Battle Red Blog Vikings let Moss go really!

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP)—The Minnesota Vikings have waived receiver Randy Moss(notes).

Linebacker Ben Leber(notes) says coach Brad Childress informed the team that Moss had been let go during a team meeting Monday afternoon.

The NFL Network first reported the Vikings waived Moss, but team officials have not confirmed the news.

Moss had one catch for 8 yards in a loss to the Patriots, In Sunday night’s postgame news conference, he expressed admiration for the Patriots and criticized Vikings coaching.

Childress said earlier Monday that Moss was staying back in the Boston area after the game to spend time with family. Childress said he did not regret acquiring him “at the moment.”

Childress did not mention the roster move during his news conference.

The Vikings acquired Moss from the Patriots a month ago for a third-round draft pick. He played in four games for the Vikings and had 13 catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

Battle Red Blog Hits in the NFL

i know we all saw some hits this past weekend and since we don't have a game this week, figure we could talk about it. I am really upset about these calls and fines, to me i think the only bad one was Brandon Merriweather hit. The rest of them seem legal to me. I just wanted everybody take on them and wondering where NFL is going. If any of y'all have not seen Mark Schlereth going off check it out.

Battle Red Blog This is the biggest worse news i heard in years.

I understand this i do i mean cowboy fans really know how to fuck stuff up.

    Tailgate Guest Ticket Policy Information
    New Policy:
The Houston Texans announced a new revision to their gameday ticket policy. Effective immediately the Houston Texans will require all fans who wish to enter Reliant Stadium or its parking lots to possess a gameday ticket.

Who’s affected: Non-ticketed guests, season ticket holders that bring guests to tailgate, season ticket holders that sell or give away their tickets and still plan to come to the game to tailgate.

Why the New Policy: Non-ticketed fans who arrive on property use facility resources otherwise designated for ticket holders, create additional unneeded traffic congestion, setup tailgates in parking spaces without parking passes, and require the services of EMT, Police, and Parking Staff that should be focused on improving the gameday experience of our fans who do have game tickets.

When it’s effective: The new policy is effective immediately and will begin to be enforced starting with the October 10th Home game against the New York Giants.

Where it is effective: All of Reliant Park property, including but not limited to all parking lots and the stadium.

What will happen to non-ticket fans: Any fan that does not have a gameday ticket will not be permitted to enter Reliant Park Property.

How will we enforce this policy: Fans who try to enter Reliant Park grounds on Houston Texans gamedays will be required to present a ticket upon request.

To Summarize, you must have either a game ticket or a tailgate guest ticket to enter and remain on Reliant Park grounds on gamedays.

    Tailgate Guest Ticket Policy FAQ’s

What if a Season Ticket Holder would like to bring a guest to tailgate for a game?
We will make available a tailgate guest ticket to season ticket holders for $10 per ticket per game, via their account manager. There will be up to 2000 of these passes available for each game. Each season ticket holder will only be able to acquire up to 4 for any given game until the limit is reached.

Can a tailgate guest ticket be forwarded or reprinted? No. These tailgate guest tickets cannot be forwarded or reprinted. They must be treated like cash and will not be replaced for any reason.

Will the Season Ticket Holder be responsible for the actions of their tailgate guest ticket holder? Yes. The Season Ticket Holder who purchased the tailgate guest ticket will be held responsible for the actions of their guest. If a disturbance occurs the Season Ticket Holder will be subject to removal from the property, revocation of their season ticket and/or parking pass.

Does this tailgate guest ticket entitle me to setup a tailgate in a parking space? No. The tailgate guest ticket only allows you to remain on property without an accompanying game ticket. You will not be allowed to setup any materials or equipment in a parking space unless you have a parking pass.

Why do the Texans charge $10 for the tailgate guest ticket? The Houston Texans have set the price at $10, which is similar to a BBQ cook-off admission ticket, to cover the additional expenses required to host extra patrons on property. That money will provide additional security, facilities, and parking personnel to manage the added patrons that will remain on property after all other game ticket holders have gone inside the stadium.

Battle Red Blog Glass half full

ESPN Stats & Info's Next Level data offers up extra details on Houston's struggles against Peyton Manning and Donovan McNabb. Houston clearly needs to do better defending long stuff over the middle from Tony Romo on Sunday.

The Texans have given up more completions inside the numbers than all but one team’s total attempts.

On balls thrown over 10 yards downfield inside the numbers, Houston has yielded 24.1 yards per attept, a 153.9 passer rating and three touchdowns so far. Outside the numbers, it's been just 4.8 yards per attempt, a 46.9 rating and no TDs. Tags:

Battle Red Blog Wade could get fired?

UPDATE – 2pm EST – Jon Gruden has a clause in his MNF contract that won’t allow him to leave his analyst position to take the Cowboys HC position if Phillips was fired.  As well, Tony Dungee has gone on record as saying he won’t coach this year.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who follows the NFL that Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips is on a short leash.  Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has gone on the record saying that the 0-2 start is “quite a setback” for the organization.

Word now comes from two great sources close to the organization that Jones is gauging interest from a few former NFL head coaches currently working on TV networks.  CBS in-studio analyst Bill Cowher is Jones number one choice to replace Phillips.  His second choice is NFL Network/Fox analyst Brian Billick.  Both Cowher and Billick have Super Bowl rings, something Jones really wants to have when it comes to who will be leading his struggling team.

Many feel the players have tuned out Phillips and last Friday was a clear example of how this situation continues to snowball.  Phillips got into details on Monday about Friday’s practice.  “Do I think it could be better? Sure,” Phillips said.  “Do I think we had a bad practice Friday? Yes, we told them that in the meeting. We went back over it and said, ‘Hey, we didn’t practice well enough.’”  How does the same thing occur that has happened over the past two years under Phillips watch?  Enough is enough and now is the time for Jones to pull the plug on him.  It’s plain to see that the team has no identity and have tuned out Phillips.

I am told that if the Cowboys lose to the Houston Texans on Sunday that Jones won’t hesitate in firing Phillips.  Two other possible candidates that have surfaced are Marty Schottenheimer andSteve Mariucci.  Schottenheimer who last patrolled the sidelines for San Diego back in 2006-07, was fired by the Chargers in February of 2007.  His 5-13 playoff record is definitely not appealing.  While Mariucci has a 3-4 playoff record, he hasn’t coached since the 2005 season after a three year stint in Detroit.

Regardless, of what happens in Houston this Sunday, Jones needs to fire Phillips if he hopes to have his team in the playoffs come January.  I for one truly believe one of the 4 names I have mentioned will be wearing that Star on their hat come early next wee

    Patriots want free-agent LB Schobel

Aaron SchobelVeteran outside linebacker Aaron Schobel(notes) got released by the Buffalo Bills last week, opening the doors for him to sign anywhere as a sudden free agent. Though the Texas native has interest in returning to his home state and playing for the Houston Texans, CSN New England is reporting that the New England Patriots have a "strong" interest in signing Schobel, who had 10 sacks last season for the Bills.

Schobel, 32, has been known to be a Patriots killer for a long time and they would like to have him on their side of the ball.

Schobel had 56 tackles, three forced fumbles and an interception last season.

The Washington Post reported when Schobel was released that he had been considering retirement and hadn't shown up for camp. "If he chooses to retire, he will do so as a Buffalo Bill. But this move allows him the opportunity to play somewhere else if [he] so chooses and we felt that was a fair thing to do for a guy who has played hard for us the past nine seasons," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said in a written statement at the time.

I know we have a great team and maybe the best thing is to not do anything but i just hate not seeing us trying to do something. Of course we all knew the bosh deal was never going to work but it was still something to think about. i tell you what i am even open to the suggestion in getting Shaq.

Battle Red Blog Blount a titan?

If it was already worse i thought we had  pretty god chance against the TITs when they traded Lendale but then they turn around and get Blount who we all know i known for the punch . Regardlss of the that i know we can beat them just was wondering what you guys think about this signing? Is he a better then Lendale? It seems texans never go after someone just inspite of the other teams in our divison might get them.

Battle Red Blog Some good news

Atleast the TITS and jagaurs don't have second round picks. So looking at what they drafted already means nothing to us or does it, cause they both went and got d-lineman does that mean we go o-line to counter what they do. I am really torn on the colts pick cause im pretty close to jerry hughes but now he will be going after our team. happy for him but on game day it's bussiness.

Battle Red Blog Questions on free agent DB's

Gibril wilson seem like a pretty good pickup for free safety whats up with him? What are the redskins wanted in return for carlos rogers? Can we give up something to get Ellis hobbs? if we need a vetrean corner lets take a look at lLito shepard. i know these are just question and i was wondering just in case we needed somemore help. I think Ronde barber might get cut this year should we even attempt to. While im on the subject whatever happen to derrick brooks and marvin harrison?

Battle Red Blog Wow we have the hardest schedule in the nfl

Well my fellow texans fans i knew when the teams we play was giving to us awhile back, we knew this was not going to be a walk in the park this year, and now looking at this we have the hardest schedule this year. So with that said do we look at who we play this year and decide how we draft so we can beat theses teams or just stick to the plan? I hope we go in gun blazzing and ready to kick some ass. check out for yourself.

Battle Red Blog Ok somebody tell me i did not see this

First off just to go off the Texans a little bit i was looking at our finalist for cheerleaders and i might be wrong but did our beloved twins not make the final cut or did they not try out? On the other hand we have two new groups of twins who tried out but for some reason they not the same. Anyways all of the women look great and hope we have the number 1 cheerleaders again, to go alone with our super bowl champion team. check them out and tell me what ya'll think.

    Battle Red Blog Suh

well don't know about ya'll but getting tired of seeing the same threads everyday so im just thorwing this out there and see what happens. Ok so if we want this mammoth what are we willing to give up to get him if he goes second like must teams think to the lions, then what are their most glaring needs beside DT that we could give up to them. Let say he falls to the third team which is tampa bay what do they need that we have. Ok so back to the lions i say we give up our 1st and 3rd pick and maybe Slaton. Please don't judge me on this im just throwing stuff out there. So if that happens can we really go without drafting a RB and play with what we have? On to tampa i see this being a little harder to do cause they need the help so what do we give up?

Battle Red Blog Would you give up a second round pick for

Would you give up a second round pick for ronnie brown or marshawn lynch. That is what yahoo sports rumors says both teams want in return for these guys. We all know what ronnie does can u imagine if he was on our team i me really. One play that sticks out is the one he did on mario on the goaline where he juked mario who cam e pretty much clean untouch and he just juked him crazy. im like if he can do it and score then that is all we need. Lynch don't know to much about his game so if anyone does enlighten me on him somewhat.
