggy. Philly is able to clear up a bunch of cap space and move forward with it's young core.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6295zvh
#3
Denver moves Kmart,JR and Balkman to Detroit for Prince, Gorden and Charlie. Denver gets a flat out spot up shooter and big man that can score and a good defensive player. Prince can be switched out with Rip. Maybe Chauncy and Rip can bring back some old school magic.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4s2mup9
Ben Wallace and Al Harrington can be added in as well.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4owg3tc
These are a couple that I was able to come up with. Any thoughts or other ideas?
With Jersey bailing out is it time to get the best player we can for Melo?
I feel we have a team that can do well in the playoffs even without Melo, as long as we get the right player in return for him.
Maybe it's time for the front office to look for opportunities with Teams that want to get rid of a big name with a salary they want to get rid of.
Some ideas that I have thought about are:
Melo to Philly for Andre iguodala... Philly rents Melo and cuts out salary.
Melo and to Detroit for Prince....It sounds like Detroit is trying to get rid of Prince.
Maybe we can do a bigger deal and add in Balkman and get Rip too.
Go back to the Nets and offer a smaller deal...Melo and Balkman for Favors, Murphy and 1 pick.
Melo to the Grizz for OJ Mayo.
Melo to Golden state for David Lee....not sure if they would bite on that but worth a try.
Melo to the Bobcats for Wallace....sounds like they want to get rid of some salary.
Melo to the Twolves for Beasley....gives us a young scoring forward.
These are just a few that I can come with. Please post any other ideas or thoughts about these trades.
Does anyone have info on the Melo contract offer? Can't we trade him after the season?
It was my understanding that Melo has till June 30th 2011 to sign the 65 million dollar extension. Does anyone know if that is that correct?
If that is the case why not keep him all season and if after the season is over and he still wants to leave he can sign the deal so that he still gets his money (65 million) and we can still get something in return for him and trade him to a team of his choice. It's a win win for both Melo and the Nuggets. Plus we still get to make one last push with the team we have now.
Thoughts?
How about this trade...Melo gets his wish....Nuggets come out looking good
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2cv63kh
Denver-Philly-NY
Denver gets Gallenari, Iggy and a 1st rounder from the Knicks.
NY gets Melo
Philly gets to shed a bunch of payroll with Curry, Balkman, and gets Chandler.(chandler could be left out of the deal)
Gallinari could turn out to be a really good player, he is still really young. Iggy gives us a scorer and a pretty good defensive player! Plus we would have 2 first round picks in the draft and shed some payroll with Kmart.
Thoughts?
Congrats Coach
I would like to congratulate George Karl on reaching the 1,000 win mark! Great job!
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/ian_thomsen/12/10/george.karl.1000.win/index.html
George Karl has won 1,000 NBA games. The rebel has gone legitimate.
For much of his coaching career, Karl has been the outsider, the fighter. He was notorious for scrambling the game defensively. He appeared to take perverse joy in criticizing his own players publicly. He had his fights with management, he quit one job in frustration and he even moved to Spain to coach Real Madrid for a couple of years when he needed the work.

Love some Love in Denver
From all the reports I've seen in the last few days it sounds like Kevin Love is on his way out off Minn. Would anyone like to see him come to Denver as part of a Melo deal? If we could some how get Love and Iggy that would be good for me. Thoughts? Any trade ideas that we could get done with the Twolves? Or would you rather get Favors and the draft picks?
If we end up dealing with the Nets what would you like to see....
Here is a couple that I came up with. I would also want a 1st rounder (golden states) for the 2011 draft.
Most reports have Melo for Troy, Favors, and Humphries
but I want T Will in any deal with the Nets!
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2bfy7o2
Harris, Favors, T Will, and Troy plus a first rounder for Melo, Jr and Balkman
or
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=277drx6
Troy, Favors, and T Will plus a first rounder for Melo.
Thoughts?
If we deal with Philly how about this deal
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=38fp4u9
Melo, Balkman for Iggy, Speights, and Turner!
Chauncey Billups: Anthony has not said he doesn't want to be a Nugget
Chauncey Billups: Anthony has not said he doesn't want to be a Nugget
Fri Aug 20,2010 3:45 PM ET By Kurt HelinChauncey Billups has been talking with 'Melo to, and tells the Denver Post this is not a done deal.
"He has not once said he didn't want to be a Nugget," Billups said. "He loves Denver, he loves the Nuggets, he loves the fans. So, it's a part of him that I'm sure is eating him up a little bit because he's taken all this press and he's not said one thing to support or to not support what they are saying. He's just trying to enjoy his summer, chill out and he's in every story. Honestly, I think that the publications and things are out of control."
Billups also doesn't really know what Anthony is going to decide.
"I've had some very direct conversations with him that I would never share that with anybody else," said Billups this morning from his hotel room in Spain as he and the U.S. basketball team prepares to face Lithuania Saturday night in Madrid.
"But I think, for me, I try to just speak to him and just kind of help him and see if he needs my help in this whole process because it is a big decision for him. It's at a crucial time for him in his career and his life. It's a huge decision. It's something that's a big, big deal."
Nothing is happening fast here. As we said, Denver doesn't even have a general manager right now, and once they hire someone he will want to sit down with Anthony and his agent. And even then we're probably not going to see anything happen.
Backroom chatter in the NBA -- particularly in August -- tends to be where speculation gets let off the leash and runs wild. So few things talked about this time of year happen as predicted. Neither side in this talk is in a position to have to rush. That time will come, if Anthony is leaning toward leaving Denver will have to make a move by the trade deadline.
But that is six months away. Which is an eternity from now. So put your feet up and make yourself comfortable, we'll be talking about this for a while.

Here are all of the lineups from the 3 most likely Melo trade partners. Who would you deal with??????
I say the nets have the most to offer. I want to keep Melo but
Derrick Favors, Terrence Williams and a 1st rounder would work for me.
The Knicks and Rockets have nothing to offer in my opinion. The knicks don't have a first round pick to offer till 2014.
Who would you want??????????????
